I know rite? Went from 50-53 this weekend myself. What's that, huge mob of undead? You need another Holy Wrath? Well, if you say so!

It's like a fucking all you-can-exorcise buffet out here.

It's going to be so weird being able to exorcise anything. So weird.

    And so hot.

    :winky:

I think that can take a Belf paladin to something like 5 spell interrupts if you glyphed for it.

Edit: Protection paladins I should say.

I've got a Pally in the works, I'm stalling to get the BoA 2H Axe (Am annoyed because I prefer swords for a Pally, but its freaking sweet for leveling Ret) then start tearing my way to 80 to round out my collection of class roles.

You can get a BoA 2h sword from Wintergrasp. Costs a few hundred Stone Keeper's Shards.

I have considered it, problem is I've lost the PvP bug (in TBC I used to PvP non-stop) plus its considerably less efficient than the Axe. Substituting Resilience for Crit does not seem like a good choice for PvE.

I do have almost 200 shards just lying around currently, but the only way I get them is when we hold WG and I instance.

125 Shards or..... 4 badges on my DK..... what can I say? I've got that American need for instant gratification!

    So.
Ret is pretty fun. I got the revered chest piece from the Kalu'ak, a couple of quest reward rings/trinks/and cloak, that blue axe from a Warsong quest chain and some cobalt gear from my BS buddy.
Smackin things pretty good now. Once I got my 2h axe skill up anyway. 201 is not sufficient for doing anything in Northrend.

At the very least, the exo glyph needs to make it so exo is also melee (or judgement) range. They are nerfing Imp HoJ and putting a portion of the CD reduction deeper in prot which is possibly to compensate for paladins having an interrupt.

So I got to be the full asshole tonight in guild. We had another Undying run going (every other attempt has met with deaths from people doing stupid things) and everything is great, we're up to Gluth, decimate incoming, no biggie judge one last time and hit Esc a few times to break combat. Decimate lands, and actually kills me. Doesn't reduce my health to 5%, it kills me. And I got to be the jackass that ruined the Undying run (and on a night when really we had the best crew possible to do it). I also now have a very sore right hand and a dented front door. D:

This is why I recommend command when that message appears, despite not recommending its use anywhere else.

Of course, our last Gluth attempt, we had some new tank doing it, and I approached the fight like I normally do. I overaggroed and died literally before I even looked up. Like, despite waiting for him to position the boss, it took me less than 20 seconds to overaggro. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFF. I want my old tank back.

Yeah I've never had an issue with decimate before though, I've always just waited till a few seconds before the decimate timer is up and just exited combat and waited for it to land, flash myself and kill skellies then back to dps. Never have I switched to command, and never have I killed myself after a decimate. What's doubly stupid though is that it's not supposed to outright kill you, just reduce your health. My combat log shows the last thing hitting me as the decimate though, so either I just got fucked, or the kickback from that last judgement was on about a 4 sec delay.

I don't want to be "that guy" when it comes to the Seal of Command vs. Seal of the Martyr debate, but here's my two cents on the issue.

Whenever I use Martyr, it's true: mobs die a lot quicker, but I also notice that I finish the fight at 80% hp and 85% mana. healing back up to full puts me at 100 and 74% respectively. If I fight two mobs simultaneous-like I can expect to have around 50% health coming out of the fight. Lastly, I play on a PvP server, and I like the option of fighting any horde I run into, so I'm always concerned about what my hp/mana state is. When i'm questing with SoC, I can end all fights at 95%/95% even though they take about 16s or so to SotM 10s. Overall, I don't think SotM is any quicker for questing, and it's certainly more risky on a PvP server.

No one is trying to tell anyone that Martyr is a soloing seal.

Its a raid seal, pure and simple, and it should always be the default raid and instancing seal. Basically, anytime you have a healer around, run Martyr.

In PVP with a pocket healer, Martyr/Blood is still pretty useful, but you have to be careful of who you are fighting and how much damage you will take. I use Blood soloing actually, and always have full health and mana, but I'm also on a PVE server...even when I flag, no one messes with me :|

Blood is generally the seal of choice in high rated arena as well.

I wouldn't level with it, but I barely do any solo'ing beyond the JC daily and such so I don't bother with command. On Gluth, I just pay attention and use my art of war proc immediately after decimate.

So I was lamenting how I actually need to drink now that I went ret, and trying to figure out how long I could go with Kings, wisdom etc, the other night. Then, last night I logged on to check some auctions, and I glance at my main actionbar, and notice the empty spot in number 2. Between switching to ret, and making a bunch of macros to consolidate my blessings and seals, I'd gained a bunch of space. I thought "Man that hole looks ugly. Also whats that shiny spell next to it?"
    pause
"Oh right! Divine Plea. That spell I love. "
I forgot it wasn't Holy only.

