I'm looking for some new music to buy on Itunes. When I'm working out at the gym it helps when I'm listenning to some of the harder tracks I own so I'll list some bands (warning, some are a bit emo) and I'm looking for some suggestions on others bands or albums by the bands listed that have been released in the past year or so.
Thrice
Atreyu
Biffy Clyro
Bullet for my Valentine
Coheed and Cambria
He is Legend
Thursday
Unearth
As I Lay Dying
In Flames
Older A7X
God Forbid
Evergreen Terrace
All That Remains
I haven't listened to hardcore in probably over a year, but those are the bands that I dig enough to keep in my library.

In order of my preference. YMMV.
Protest The Hero
The Fall Of Troy
Mastodon
Enter Shikari
Bring Me The Horizon
American Me
Cancer Bats
Trivium (to a certain degree)
Most of my library is heavier stuff than that, but they should be ok for what you're looking for (hardcore/metalcore).
If you're looking for something heavier then those you should make sure you've tried all the essential 80's trash like Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Testament, Sepultura, Pantera, Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Kreator and Judas Priest.
One of the few hardcore bands I like. Most hardcore I don't like, because I get bored of standard song structures quickly. Hopesfall did some more interesting stuff though, early on.
Also second on I Killed the Prom Queen. I like the old singer with the irritating screechy voice. I don't know why. I just do.
I would recommend that you sample something from each of the following. This is what I listen to when I hit the gym, and it transforms me into an angry machine.
So-called Groove Metal:
Lamb of God ("Forgotten (Lost Angels)")
Devil Driver
Technical Death:
Arsis ("The Sadistic Motives Behind Bereavement Letters")
Psycroptic
Death:
Arch Enemy ("Rise of the Tyrant")
In Flames
Modern Life Is War- these guys broke up recently. fucking amazing melodic hardcore. Their best song is easily DEADRAMONES. The Black Flag of our generation.
Ceremony- Best hardcore punk band alive. Absolutely phenomenal no matter which album you pick. Listen to Violence Violence then get Still Nothing Moves You. They're out of California and relatively obscure but Davey Havok covered Straight Edge Revenge by Project X with them at a local show last November. I cannot recommend them enough.
Versus- Political hardcore. Just broke up. So fucking good.
Sabertooth Zombie- Local California band. I have never heard a band like this in my life. So much power and energy in their songs.
Trash Talk- Awesome hardcore.
HeWhoCorrupts- Political grindcore. Crazy, mind blowing shit.
Necrophagist- 90s death metal but still some of the most intense music I've heard.
Well, it is Heavy Metal but I would heartily recommend Black Sabbath. Dehumanizer in particular is a fantastic album, though it is a bit on the GRIMDARK side.

Probably my favourite album by them. Even though its very dark, it's still catchy enough to singalong to.
Painkiller by Judas Priest is a must own. Videos in the spoilers.
Megadeth's Rust in Peace is probably the best thrash album I've heard and I would highly recommend it along with Peace sells and Countdown to Extinction.
Acid Bath! It's a little older, but it's definitely worth a listen if you aren't familiar, far and away my favorite metal, though lots of good stuff has been said already too.
All That Remains, As Blood Runs Black, At the Gates, Between the Buried and Me, The Fall of Troy (older), In Flames, Killswitch Engage, My Bitter End, My Children My Bride, Protest the Hero, Summers End, Through the Eyes of the Dead, War of Ages
Abigail Williams
seriously, check these guys out. They started doing the metalcore scene, which seems to be what you're looking for, but their debut album moved a bit away from it and is excellent.
Children of Bodom
A lot of metalheads will look down on you for liking them, but they are one of my favorite bands ever.
Nile.
Awesome technical death metal.
There's a lot of stuff out there dude. Metal is one of the most diverse genres out there.
I dont care what anyone says. I dont care if they can play their songs live or not.
Their recorded shit is awesome.
I don't care what anyone says either. They are amazing live. I saw them at the Ogden in Denver back in December, and it was epic. Turisas played before them, and they were amazing too. Dragonforce was spot on, didn't miss a note. It was one of the best show's I've been to.
Actually, Iron Maiden is another excellent Heavy Metal band that is definitely worth checking out. Though some of their songs tend to meander into boring 5 minute power solos that don't go anywhere, their good stuff is mind blowing.
Most of the other bigger bands I would have recommended have already been recommended, so here's a couple of up and coming fucking awesome metal bands. Body of Scars - Unless they've updated the page in the last couple of days, the first two tracks they have available are currently just raw recordings and have no bass player, but they are still good.
Vindicator - up and coming thrash band. These guys are hit or miss for me as I don't always care for the singer, but there's some kick ass rocking going on, too.
Job for a Cowboy (Doom EP was simple, yet still pretty broootal)
The Number 12 Looks Like You.
The Dillinger Escape Plan
Can't go wrong with those :^:

Guys, seriously, black metal and grindcore != metalcore. Chances are that the OP is going to hate most of the recommendations in this thread because most people tend not to go from Atreyu to fucking black metal.
Most of this thread is like me saying I like Metallica and then people recommending that I go listen to Burzum
