Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 - Mutant and Symbiote edition

So getting this.
The guy who did Deadpool in Hulk vs. Wolverine was the best.
In happy news: Iron Fist!
(I am joking. I'm glad they're using him.)
Really? I thought he was brilliant. Whenever he spoke the tone of a scene completely changed, and it was actually funny, which is more than can be said for his dialogue in MUA.
"Logan, I think we lost him!"
Just kills.
I didn't like Venom. More than half of his moves don't even work on big enemies/most bosses... it's incredibly disappointing. IIRC, the only move that does deal (it's full) damage is Venom Thrust... maybe the radial hits too. I think the rest either whiff or deal a fraction of their damage this includes his Xtreme attack
Claws is an awesome buff though, just a shame he doesn't have the powers to really compliment it.
Is he still fun to play with at all? This does not make me a happy camper. Haha.
Maybe I will try him and if I don't like him I will switch to Hawkeye.

As a first timer, it's not too bad. His starting Venom Thrust is a really solid move, and combined with his claw buff it makes a decent skill for boss fights/big enemies. His tendril move is also a good AoE for small guys (though it can be incredibly annoying in teams since it pushes people back ). The big problem is you get all 3 of those moves fairly early and... that's it. The rest of his moves range from garbage to incredibly niche, so there's a good chance you'll get tired of the playstyle before long.
They also gave him Wolverine's Lunge attack but nerfed it into OBLIVION. Wolverine's lunge attack doesn't work properly on big enemies/bosses either, instead it hits TWICE (instead of once) and has no cooldown, so it ends up being a spammable boss raping attack. Venom's (I think) hits for 1/4 of the listed damage on big enemies and... that's it :[
Some other random tips:
It's annoying, but I highly recommend turning off auto-assign skill points/items for *all* characters. Yes, you have to go through every motherfucking character one by one to disable it. It's not a huge deal since you can re-assign points spent in powers (except the very first point YOU spend in a given power) though... it does suck early on though, when you wanted to beef up one power but it auto-spends on something useless.
Any item that says +X% to fire/lightning/whatever damage is lying. It works for ALL powers.
Green items only drop once... ever. So if you plan on playing multiple times on the same save, you aren't going to see those green items drop again. There's also limited inventory space. Your options are: Sell the 'crap' items or equip the guys you aren't using with greens. The only exception to this rule is Asgard Armor (which is one of the best items in the game).
Wait... that's why I could kill Mysterio with the rest of my team down with Wolverine? I just spammed lunge and destroyed him, and then in other boss fights used it liberally. I didn't realize it was broken.
Note to self: Never play as Wolverine so I am not a cheap jerk. Haha.

