So, Dungeon Explorer comes to the VC - should I be excited about that? I never heared about this game before, but judging from the screenshots it looks like Gauntlet meets Zelda.

I just downloaded Gunstar Heroes yesterdays, and the coop modus is great in the sense of pure awesomeness, thought I already have played Gunstar Super Heroes on the GBA. I'm now looking forward for other VC games, but there's not much that is really appealing to me that I haven't played before. Bonk's Adventure in particulary caught up my interest, but I wonder if it's really worth the purchase for me (I'm not so much into old-school Jump&Runs, or 8-bit games in general).

Last but not least, did we hear anything about Faxandu coming to the VC? I own the original game, but I haven't played it that much back in those days. If anything, this would probably be the game I'm most looking forward for the VC.

I don't see a general Wii-thread, so I didn't know where to ask this, but here goes: Can anybody with a US Wii check the underside of their AC adapter to see what AC input it accepts? I know it should take 100V like all US devices, but aparantly some adapters are going around that can take 100-240V.

That sounds about right. I quoted some previous people in the thread on the last page about it (I think it was the last page, maybe 2 ago), and here is Hudson's page about it. I'm pretty excited. Wish it was here on time.

    Hey guys?

How do I get 5-player bomberman to work?

For some reason, instead of the one GC controller going to player 5, it and the player 1 Wiimote try to control player 1 at the same time.

Alternately, when I play with one Wiimote and 4 GC controllers, the Wiimote and 1p controller still try to control player one at the same time.

    Help?

Guys, I need your help!

So I beat SMB on Virtual Console last night after playing it with my wife for about an hour. I used the warps, just felt like seeing how fast I could get through the game. Was actually pretty pleased with my success.

But now it's in "you've unlocked a new adventure!" mode where all the enemies are beetles and everything moves faster, etc. I don't personally mind that, but there's no way my wife will play it. And it happens in both 1 and 2 player games.

How do I revert it to the normal game? I tried deleting the channel and redownloading it through VC, and amazingly that didn't work - it remembered the state of the VC game, including that I was now in "hard mode."

You can try one of two things

1: Each VC channel you download has it's own save file. It's kept with your other Wii saves in the Memory Management screen. Try deleting that game to see if you'll revert back to normal mode

2: You can also just turn off the console without exiting back to the Wii Menu. The save is created when you leave the game via the Home button, and is erased when you load it back up.

This method could probably also turn off the Same Character code for Street Fighter II (if you care for the CPU using the classic colors instead of the Champion colors)

Wouldn't you just click the Reset Software button in the Home Button menu?
I haven't tried this or anything, but I thought that would work. If not, delete the save data for the VC game, not the channel itself. The save data is in your Wii save data along with all your other save data for regular games.

I tried the reset thing, hoping it would work as well, but nope, it just resets it like hitting "reset" on the NES, and still remembers that I'd beaten the game.

    The 2nd suggestion, however...

Brilliant! Success. That was so much easier than I was making it. I just didn't realize there was a save file in addition to the channel file.

Thanks muchly! My marital SMB playing abilities are restored. :D

Okay, before any more wishlisting occurs, I have a SERIOUS problem to deal with regarding my HDTV and two virtual console games.

My setup: Wii -> Reciever -> Pioneer Elite 50" Plasma HDTV
The problem: Gunstar Heroes and Pinball won't work!
The infos: I can play Mario 64 just fine and all regular old Wii games.. however when I load up the two problematic games my TV switches input modes and tells me there is no input signal detected.. AKA: Big black screen. I still get sound from reciever to speakers. I can only, at that point, hit the Wii home button and the menu pops up (with the problem game in the background!!!) .. and from there I can go back to Wii Home.

Any problems for this HD Technology nub? I have run into this problem with Guitar Hero 2 when trying to use progressive scan mode (black screen w/ sound, and no signal detected).

    My TV: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/v3/pg/product/details/0,,2076_310069731_290043890,00.html

..so it had better not be a "specific to my TV" problem, and just an "idiotic user" problem.

    Thanks in advance.

I tried buying 2000 points today with a Visa credit card and after filling everything out I got an error. It said my info was not correct and made me start over. So I tried again and got the same error. I decided to try a different credit card afterwards and it finally worked. Now I check my credit card statement for the two cards and it says I was charged all 3 times. Even for the first two times that didn't work. I only got 2000 points but got charged 60 dollars =(. I'll call Nintendo up tomorrow =|.

It's a common problem. They put holds on your account for the amount when it tries to charge your card, but they should be reversed in a day or two. Calling Nintendo wouldn't hurt though.

Also, when you're filling out your credit card info while buying points, make sure you're entering your "County" not "Country". That's another common mistake people are getting errors over.

So I've been doing some research and I guess it's these older games not liking 480i or something. I *need* to have component cables to play some VConsole games? Bah. Shitty.

"Next-gen" shit sucks because you need all sorts of extra junk to actually play.

I can't figure out what the problem is. Some people can run these games just fine, and others can't run them at all, with completely different setups.

Nintendo hasn't said anything, so there is no solution yet. But if your current setup doesn't work, don't expect component cables to work either.

*Shrug* Lots of favorites aren't on there yet. They've made it quite clear they're going to stagger Virtual Console releases so that big VC games hit during lulls in the Wii release schedule, so that enthusiasm stays high for the system. Anybody could see your Super Mario World and raise you a Super Metroid, or Zelda: Link to the Past, or any of Nintendo's other all time classics.

They'll all get there. Patience.

Too many pages to see if someone has had/solved this problem, so I'll just post it.

Downloaded Zelda (NES) on the VC. It looks great and for the most part works. But I can't move the selection box on the start menu. I can access the start menu, but the arrows don't move the box. So I can't use any of my items. I pressed every button on the wiimote and the GC controller, nothing moves the selection box. Makes it pretty damn difficult to play.

    Anyone having similar issues?

Doesn't do anything. If I press select on the normal game screen, it mutes the music. If I press select on the pause/item screen, it does nothing at all. If I hold select and press up on the pause/item screen, it sends me to the Continue/Save/Retry menu for some reason, as though I died.

Regardless, none of those things let me equip the damn bow. :(

Ah, yeah, I guess that makes some sense. Suppose I'll go find some arrows.

Semi related note, what's the Select button for the GC controller? Anyone know? I'm playing the game with it, but I have to navigate the start and character screens with the Wiimote, because I can't figure out which button on the GC controller does it.

one thing I don't understand though is why they reversed the player ports. Why is player one all the way to the right now? It's no big deal, but seems odd.

I think the ports are reversed because the "standard" position for the Wii is vertical. If your Wii is all vertical, player one is the closest port to you.
Unless you've arranged your Wii to side-feed discs for some reason, it wll be the closest port to you regardless of which way you orient the system.

Mine is horizontal, and i turn it when i play GC games for that extra bit of controller cord length. (My Wavebirds have all died from beer drowning). The gamecube controller cord is too short, btw. Have we already discussed this sometime in the past?

Too many pages to see if someone has had/solved this problem, so I'll just post it.

Downloaded Zelda (NES) on the VC. It looks great and for the most part works. But I can't move the selection box on the start menu. I can access the start menu, but the arrows don't move the box. So I can't use any of my items. I pressed every button on the wiimote and the GC controller, nothing moves the selection box. Makes it pretty damn difficult to play.

    Anyone having similar issues?
Use the select button to select things.

There are some items that you cannot select until you've met certain prerequisites. You have to buy arrows to use with the bow, for instance. I thought it was a bug, too, until I remembered the shops. It'd been a long time since I'd last played this game.
