I remember back in the old days when I would go to the video store almost everyday just praying that Urban Champion would be there to rent. I mean, you could punch people! I think this was around the time Double Dragon first hit, so beating on people was new and exciting! I guess it's good I never got a chance to play it, because by the looks of it, I would have been royally disappointed.
Today's VC selections are really bad. Has anyone bought any of the classic NES sports games other than Ice Hockey?
I would love Nintendo to release how many times games have been downloaded. I am very interested.
Seems most Hudson staffers are on holiday til "early this week." Guess the guy who's job it was to flag the "Available on Wii Shop" box was off too. :P
So no official word on Hudson's forums yet.
It is my hope that after Military Madness they're holding this back to make sure the emulation is perfect.

You know, I don't really understand why Classic Controllers won't work for Gamecube games. The left analog stick would be mapped the the left stick on the classic controller. The C-Stick would be mapped to the right stick on the classic controller. The D-Pad would be mapped with the D-Pad. A,B and X,Y are all there. There is a Z button. There are Shoulder buttons. So why did Nintendo decide not to?

I guess it just had to do with the way they implemented backwards compatibility.
The Wiimote's Home and Poewr buttons don't work in Gamecube games either.
Also, the classic controller doesn't have the same analog shoulder buttons as the Gamecube.

Yeaeh, I suppose. I just really don't want to fork out any money for a few wavebirds. Although I do have 4 regular GCN Controllers, I can't stand being tethered to the system now that I'm used to Wireless.

Acctually, I would debate about the L+R triggers. From what I can tell, there is quite a lot of give in the buttons, and there still is that slight click at the end (although it's not quite as tangable in the Classic Controller).
Something I wouldn't mind knowing is if ZL and ZR are mapped independantly, or if they both just activate the same 'button'
When playing Gamecube games, the Wii literally becomes a Gamecube. It has no support for any Wii-specific functionality, including input from the remote(and thus the classic controller). That's why they didn't include support - maybe it would have caused emulation issues or something.

Heck, it wouldn't even be emulation issues -- it would have been "I'm a GameCube so I don't know what the fuck that Bluetooth signal you're sending to me is supposed to do" issues.

one thing I don't understand though is why they reversed the player ports. Why is player one all the way to the right now? It's no big deal, but seems odd.
God damnit Nintendo! I've got 1300 points I want to give you, but you won't provide anything good!
If you didn't get any of these yet do so:
Alien Crush
Bomberman '93
Bonk's Adventure
R-Type
Super Castlevania IV
Super Star Soldier
You probably already did though.

Some sites will say that flash wont work with their videos and others will work AND sometimes websites say "HEy, you may Not worK! Try anywaY?" and it usually does!
Since we're talking about Opera I should at least mention that there are not one but TWO viable options for streaming video (and other things) from your PC to your Wii. (Of course, I know you'll only watch content you legally own.)
Option one is Orb, which actually allows you to stream your media to ANY computer with a web browser and works great. Install on your PC, tell it where your media is, and that's it. Only downside for Wii is that it's streaming over the 'Net, losing the speed of your local network.
Option two is Wii Media Center X, which is designed specifically for Wii and works over your local network. I haven't tried this one out yet, but I imagine it works fine.
So yeah, feel free to rip those seasons of 24 you've got on DVD and stream 'em to your TV. Or whatever else you want to do with it. It's all good.
Just to be clear, were these added today monday the first, or last week?
Monday the first. And so far, that's it this week, though we're hoping that HudsonSoft just didn't put Dungeon Explorer up yesterday because they're lazy and it'll show up today/tomorrow.
As astute fans may have figured out by now, Dungeon Explorer did not hit the street date as intended. It appears that there were some last minute bugs that needed to be addressed, so we have decided to hold back to see what can be done.
As some of you know, when games are played on an emulator, which is the case for Virtual Console games, sometimes funky things happen. Emulation technology is not perfect, so not all games work right from the get go. In this particular case, the bug was serious enough to have a the release schedule changed. I'm sure we'll have an update on when the game is coming soon.
So, call up your old buddies and tell them that the 5 player Dungeon Explorer game nite is going to have to be put off til another day. In the meantime, enjoy the sunshine. Play some ball. Have a picnic. You won't get much sun once you are down in the dungeons.
Happy New Year!
I don't understand how there are bugs left to work out when the game is already OUT elsewhere... but there it is. The good news you could take from this, I guess, is that they probably know about the Military Madness issues and might be working to get a fix out.

Like I said, I only have experience with Orb, but feel free to describe any problems with it and I'll try to help out. WMCX I haven't tried because I didn't feel the need yet, but I might give it a go in the next couple weeks just for kicks if I get time.
I haven't been able to access the Shop Channel for days. It keeps locking up on me, and it's the only Internet-related thing that hangs for me. I was able to grab games fine on Christmas day, but everything past that has seen some sort of snafu.
Hm. In a way it's probably better that I'm not tempted to buy more things. I really want SimCity. :P

I think the ports are reversed because the "standard" position for the Wii is vertical. If your Wii is all vertical, player one is the closest port to you.

Unless you've arranged your Wii to side-feed discs for some reason, it wll be the closest port to you regardless of which way you orient the system.

I don't understand how HudsonSoft's page can claim Dungeon Explorer comes out today and be wrong. I mean, wouldn't they know?
Sigh. My Wii points wait for Dungeon Explorer, just like they waited the last time it didn't show up when we thought it would.

The EU VC release day is friday, so look for new games there. It's not always the same games, though.
It should, since it is considered a GC controller.
