I don't know, Geoff Johns doesn't seems like the kind of guy to wantonly "Sue-ify" an old character. Why, A white Lantern would probably have to be a perfect warrior, capable of doing anything and everything at a moments notice, unstoppable, and perfect in the eyes of all others as well. I seriously doubt Johns would write Hal Jordan as such a character.
So you're saying Barry Allen will be the white lantern?
Hal isn't a he was joking you simpletons, either. Hal isn't a he was poking fun at how Geoff Johns does that look at the other sentences geniuses, for that matter.

Wow, this post could not make less sense.

I think it might be missing a few words. Like maybe half of them.

Speculation about White Lanterns and Rainbow Lanterns is so rampant that I don't seriously expect either will happen anymore. If Johns actually was planning on going that route in the first place, rampant negativity and mockery of the idea would probably be enough to sway him from that path.
Well, yeah, I see your point. Comic fans have predicted poor conclusions in the past and been proven right by writers months down the line.
Still, I'd have thought that one of the advantages of the format is the ability to gauge people's reactions as your storyline unfolds and consider them as you pen your conclusion, whereas every other format demands that you hand in everything from start to finish all at once.
And it's not like last minute changes haven't been made in the past, though those are generally the result of editorial mandate and also completely senseless, because goddamnit nobody wants to read about Hawkgirl.
I don't understand why people have started dogging on Johns so heavily lately. Is it because all the shitty writers have been fired by DC and there's nobody left to hate?
Lest we forget so soon that Johns gave us the Braniac arc in Superman, all of the JSA relaunch, the Sinestro War, and GL Rebirth? Lets give the guy the benefit of the doubt and just assume that the war of the light is not gonna end Captain Planet style.
Was there any reason the hawks were kept from death, besides to fuck with Blackest Night 0?
I don't think so.
Which is strange, because usually arbitrarily killing people is the probably, not deciding to save them on a whim and, "Hey, did you draw those pages already? Well fuck, just change the dialogue so they're in a cemetery but talking about how the people didn't die."
Edit: It's not so much that Johns is bad, it's that he has an incredible hard-on for two really, really boring characters. And nothing he's done with them changes the fact that they're very amazingly boring.

I do it good-naturedly. I like his GL. I like the story. But that doesn't mean he bats 1.000 and besides it's a way of making fun of Robos. Plus what durandal said.
I've never found Jordan to be boring. He's my favorite of the human GL's. As far as Barry, I can't comment. I have very little knowledge of the Flash series. I tried the Flash relaunch of '07 because the cover art was really cool, but man was that a mistake. The only reason I'm giving the Flash another chance now is because of Johns. If it was any other writer, I probably wouldn't bother.
Basically my comic collection and knowledge of modern comics starts in '05. I used the Infinite Crisis and OYL stuff as a jumping in point, and so my Flash experience is pretty limited.
The problem with Jordan, for me, is that he often seems to have no underlying motive for his actions beyond the requisite desire to save the day. However, there's a good chance that Jordan's interactions with the Blue Ring will eventually shed some light on exactly what he's fighting for on a personal level, so that's something to look forward to.
Also, Barry Allen has the same problem, and that problem is likewise being addressed in his book. Nobody seems to like what's going on in that book, but the point is that he knows a thin characterization when he sees one and will try to compensate.

There's way too many things that annoy me about Geoff Johns and I'm way too lazy to type out multiple paragraphs, so I'm just going to list them:
1) He seems to furiously masturbate to Hal Jordan every time he writes a GL book. Whatever happened to Hal and John appearing in GL, while Kyle and Guy appear in GLC? John hasn't had anything more than a couple of cameos in GL, which sucks since he's my favourite.
2) He loves emos, even going so far as to completely change characters just so they can be emo. Bart, Superboy, Barry Allen and Wonder Girl stand out, though I'm sure there are more. Hal's been pretty emo at times as well.
3) His JSA relaunch started with a ton of promise and fizzled with a shitty JLA/JSA crossover and the super long, super boring Kingdom Come arc.
4) He retcons the shit out of everything. Sometimes it works (Brainiac), sometimes it's dumb (Superboy is half Lex Luthor) and sometimes it's utterly stupid (Barry Allen's parents and Power Girl's current origin).
There's more but I'm tired. I will say that I still enjoy a lot of his work, I just think he's pretty over-rated.
Honestly, I don't particularly care about origins unless they serve as a source of motivation. It doesn't really matter to me if someone lands on Earth in a spaceship or finds a magic ring or whatever, because nine times out of ten it isn't going to come up in a story or inform the character's actions in any way.
I'm not sure what I'm buying yet outside the mini and Tales of the Corps. I already get GL/GLC. So it's a matter of how much I care about the effects on Supes, Batman, WW, Titans and JSA--none of which I currently follow.
I regularly buy GL and GLC so anything having to do with BN that's in those books I will get. I will also get the core BN books since its my understanding that they are going to be independent of the regular monthlies.
I also regularly buy Batman and Detective and Superman and Action Comics so if any of these have to do with BN, I will have them. Otherwise I will not.
Yes, those have been circulating around the internet for quite a while now. I actually like Leia's a lot, which seems to not be in your montage. Mind spoilering them due to their size, though?

White Lantern, Black Flash.
That's not the prevailing opinion around these parts.
Hal is not infallible. By a long shot.
Wow, this post could not make less sense.
Works on contingency? No, money down!
My translation.
Makes the most sense to me. Johns has to have a reason for liking him so much.
A ring on each hand, 2 toe rings and a prince albert to finish the deal. Maybe an earring or nose ring if he wants a sixth

This is one of those times.

Reason? I don't think reason had anything to do with it.

Because fuuuuuck that noise
The event book, the Tales tie-in, and the GL books is enough to kill my wallet as it is
I also regularly buy Batman and Detective and Superman and Action Comics so if any of these have to do with BN, I will have them. Otherwise I will not.
But that's actually pretty awesome.
