Wasn't prot supposed to get some kind of spell interrupt added to one of its abilities? I could have swore I heard about it in the past, but don't see anything on the recent changes.

Alright, ret pally dps is insane. Just hit level 80 on mine and with just the titansteel destroyer and a full set of the pvp saronite gear (plus the epic blacksmithing helm) I was pulling out 2k dps in heroics.
For hitting 4 buttons in a simplistic order with the occasional 5th and 6th button.
Funny thing is I got the OS 25 Healing chest as an off set piece .
It dropped our first 25-man kill ever. I'd gotten the T7 chest from Naxx, so I passed it over to our newer Holy Paladin that was wearing garbage. Have yet to see it drop since then. He's currently quit the game for school or something. I am saddened.
Decided since i finally got my holy set finished and got everything gemmed and enchanted im going to take a break from tanking this weekend and heal 25 man naxx. Ill post my armory when i spec holy this weekend.
My one piece of advice is to find out if you're running with a Ret Paladin or not. If you are, check that they have Kings(fail if they don't). You can run with a deeper Ret Spec, which will allow you to pick up some extra +crit.
I think im not in dire need of crit really. I have 31% crit and 20k mana with kings up so im not worried about getting the extra 3%. Got a couple things from a naxx 10 run last night. Was an undying run, but someone failed on Heigan so we just got every other achievement in 10 naxx. Picked up the ring from Anu'rehkan and the cloak from KT. Also I picked up Deaths Bite, which is funny cause its the only piece of ret gear i have and its the second best in slot ret weapon atm.

No wonder certain other dps classes are pissed.
It will get worse. A good deal worse, apparently.
Yeah, and I'm sad. I pumped out 4.3k DPS on Patchwerk in my 10 man, coming in 1st in DPS but 2nd in damage to our hunter (who does INSANE damage considering he's not the optimal raid spec, I think).
If I could find the time to do 25 mans, I'd love a shot at a Betrayer of Humanity or Armageddon. For now, I'm shooting for Death's Bite (and will never see it drop).

Ret dps is great at the low end of the gear spectrum, but against equally geared and skilled players, it doesn't scale that well. Additionally, we've had dps nerfed thus far on the PTR for 3.1, though they have said they're gonna fix that.
I think im not in dire need of crit really. I have 31% crit and 20k mana with kings up so im not worried about getting the extra 3%.
Personal preference, really. If you've got other things you want to do with those talent points, it's not going to really hurt your overall performance. You're geared just fine for off-healing/alt-healing those goof around nights. The nit-picking and "min-maxing" doesn't really come into play until the top-end of the spectrum. Grats on the loots and /jealous of your chestpiece!
Yeah, I knew it didn't scale the same as other dps as far as gear goes, and that at equal levels of gear dps is far more balanced than a lot of people give it credit for. (excepting a few situations.)
Right now I'm undecided as to whether or not I should dual spec tanking or healing. I've got a pretty damn well geared disc priest main, so it seems like I'd get more out of tanking, but pally healing looks so fun. And I've already got decent gear for it, what with getting like a million heroic drops no one else wanted.
Would it be worth spending DKP to get the Girdle of Chivalry? It plus Surge Needle would keep me hit capped until I replace my neck with the sapphiron one, as well as give me 11 str, but seeing as how I lose a lot of crit and expertise to gain that and some haste I can't decide if it's worth actually using DKP to get.
Also, worrying about ret maxed dps isn't very useful if you're not in a fast progressing guild - chances are you can make up for any class difference with skill. I've started falling behind on fights like Loatheb and Patchwerk, but managed 13% overall dps on our 25 +3 kill yesterday, admittedly with a few dead dps when we started wailing on Sarth. You can argue that the fight artificially boosts our dps with adds, but unlike Noth other such fights like Noth or Faerlina (or Sarth +0 for that matter), extra add damage is very useful for keeping the adds under control.
If the goal was to make Prot PvP viable I'd expect a bunch of changes. A single change is just kind of odd. I'm not complaining, I'll take random buffs it's just kind of weird to me.
It might be weird to me if I hadn't been playing WoW through over 4 years of random buffs.
Anyway, I wonder whether or a protection paladin or a protection warrior is/will be more viable in PvP.

Warrior, is my bet, due to the sheer number of interrupts.
However, a paladin would have an easier time dealing damage when not being attacked...Prot warriors don't get much rage when they're not being hit.

Warrior, by far. More stuns, more utility, more control.

I think this is a case of two Blizz departments not talking to each other when changing things.

Personally I like to stay as close to the hit cap as possible, but if you are regularly having a Draenai in your group, then just the Surge Needle Ring is good enough to get you by. Also you have so much crit currently that if you have a fury warrior or feral druid in your raids, that libram is nigh useless.

Uh?
So, they took one of our most important core abilities, turned it into a deep prot tree talent, and then changed a glyph to give MORE spiritual attunement for a seal that is used by a tree that won't even be able to get SA?
Hahaha
I got a good laugh out of that.

I thought they said that was kind of intended?
Because they wanted to move away from T5 to T6 being a few more stats increased.
Yeah, I guess I'd never replace those green level 69 boots from Borean Tundra if it had decent stats on it rather than ArP and haste.

their point is that they dont want the gear to improve simply by having 4 mroe points of each stat on it...they want to intentionally itemise low level gear slightly sub-optimally so that they can itemise the topend stuff perfectly.

Also, regarding SA, don't stress about it yet. GC basically said they want prot to get mana from SA and Sanct, Holy to get it from Illumination, and Ret to get it from Judgements of the Wise, and all 3 to use Divine Plea. I'm sure JotW will get tuned upwards as soon as the PTR test results for ret paladins without SA tell them exactly what they need to do to the talent

that glyph might be good for prot if it doesnt require SoB to be active
Or hell, even if it does. Seal threat is a pretty low portion of overall threat for prot, maybe in a low mana situation they can use SoB instead of SoW.

Yeah, I'm not worried about having too little hit really, just about getting the best dps. Since there a good chance I won't get the Maly quest neck before 3.1, I think I'll skip it after all. I always have a draenei in my party. Have only ever seen Surge Needle drop once though. As for the libram, you're right, but the Noth one has only ever dropped twice for us, first time I passed since the DS one was better at the time, second I wasn't in the raid. Hopefully I can get it before 3.1 makes the Venture Co. libram even worse.
Also, some blue replied to a ret issues thread saying they weren't done making changes, so I wouldn't worry much about it yet.
Ok so, here's my Paladin in his holy gear and all that. I got a couple upgrades last night, the helm from thaddius, the cape from heigan and the legs from sapphiron. Any comments or advice is welcome.

Yeah I've never seen the Surge Needle Ring myself, though I've been trying desperately to get the Sarth2d helm and that ring. Those are the only two upgrades I still want prior to Ulduar. Though I've considered putting in for all the singly BiS stuff for when I have to break my set bonus in 3.1.

yeah, they are very frequently updating the PTR so it's not a big deal that ret didn't have a mana regen change yet.
It does mean that SoB recoil is pointless now and makes me wonder if they will get rid of it and admit to SoC being useless outside of leveling.
There needs to be a way to punch people through their computers. Badly geared mages taking Essence of Gossamer over me makes the veins in my skull expand at a frightening rate.

Blood is still better in most situations in PvP as well though Dhalphir. And my concern with more mana back from JotW is that they still haven't fixed the issue where if none of the judgement damage lands, you get no mana back.