Is Seal of Command worth it for leveling?

    Extremely totally very yes.

Sometimes you'll get a dry streak and essentially autoattack a mob to death, but that is far outweighed by how often you'll blast mobs down in 1 or 2 hits + judgement.

Personally, especially after looking at a ton of parse info today, I'd say to stay as close to or above the hit cap as you can. My current wishlist would put me at 259 of the necessary 263, and I'm gonna try raiding like that once I get it, but I just can't see running the risk of missing a judgement for both the mana gain and the raw loss in damage output. Sure you can go below and pray to the RNG gods, but I'm a fan of consistency, and my dps is exceedingly consistent.

However if you don't mind going below the cap, I'd say to try and at least stay over 200. That keeps you in a pretty close range of the cap.

Yeah, I'm messing around with stuff, but with my new trinket from last night replacing the Red Dragon's Sphere, I need to regem for some more +hit, but I don't wanna lose too much +str. I wanted to definitely stay over 200, but at this point it's a matter of +16 hit vs +16 str. I'm not gonna regem beyond that, I've decided, though.

    Thanks for the help!

I gem and gear for it.

I hit 8% hit in my PvE gear and that means no misses. If I have to give up some crit/str/sta for it, so be it.

Oh yeah, recount is still picking up glancing blows. Can someone explain this phenomenon to me? My weapon skill is maxed.

I'm not an expert on melee dps, but so far as I know, it's unavoidable. I guess it goes up with mob level. Casters have something similar with partial resists.

With the 2pc set bonus, and without the Libram of Radiance, Divine Storm will actually hit just as hard as Crusader Strike and has the advantage of refreshing Righteous Vengeance if it crits. My current long ass rotation is:

    J
    DS
CS/Cons (multi mob pulls or trash get Cons)
    Cons/CS
J (Usually pop wings just before this judgement depending on the fight and when my guild will Bloodlust)
    Exo
    CS
DS (You'll notice I clipped the DS in order to get the CS off, if you don't time this just right, you won't get Judge off without clipping it. And if you try to wait for DS here, you won't be able to get off the CS)
    J
    Cons
    CS
    Divine Plea
    J
And go back to the initial rotation, just filling in everything as it fits in.

It works, just try it. And yes, with the Libram of Radiance CS will hit and crit slightly harder than DS, but it still won't refresh RV.

    Ret question incoming...

Finally getting my turn in the sun with T7.5 but fuck me I am losing a ton of hit rating. I just read on EJ that you should never gem for hit rating, but how the hell am I supposed to stay capped otherwise? Or should I just say fuck it and go expertese cap?

Also, I need a new libram and trinket. Aside from the Mirror of truth and the Greatness card from the DMF (which I am closing in on), what are some decent upgrades? My libram and my 2nd trinket are still green.

The venture coin libram is the best one you can get until the gladiator one which is best in slot PvE.

As for hit rating, don't worry about it. I have raided 25s as Ret(It's my offspec so I'm nowhere near fully geared, mostly 200 and a couple 213 epics, still using Demise) with about 170 hit rating, and I am always top 5. I easily do 4k+ on the average boss in my meager gear. Seriously, just gem every socket 16 STR except for what you need for your meta(JC ftw), and just don't think about the lack of hit. If you gem for hit you will lose DPS compared to gemming for pure STR.

In TBC seals didn't proc off every attack and we didn't have DS so we had to make sure we never missed so hit cap was a huge priority. Now, STR, and thus AP are king by far.

The badge libram is a massive pile of suck. Go get the venture co. Libram of retribution until you can get the libram off Noth25.

As far as maintaining hit rating? It's tough to be honest and requires careful searching through all possible upgrades and having a clear path of upgrades if you wanna stay capped. My gear shows one of the possible gearsets to maintain hit cap. I knew everything I wanted before I ever saw any of it drop though.

You don't. Don't worry about it. If I remember right the best available ret DPS gear has something like 97 hit rating on it.
Or should I just say fuck it and go expertise cap?

Don't worry about the expertise cap either. Follow something like Lootrank for a guide. The best ret DPS gear probably isn't expertise capped either.

The best libram currently is the one from Venture Bay as Josh and Nambkab noted. DMC:Greatness and Mirror are the best available trinkets. The only one that's arguably better than Mirror is the Five Flights trinket from Sarth.
