Tattoo opinion

Hey all!

I have 3 tats already and 1 is of a pinup girl on the side of my leg. I found a picture on the web that I was thinking of getting on the side of my arm. I love it and my wife (who has more tattoo's than I do) thinks it's great but one of my friends I showed it to thinks it's " creepy in an uncomfortable way". Just want to get your guys opinion.

http://i643.photobucket.com/albums/uu155/ferlandmathieu/n585150964_957337_1607.jpg

Getting it without the blue background.

Thanks!

    Shackled innocence.
    Creepy.

But that doesn't mean don't get it.

The thing that bothers me most about it is that the locking mechanism doesn't seem to make any sense. What is the point of the lock? It's just hanging on a ring for no apparent reason.

Maybe that is too technical a qualm.

She looks young, but its not like there is a Harry Potter book at her feet and a dick in her mouth. If you're woried about creepiness, don't get it on your forearm.

I like it. It's edgy, sure, but if your friend says it makes him/her think of pedophilia, well... I think there might be some projection going on there.

I don't get the "creepy in a pedophile way" vibe. I think it's pretty ambiguous in that department. I think I'll second "friend is projecting a little" notion here. If you like it, I'd say ignore him and get it. If you wife is cool with it...well that's about the only opinion you might want to worry about ;-).

Symbolic of what? It just seems that there's no reason to have a padlock if there's already a ring locking the shackles together.

I'd say it's pedophilia akin to really, really soft-core Japanese schoolgirl porn. It's not really saying, "I'm a pedo!" as it's saying, "Hey, I really like young girls in chains!" Most people, me included, aren't gonna get the whole "shackled innocence" thing.

Well on a tattoo you wont be able to see everything as clearly... If she only had shackles on from a few feet away it would only look like dark bands... So the padlock is there to show the "imprisonment" Keep the comments coming as my friend who is doing the work is reading the thread and we can modify the drawing if any good suggestions come up. as needed.

I don't think the two tattoos really match - one is pretty realistic (or at least comic-book realistic) while the other is less so. I have a thing where I want everybody's tattoos to match (ie, no celtic crosses with ankhs, etc). I'll admit though that this is the main reason I don't have a tat myself - I'm afraid I'd run into something better later that it wouldn't go with.

But if you really like it get it, especially if your wife is cool with it.

If you like the design, go for it, just as long as you can also dismiss what you're friend said. It'd suck having something permanent on your skin that you always wonder if people think its paedo.

You're friend was probably just being an idiot because he didn't like it and thought phrasing it like that would be funny or something.

That's what I mean by saying I think the foreshortening is off - the sizes don't match, even when the perspctive is taken into account. For her hands to be THAT small compared to her face, there would have to be quite a large amount of distance between the two - ergo, she would have to have a freakishly long neck. Plus, they also look small compared to her feet.

Honestly, the fish eye effect on the girl's face combined with the overly wet doe eyes makes me think of two things that I, personally, think are incredibly tacky:

First, those cheesy The Dog calendars:
    bn1.jpg

    Second, Precious Moments angels.
    preciousmoments%20angel.jpg

    ...especially with the wings.

Third, something about the composition reminds me of a sacred heart Jesus you sometimes see on candles in Walgreens or airbrushed on the side of somebody's van.
    59.jpg

Fourth, as Betelgeuse said, what the fuck is the deal with that lock?

Anyway, the whole thing just screams "TERRIBLE IDEA RUN AWAY" to me. But hey man it's your body.

Jesus Christ, the lock is intentionally designed like that to signify that she'd be bound even if you unlocked her. It's obvious to the point of bordering on hamfisted.

Also, Feral... man, I have no freaking clue what to make of the fact that a fish-eye perspective automatically reminds you of cheesy dog calendars. I don't think it's a valid artistic criticism. :P

Look, all I'm saying is that it looks like the hybrid love child of a poster a 13-year-old goth girl would buy on clearance at Hot Topic and a Franklin Mint collectible plate that her middle-aged spinster aunt would put on her mantle in between the Thomas Kinkade print and the porcelain angel figurines in adorable poses. That doesn't mean it's bad.

See this one I don't get... Why the "women should not wear much" much part? She is fully clothed....

About asking for everyone opinion... Since this is not like buying a new t-shirt as it will be there for the rest of my life I just want to see if there is anything I didn't consider and I am seeing that there are a few things (hands) and finding out others opinions that are put of by it. I never saw anything purely sexual about it that others are.
