I may wait until I see some reviews for Outsiders, since the one-shot didn't exactly wow me. Amber Atoms and Johnny Monster look like a lot of fun, and it's nice to finally get a new issue of Firebreather.

I thought the special was pretty good. It wasn't action packed, but it had great character moments.

I felt like the whole thing could have been greatly condensed, without losing much. Geo-Force was just the same old crybaby bullshit he's become famous for lately, the Creeper's segment seemed pointlessly dragged out and didn't say much, and Metamorpho and Katana's bits could have easily been done the same way as Black Lightning and Halo's, in a split two page spread. Plus, the big cemetery spread at the start of the book just seemed like a waste of page space.

There was some stuff I enjoyed, like Alfred watching Bruce's hologram, and Roy Raymond Jr.'s whole bit. But there's part of me that wishes someone else would get the Owlman identity, now that his has been usurped. You know, another chubby techie dude, who's a big disgrace to his famous, influential family. A dude who inspired a famous Owl-based character.

If only there was a dude like that, that had maybe been recently returned to life through time-traveling shenanigans, and had a connection to a bunch of Bat-characters.

Oh come on, I'm obviously joking.

No, I didn't like it because the whole thing could have been done in twelve pages, and then had room to set up what the future direction of the book would be.

As is, if someone wanted to know what happens in the book I could just say, "Alright, see the cover? Those are the Outsiders now," and save them a few bucks.

It wasn't awful, just terribly bereft of actual content and story.

I wasn't buying Rebellion although I was pleased with the issues that tied into Vector. Invasion sounds okay... I'm not a huge fan of the Vong era.

Honestly, in spite of its flaws, I wish the comics could be more like the current Clone Wars series. More action scenes, new planets, good variety of stories... Legacy has its moments but there's a lot of talk, not enough action. The stand-alone issues have been some of my favorites.
