So I installed Ubuntu a while ago on my laptop, but I was never able to get it connected to my network wirelessly. Now, I am taking Operating Systems and apparently I can get some hands on experience using concepts I learn in class if I use Ubuntu... so I really want to learn the OS.
First step is to get the wireless working. I can get the wireless working easily in Vista... but not in Ubuntu. I choose my network, put in my passphrase and choose WPA2 personal... but nothing happens. Does this make sense to anyone? Is there something that I have to do to make the wireless work, because it's really annoying to plug my laptop into my router whenever I want to get online
Due to various issues, Ubuntu distributions don't support all wireless cards out of the box, particularly the older versions of Ubuntu. Next time, just remember to install all the updates on a wired connection first, and all your wireless problems should be solved.
