How much personal info on Monster.com?

I've started to upload my resume to Monster (and similar sites) but immediately removed the personal info, such as address, e-mail, and phone number, from my uploaded resume.
Did I go too far?

Keep in mind that resumes are searchable through these sites, and recruiters will many times search for resumes and contact people through the info on them.

I just remember that one of the jobs that I applied through monster.com ended up calling me directly to my cell. I don't think Monster gives out your contact info, so they had to pull it from my resume.

If they don't have your email or phone number can they contact you?

I don't know what are you live in, but here's some food for though. I just moved to the D.C. area about 4 weeks ago and have been job hunting like crazy. The first 2 1/2 weeks I posted on monster, careerbuilder, dcjobs and one other I can't think of at the moment and did not get a single hit from any of them. I probably applied for about 100 jobs total on those sites. A week and a half ago I started looking on craigslist and applying to places on there. In the first week I got 3 calls for interviews, and ended up taking one of the jobs. My advice to anyone looking for a job would be to check the craigslist ads in their area, because you never know what could be out there.

I suppose it makes sense to give an e-mail and phone number.
    Thanks all.

Yeah, Craiglist's is also a good place to check for jobs.

But careerbuilder and monster.com really worked for me (Dallas area). I moved here 3 weeks and had a steady supply of interviews from those two sites alone, though then again I was applying to like 10-20 jobs daily. I actually got the job I ended up taking through monster.com.

Usually there is an option to make your resume searchable or not--when I posted my resume up and made it searchable, I got calls and emails from every shady recruiter and his mother, and most of them basically had the same jobs. So if you're applying for jobs, I would recommend not making it searchable and applying yourself to positions you find on these websites. I don't think I have ever been initially contacted directly by an employer (I'm in the NYC area and I was looking for finance/tech jobs, so your mileage may vary), I have only been contacted by recruiters.

If you're thinking of going the recruiter route, I'd really suggest finding a decent and professional recruiter that's recommended from a friend or something, because most of them are really shady.

(also, I mainly used dice and hotjobs)
