Someone's got to keep the masses happy while Soejima and Kaneko are working double time on all the brand new demon and character concepts for Shin Megami Tensei IV, so they brought in the second-stringers.
Is there any actual news on the possibility of a real SMT4 or is this just wishful thinking?
Complete and utter wishful thinking, but what else could they be working on?

It'll happen but it might be a while. Keep in mind that the main line skipped the entire PS1/N64/Saturn/Whatever else generation. I wouldn't be surprised if it skips this generation too and we just get spin-off titles like Persona.
just beat P4, great ending! Though the last boss was sort of a push over. dropping power charged 1k god hands and such every other turn would do that I guess. Great game, I'd give it an A+, enjoyed every second of it! Now to go back and beat P3....

Heh. Just beat P4 as well. I too liked it, but not as much as 3 (or even as much as DDS1&2). Probably because 3 was new and shiny and 4 was 'merely' an improvement.
Then again, maybe it was because this game was way too upbeat. SMT does dark and depressing very well and maybe I just disliked that they toned it down a bit.
I remember asking this exact question like a year ago and now here I am asking it again because I forgot and just have to know: What chapter does Rasputin officially get introduced and start causing mischief? I'm going very slowly and just finished chapter 1 and I think that was when I stopped the first time. I should be going into new territory now.
I think that the internet has been for years on the path to creating what is essentially an electronic Necronomicon: A collection of blasphemous unrealities so perverse that to even glimpse at its contents, if but for a moment, is to irrevocably forfeit a portion of your sanity.

eh, I like it better than P3, even though I haven't beaten it yet (40 hours in). The upbeatness was nice too as it was a welcome change for me, I like how smt is all dark and dreary but it was nice to get away from that for atleast one game. I also like the characters more than P3, it feels like they all have an equally important role in the story while some of the characters were just sorta "there" in P3, but like I said, I havn't beaten P3, so maybe that will change once I'm done with it.

Shadow Kanji - I just beat him and he was a pain in the ass. I was lvl22 and was struggling to keep up with casting Madia, debuffing. defending when he powered up, and still finding time to attack his stooges. And then I had hardly any HP at the end and neither did he and he'd charged up and was gonna use an all-hit attack next turn I could feel it so I risked it and went all out attack even though the fight had taken me like a half hour so far and juuuuuust killed him in time.
Argh. I have only three days left to finish Persona 3 within its rental period, and I've just entered September. Somehow, I don't think I'm going to be able to pull this off. And I'm certainly not going to be able to play The Answer, though from what I hear, that's probably a good thing!
I have mixed feelings about P3 so far. On the one hand, I took a dog out on a date to the cinema and got my yiff on. Koromaru totally puts out, dude.
On the other hand, Aigis. And Fuuka. And I think Ken is on the fast track to joining their ranks. But it's mostly Aigis.
The place incorporates optical illusions all over the place. Nothing too difficult if you use the auto-map, but I've never seen another dungeon quite like it.
I think that's partly because it's rare to find RPGs with the camera set at the same angle Nocturne has it.
So I figured, what the heck, and started a brand new game of P3.
Unfortunately, you're not allowed to save tonight or tomorrow evening and then the game time-skips to the seventeenth, only allowing you to save on the evening of the eighteenth. So I'll just have to pick this up again on the nineteenth.
Also, P3's opening is a lot more gripping than P4's. 3's punches you in the face with its mystery and strange atmosphere right away, whereas in 4 you've got to sit through Igor's tarot reading. And while I enjoy the character of Igor, it's not a gripping introduction.
No. No she does not. Neither voice, appearance, or behaviour, unless Mr Burns has had some significant changes ever since I've stopped watching The Simpsons.
On the other hand, Aigis. And Fuuka. And I think Ken is on the fast track to joining their ranks. But it's mostly Aigis.
Now be fair, while Aigis is definately a terrible character, she's nowhere near as bad as Ken or Fuuka. Does Fuuka remind anybody else of Mr Burns?
Well, Mr. Burns is a consistently amusing Scrooge figure in what used to be a pretty funny cartoon series, whereas Fuuka is a painfully dull middle-aged woman trapped in the body of a teenage girl with a voice like nails on the chalkboard of the soul. I mean, I can see the connection, but...
Oh, and Aigis must go through a fucking miraculous transformation if she's to be knocked off her awful character throne. Certainly, I have to listen to Fuuka clawing at my eardrums and butchering every (boring) line she's given several times in every single fight, and...
Oh, look, I just convinced myself that you're right. Aigis is a horrible character with horrible lines and a horrible voice actress and horrible voice direction and horrible animations and a horrible skill set, but you can at least turn her off by holding triangle whenever she opens her mouth in cutscenes, and by never putting her in your battle party, ever. Fuuka does not have an off button.

P4 > P3 so far. By a large margin.
I'm 16 hours in and at the part where
Rise get's kidnapped. Is it just me, or is that young detective, Adachi, kinda suspicious? I could swear the model of the killer in the fog looked like his.

Holy shit dude only 16 hours in and already there? Goddamn that took me like 30 to reach that part

It's all in the character art to me, the claw hands thing she's doing and her general posture just makes me think of Monty Burns in that episode where he adopts Bart "Ah yes, soon you'll develop a mighty hump"

She was horribly miscasted and it shows. In FES her actress learns how to act a little, but her battle lines are still as wooden as ever.
Maybe now you see why everyone liked Rise so much. Part of it was sheer relief at her not being Fuuka 2.0.

Well, I'm only level 29, so I didn't really do that much dungeon crawling. I usually do the dungeons like 3-4 days before the fog sets in,using the other time to get social links up. Then I fuse the strongest personas I can get and go rescue the victim.
Awww, shit guys, we missed Persona 3 day! How sad. Yesterday, a poor blue-haired Japanese(?) kid had to walk though a dark city riddled with coffins, and nobody even appreciated him. And any plans to do a day-accurate let's play have been ruined.

You know what? Nanowrimo's cancelled on account of the world is stupid.
So, what part of Fuuka turns you on, man? Is it the way she screeches "Wow, you're-all-SO-POW-ER-FUL!" every time you hit the triangle button? I really have a thing for women who make my ears bleed, too!

I think Fuuka changed in The Answer for character reasons, too.
I would think the loss of Main took some wind out of her sails.
Has anyone mentioned how Persona 4 has a really good translation and dub? Or does it get worse later on? I just cleared the second dungeon. Does a new character show up who sounds super annoying or anything?
Fuuka isn't a bad character, at all. She has some of the worst VA in the game, but even that isn't as bad as many people (myself included) like to make it out to be, outside of battle, at least.
Her in battle VA is exactly as awful as we all say it is.

But yeah, now that I've finished P4 I might just start up a day-by-day of P3.
I was busy fighting Shadows with my Persona and you just chill in a coffin!?
I'm riskin' my life here man!
Though it is kinda nice to have an additional hour per day. 8-)

Not really.
Well, there was one that annoyed me somewhat, but it wasn't exactly the fault of the voice actress, but more that of the character.
I'm in the crazy club, then.
