Heroes: Fugitives *SPOILERS*

Vol_4_650x350.jpg

So the fourth volume of Heroes starts Monday.
The fourth volume of Heroes, titled Fugitives, will start with episode fourteen and span over the last twelve episodes of Season Three. The first scene, shown at the end of "Dual", shows Nathan exposing the existence of evolved humans to the President of the United States.

So basically the government will start rounding up the [strike]mutants[/strike] heroes and... something. Use this thread for speculation and discussion. For anything aired are fine though spoiler commercials, previews, or anything leaked.

I'm guessing that every new character will be a relative of one of the original season characters.

At this point, I'm waiting to see what they're going to do with Sylar, preferably erasing season 2 and 3 from memory.

I'm wondering, though, if they're going to go with the 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend' route.

Season 1 has been playing over here recently, and while I'd argue that the show has never been fantastic, the disparity in quality from then to now is remarkable.

I really do hope the show regains some form of momentum.

Isn't the guy who was on pushing daisies (and did the Company Man episode) a lead writer now or something? I'm hoping that (along with the firing of Loeb) helps clean the show up.

I just got done doing a basic marathon viewing of seasons 2 and 3 on Netflix Instant. Season 3 is so bad. It's effectively made me hate almost every character besides Hiro, Ando, and HRG (Sylar is working his way back into things. The Gabe Petrelli angle was insufferable but he made up for it with cake).

I remember when I didn't want Nathan or Peter to die because I liked them and their characters. Now I wished they'd both have died in a magnificent ball of fire at the end of season 1. Along with Claire.

Bryan Fuller's influence won't be seen until a few episodes into volume 4 at the earliest.

I caught some of the marathon yesterday on G4.

It's like the whole series is one lateral shift from one crisis to the next without much character development.

Or even when there's development it's usually so bad it needs to be reverted back to square one.

and anyway the end didn't make sense to me. Seemed like nathan was reporting to the president because the script told him to, not because his character wanted to.

    oh well! I'll watch.

Yeah, this is basically Ali Larter's character(s) in a nutshell.

Nothing screamed "RESET BUTTON!" quite like what they did to Niki/Tracy.

I also wonder what happened to that girl who could copy whatever she saw on TV. They ditched her and Micah pretty quick.

They never knew what to do with him after season 1... the one situation in which they made him useful (finding Taskmaster girl after she got kidnapped) was stupid and contrived, as was everything related to that situation. To be honest, Nikki deserved a little better.

we talked to Mark Verheiden about a month ago about his Heroes work. He and Bryan Fuller are basically in charge of these next 10 episodes, and he's said he's trying to get the characters back to season 1 levels of cool. Taking things back to basics in terms of character work. He wrote this episode airing on Monday.

So, I wonder if they will finally pull a good show out of that magic hat, we glimpsed one in S1 (the flashforward one, ten years gone?) but they failed to deliver, open letter to Tim Krigg:

People like superheroes cos they can do cool shit, showing people do said cool shit is not a bad thing, its a good thing, you have a show where people have super powers and are very stupid, your not going to make it less "realistic" by showing Peter flying about throwing cars at Sylar who deflects them with TK...that will just make it good.

Hey, someone started a thread. I thought about it, but I'm already annoyed with the commercials.

I have hopes for this 2nd half, but if it doesn't grab me quick it's back to Jack and his quest to inflict pain with paper clips and half empty milk jugs.

Has there been any news on new super people? I saw a plane full on potential in those commercials.

It's just a shame that even if they can make Fugitives good, the whole plot is based on Nathan's retarded character development from the last couple episodes. His decision that all specials should be exterminated was almost as out of the blue as his decision to work for Arthur. It's not even that I can't see his character as being a pure utilitarian willing to do anything to stop the threats of bad specials, they just did an absolutely horrible job of giving him motivation.

They don't need to show super powers... hell the best season showed barely anything for like, the first half of it. What they need are good fucking stories.

The first season didn't need superpowers, because it was about the characters coming to grips with being special. After the finale they should all gained an idea of what they could do wit their powers and should have become heroes.

Parkman and DL actively tried to utilize their powers in ordinary circumstances to be heroes and still be discreet, but Peter and Niki both got returned to the beginning of season 1 cluelessness which was that season's biggest flaw. I could deal with Peter's loss of memory as it was explained, but why Niki suddenly created a third personality should never have happened. Peter was probably too powerful to be walking around being able to do anything anyway.

Unfortunately, I'm not seeing improved stories coming back with Fugitives. According to Wikipedia, Sylar spends the first four episodes searching for his real father because there's no way he's the son of a watchmaker. His father is probably gonna be HRG or something else equally dumb.

See, and the way they've set up his character, I don't see how he can possibly be anything else.

Niki created a third personality? When did that happen?

During the Villains flashback episode. She stops taking her meds and Jessica comes back, only this time it's not Jessica but instead a new chick called Gina who always wanted to go to Las Vegas and get high on cocaine. Then she gets D.L. killed.

Then she's never heard from again. I think.

EDIT: the only thing I don't get about the triplet angle is there's Niki, Jessica, Tracy, and then this third "personality" that goes to Las Vegas. That's four.

That whole bit is stupid anyway, since DL should never have allowed himself to be shot anyway. It's not like the guy jumped around the corner and shot him. He came up to him, pulled the gun, and then I think said something even (there was definitely a bit of a pause though) and then shot DL. So dumb.