It's not +X% to an attack, it adds X% of whatever element to your attacks.
I never asked for this!
Even with auto-assign on, you can reassign the points. It doesn't hurt you that much. Though I think you have to turn it off first.
And I don't know what you mean about green items, but I'm getting shit to drop all the freaking time. The higher the level I get, I'll eventually get something better to replace the early shit.
Do not engage the Watermelons.
Do not engage the Watermelons.
Honestly - I wouldn't want to go back and do that Mysterio fight again. It was awful. So I'm glad of it in that instance, but the game seemed so easy when I was controlling Wolverine. Now I know why.
I was looking at picking up the PS3 version but really as long as I can play Deadpool its all good.
Hopefully MUA 2 gets a good port to the PSP like MUA did. I'd much rather play it portable for some reason.
this ultimately depends on your level and how many abilities you want to use. Generally speaking, the best item(s) in the game are the Dark Uru Hammer and Asgard Armor. Both add +50% to all power damage (despite it saying electric only). You aren't going to see a better damage increase than that most of the time. There are a handful of other uniques that are kinda neat (the double damage for finishers can be kinda nice for a melee-centric build/team) but the best bang for your buck are the above two items.
In the mid levels just prior to maxing out skills, using certain belts or whatever that give +1/2/3 to a useful ability can outdamage (or match) a +50% power increase, but the stars have to fucking align just right for you to happen to find equipment for A> a character you're using B> an ability you want to beef up C> it to be +3 or something to make it worth it I remember a complaint of mine from the past was that I would never get equipment to drop for the characters I was using... ever. And with a cast of 25+... I guess I probably should of held onto some of that stuff but meh.
Unless we're talking about different items, this isn't right. I'm talking about something like Asgard Armor that adds +50% more damage to "electricity" based powers. The item is bugged and adds +50% damage to ALL powers *, and that added damage isn't considered "electric" it's considered whatever the base powers damage is. Easy way to test this: Grab Mr Fantastic and do any attack (with asgard armor equipped) on an enemy with no resistances. Then find one with elemental resistance (they resist electricity, such as the Demons in act 3) and smack them with the same attack. There won't be any reduction in damage.
* The one exception to this rule oddly enough is Moonknights Nunchuck ability which recieves no boost in damage, I believe it's considered a MELEE attack rather than a POWER attack... so buffs that add +% increase to melee damage, like Human torch's team buff, should increase the damage of nunchucks.
I played this game *way* too many times.
Yeah, it definitely comes down to preferred playstyle. What I started doing was any piece of equipment that I got that was specific to a character, I'd go in an equip it even if I wasn't using that character. It freed up an inventory slot and potentially improved on that character without doing anything.
I agree, though. The drop tables are kind of messed up. A whole bunch of shit you can't get any real current use out of, one somewhat useful object, and then more useless junk.
Do not engage the Watermelons.
On a side note how do you increase combo damage? I remember being able to get 400+ damage once or twice with ghost rider + black panther a few times on my old save file but never managed to do it more then once or twice.
I stuck with Cyclops reflect shot (same as Iron man's uni beam). IIRC, his roundhouse kick is also pretty damn powerful.
I usually only play with 2 characters at a time (solo) because there's really little point in bringing a 3rd/4th. The only thing you're missing that I can see is someone with flight or lightning (both of which can be used to solve a "puzzle" each IIRC, but neither are required)... so maybe Storm/Thor? Thor's leader boost is incredibly nice early on.
I'm just going to guess it was a critical hit. Combos don't really do mega-damage anymore (or since XML1 really).
I hope you're kidding about Cyclops, dude. He's quite seriously the man. I can consistently rip apart minions from across the screen before my buddy playing Wolverine can even close the gap.
Give him some energy boosts and he will never be able to stop shooting. Plus, his initial laser charge shot is pretty much his best move, even with some early qualms about not being able to aim with it after initiating.
The main play point of the move is to set up early and if you're going to miss, pull back on the stick so you can do a wide shot. It does knockback on most enemies so you can easily set up a more focused beam before they can get up. He has the fantastic ability to switch from crowd-control to singling out dudes.
Probably the only thing that annoyed me about him is that his Xtreme attack animation takes forever to wait through.
He is also the guy who does Nate's voice in uncharted and the prince's voice in the new Prince of Persia just in case you cared

I loved playing as him in XML2. The option to be ranged with his cards, or whoop ass with his staff. I like the character and think he translates well to video games.
One thing that was absent in UA that I really liked about legends was the passive abilities. It just seemed you had so many more options to customize your character. In UA it was all about special moves, and alot of them were useless. With the passive upgrades, it seems to me you have more controll over your build, and can find ways to make less usefull special moves usefull.
I cannot wait for UA2! I wasted so much time with Legends 2 and UA1. Just hope gambit somehow makes it in.
I do care. I liked his Prince, too.
Although there's already teleporters.
An impossible to hit character might be fun.
To be fair, XML2 had it's fair share of completely worthless moves (and passives) but I sure did appreciate the variety. I think costumes were suppose to replace the loss of passive upgrades/stat allocation.
P.S. Electra is made of suck and fail. Her comic mission made me hate her more then the crappy daredevil movies did.

Do not engage the Watermelons.
He's a Preorder bonus
Thats kind of how I felt too and how I feel about grinding kills for costumes of people I don't like. But you only have to get bronze so that helps. I also went back and gave Venom blackheart's corruption and now he never runs out of health and energy. Hell they are almost always 100%. I still have to switch to ghost rider for bosses , poor venom doesnt have any boss killers.

Well, she's also best friends with Lockheed, a diminutive space dragon who can breathe gouts of flame that are as hot as a blast furnace. That's basically a superpower right there. Plus she's a ninja.
