1) I'm leveling my arms warrior, she has jewelcrafting, and i'm finally getting sockets. I understand ArP doesn't help until you have a lot of it, so bascially when should I start gemming ArP instead of Strength? Now? When I get to northrend? When I hit 80? When I get to Ulduar (she's an alt so that may not even happen)?
2) An old patchnote says "Slam now suspends a melee swing instead of reseting it". Is this still true? Basically, I can slam whenever I feel like it? I havent' used slam at all up till now, but I'm about to have the talent points available to bring it down to .5 seconds, which I was planning to do and slip it into my rotation somewhere. Basically, wtf is up with slam?

Yes, too bad this change does nothing to help with boss tanking if you happen to get a huge avoidance streak. 5 rage "missed" hit is nothing, especially on bosses like vezax that hit very slow. Also where am I supposed to get 3 talent points from to put into shield spec.

Link your spec and we can have a look, the Warrior prot tree is really thin so there must be some points you can free up.

there isn't any points, but you'll gain threat by taking points from Cruelty.

For ages, people here have said it's this. Specifically, "Spec Deep Wounds or GTFO, and you better not have more than 2 points in Shield spec noob".
So if it suddenly taking all 5 points is the hip thing to do, it beats me where you'd yank the points from. It'd either be from Deep Wounds, some mix from Fury, or switching the spread with Anticipation. And I'm sure there are people out there with a ton of reasons why each option is a big no-no. So who knows.

Do the 2 points in cruelty (and 1 of the points into imp. revenge - where I'd get the other one from probably) really make that much difference in TPS that wouldn't be earned back by not being rage starved by an avoidance streak?
Geniune question because I'm too stupid to do the maths.
Actually, maybe this? Skip Shield Mastery entirely and only 4 points in Anticipation. Logic being, if block value is the turd stat right now, what's another 30%, right?

Reminds me of old timey Seal of Command. I remember in STV with the quest mace I got 3 crits of over 1k, instantly destroyed some poor hordie.
As for warriors, the Engineer glove rocket launcher tinker is the best glove enchant isn't it? maxdps shows the best glove enchant as adding 16 or 18dps, and I figure the rocket is something like 24 or so, just macro it onto BT so it gets fired off every time its ready.

No, but if you only have one prot build it's typically better all-around to steal those two points for Improved Disciplines anyway.
If WoW-Heroes is to be believed, yes, more or less. I'd suggest you get a hodir/wintergrasp enchant on your shoulders, and the head enchant for the Argent Crusade.
Gear seems passable, but that spec has got to go. For starters, Armored to the Teeth is always a priority over Cruelty, and Puncture is a terrible place to spend 3 points. Particularly in Naxx, there is no reason to run any spec without Deep Wounds, so a 15/5/51 or 15/3/53 config is your best bet.
You don't need defense so I'm not sure why you gem it and stamina is normally better than an other stat so when you have need to put a gem in a red or yellow socket you should probably use a X stat/ 12 stam gem if you want the socket bonus or you need it for your meta, however on your gear for example your belt socket is prismatic so I would suggest a 24 stam gem there and then its kind of up to you to decide if the +6 stam socket bonus on your other pieces is worth using a X/12 stam gem for. Also dodge is generally better than parry since you get more % per rating and the DR is higher.
The only reason I had Def gems in my gear, outside of maybe 1 or 2 bonuses, is that there was a point where I was mostly in blues and some of those blues were extremely biased towards defense, and my concern was that in the process of upgrading to more balanced epics, I would actually fall under the cap. I'm mostly past that transitory phase now.
As soon as I get the last shred of rep for my helm enchant, I'll probably ditch the def gems.
Devastate: Weapon damage and bonus per Sunder Armor on the target increased by 100%. This ability now requires a shield to be equipped.
Translation = dual spec or gtfo?
DPS as prot will go up. Just gotta keep that shield on silly!
I meant more in PvE. I haven't done the whole prot dps thing since dual spec (well I haven't played in a month anyway, but before that), but at that point it involved dual wielding and devastate. In PvE when not offtanking, do they really expect prot warriors to dps with a sword and board with just the rage generated from swinging a 1hander? Do they expect prot warriors to always be tanking? Or do they expect all prot warriors to have dual spec?

Throwing away the damage that Shield Slam does for dual wielding Devastate's is bloody stupid. Like Dhalp said, Prot does more damage with a sword and shield than dual wielding or even a 2 hander.
For the occasional fight like Freya or Ignis and whatnot where one is forced to be in tank gear but still be predominantly DPS, yeah I guess it kinda blows you can't be in a real spec and gear. But there's nothing to be done about it, so you just gotta suck it up. For everything else, that's where the beauty of the dual spec comes in.
It's an odd change forcing a shield, but it changes nothing. It's a buff through and through.

It's a good buff. Back in the day, on the PTR servers for the 3.0 patch, Devastate was so good that DPS warriors were using it with dual wield and it was beating out other real DPS specs. To make sure that it wasn't being used in that way, they nerfed the hell out of it and made it the absolute worst button on a Prot Warriors action bar. Glad its going to become more useful.
Levelling as MS is so much recockulous burst, it's almost unfair. :X
Make sure to fight mobs with a very short stun, endless second wind procs (once you're high enough for said talent) make grinding "when does charge / intercept recharge?"
If you really want to speed grind, remember you can pull mobs from range using taunt (and heroic throw when you're finally high enough level for it). Not a huge timesaver, but a nice trick to pull some extra meat before a sweeping strikes whirlwind / bladestorm.
People will think I bought it rather than knowing I tanked Council for the first time tonight and won it.
Also tried some Mimiron tonight. Could get his phase 2 down to about 30% a few times but I need to tweak my spec to help out. Still got some throwbacks from my Protection levelling days.

I'll never forget the days of bladestorming my way out of any situation... It's a great "Oh Shit!" button, but even better as a "Fuckit" button for the 4 mobs guarding that quest item you need to harvest. It felt like pure godliness, once every 3 minutes...
With double damage devastates that puts it back at 3.0 beta numbers doesn't it?
Isn't it pretty reasonable now to equip a slow MH for the devastate spam?

So I've got this warrior see, leveling as arms. I like how overpower is amazing with this spec. Should I swap out to fury (for leveling) when I hit 60?

It's a personal choice really. I like Fury because with the glyph, Bloodthirst heals for 2% a hit, completely negating the need for food, bandages, and even the regen ability we get. Any time I tried Arms, while stuff dies fast the damage eventually adds up and I gotta rest for a moment.
Plus I still think whipping around 2 2-handers in a whirlwind is awesome as hell.

I have an easier time deciding on a fury build when plotting out an end-game DPS build. For leveling I'm slightly dismayed because I'm not comfortable with being in berserker stance while out questing (that 20% strength buff looks nice, don't get me wrong).

a slow tanking weapon will be more useful now with a more powerful devastate...it was already somewhat close between something like Broken Promise and Red Sword...with the only reason Red Sword was higher being Heroic Strike.
With Devastate doing more, a slow mainhand would bump your threat up...but not by enough to justify sacrificing all the tanking stats on the current Ulduar tank weapons...since there currently is not a slow tank weapon.
