Man, I couldn't get enough fire warriors for that level. They only give you like 2 squads, then there's like 2 imperial guard (which suck cuz they're smaller squads) and then you can't build any on that level because you get a set amount of units.
I think you're talking about the Ork Stronghold, the trick to that one is to take out the WAAAAAGH! banners in each base. As you do, the clans each lose faith in Gorgutz and turn on his forces, going neutral to you.
A well timed frontal Distraction/Stealth Team rear assault usually takes out the banner quick, with minimal loss of life (usually you don't even lose a squad, just a few warriors from each squad).
As you rank up online, your marines become adorned in various decorations, gold bands, medals and so forth. Scouts get cloaks for example, at higher levels.
It's the map where you get to build forward bases if you win it not their capitol.
Ahh yes, kind of circular, player starts in the west side, computer has 4 bases in the middle crater area.
The trick to that one is also using mixed forces carefully, especially using the tanks carefully and repairing them when they get damaged (and keeping the one drone you get safe whilst doing this).
Also note that the Skyray can do a lot of damage from the rim of the crater as long as it has another unit (such as a Pathfinder or Stealthsuit squad) to site for it.
Additionally, you get Greater Knarlocs and Krootox, which are both really good at soaking up damage at melee range while your other units pick apart the enemy from afar.
I really disagree with this, I actually installed Soulstorm again because I never got to finish it. I really loved base building in both CoH and DoW (I thought CoH did a better job)... DoW2 just seems like there is not enough. Maybe the single player will be a bit different, but it takes some getting used to and I still love me some classic RTS.
Also it's gonna make working IG into an expansion tough because they were so defense based with buildings.

ONE Eldar grenade destroys the entire structure. ONE. I thought my devastator squad would take two losses at most. That explains the nerf.
There's buildings you can garrison on every map (and every race has counters for garrisoned buildings) but I doubt they'll make IG a high priority for this reason.
You'd be surprised how effective a couple Techmarine turrets can be for map control, though. It's tough to counter them early game, especially if you've spent your early resources on stuff that have trouble getting around turrets and/or damaging them.
Free kills.
If anyone ever wants to play the original Dawn of War my friends and I just picked it up a few weeks back and that would be awesome.
It's a fair cop though, given the obscenity of shotguns.
Send Kroot Carnivores into the advancing mass, the melee will slow their advance, giving your Fire Warrior squads the opportunity to hit the enemy at range for longer. A Vespid Stingwing Squad is good for this as well, as they have the Sonic Pulse special attack that does a really good knockdown.
Also fuck you assault marines.
Is there a way to disable that annoying intro video?
The mic system in this game sucks hard. Apparently I was giving mad feedback loops to everybody else in the game, and I had to go into the Games for windows live setting to kill it. And there is no push-to-talk. Just straight up muting your mic.
there are still some pretty ridiculous imbalances and cover just does not play the same role it does in CoH
I can honestly say that right now, I still prefer CoH and DoW1 to DoW2
I really like it and definitely like it more than DoW1, but I might still prefer CoH. The cover system was by far my favorite part of CoH and I agree, it's a shame it doesn't play as big of a role. I guess part of that is because of how assaulty some of the armies are (nids and orks especially) so it's not really right to expect them to behave like trained infantry, but there it is. Maybe if everything bigger than a space marine couldn't walk right through walls, it'd help. Also I kind of wish the scale was a bit bigger.
Honestly it's gonna be tough deciding between this and Empire: TW, but I think I'm leaning towards Empire. We'll see.

Dawn of War had one of the best opening cinematics of any game I've ever played. I would pay big cash moneys to see a full length version on the big screen.
