there is someone already working on the roster...can't remember who right now. But give it time, they are very busy.

Also, yeah. She could only trade 50 buttons--but a good amount of us, to my recollection, were totally cool handing it out to folks who just asked politely for it.

really? well I don't know how I'll feel when I'm down there but right now I don't feel like just giving away my badges to people. There would have to be some sort of trade done for it...

Well I figure 50 is about enough for my forum/IRC buddies, and any extra that people share with me will get not only a huge hug, but stickers and possibly a song and dance. Cause I like doing those. <3

But I am WAY too poor this year to get like 200 buttons.

I was just pointing out that there's not really a point to the 'button EXCHANGE' if people just hand our their buttons without receiving a button back.

It's all up to the Button-Holders' choice.

And BA, if I cannot get a button from you; I would like to do the White-Girl Booty-Shake with you!

Oh, well that, some people don't mind handing out a few buttons to people who didn't get buttons for one reason or another (ran out, customs ate them, lost in a volcano) especially since purebuttons seemed to always send us more buttons than we ordered. The typical order of 50 actually had about 62 buttons.

I doubt it's that much of a difference. It's dependent on the size of the button and how many buttons can be made per press, etc, etc. If you ordered 1" buttons, they were usually dead on, but 1.5" always went over by about 10-15.

I'm down for any PAX Virgin stuff. I'd heard about it, but had yet to actually go... for various reasons.

However... BUTTONS FOR EVERYONE! I don't even care if you don't have one to trade. I don't know what I'd do with them all anyways... but I'll pull a The World Ends With You and doctor the popularity of mine by giving them to anyone who wants one LOL... well... at least until they run out.

Well let me just say I will hunt you down for one of your buttons... your avatar is awsome...

Also I don't think there are any PAX virgin activities planned yet, haha... was just kind of a neat idea floating around. Anyway besides getting together and having a big first-time PAX orgy, I can't really think of anything that would be distincly PAX virgin-like...

Haha, you'd better get a lot of buttons if you're going to be handing them out like halloween candy...

Well, considering how most PAX virgins are Seattle virgins, there could be some kind of miniature Magical Mystery Tour, mid-PAX, like a meet-up at or tour of one or two must-see locales, game stores, or restaurants of Seattle. Or maybe that's just me looking for non-alcohol based PAX weekend activities (turning 18 in the US sucks awfully, especially when you're English).

Hey wait, then doesn't that mean that you'll only be able to trade with 50 other buttoneers?? Well that's kind of a drag if you ask me.

Hey here's an idea: we make a buttoneer sign-up form and then we can get an estimate as to how many buttons we should order...

If I'm planning on handing them out to everyone participating who wants one and a few more... should I be ordering 500? I just don't want to have a bunch of the same button lying around and I'm not sure what a good amount would be.

But, I'm glad ya like it! I was going to get a back tattoo of it... but it would cost like 500 bucks. That's a lot of money to pay someone to hurt me.

You should order 500, but then that wouldn't follow your requirements. Conclusion: order less than 500. 200ish maybe?

I was thinking 200 normal buttons, with 50 of each of the two bonus buttons. Each person will only get to have one, unless you were to trade someone for theirs. That's cheating though. :P

    You'll get a preview...maybe.

For people agonizing over button amounts:
Too few = One of those awesome collectors items, especially if it is a cool one.
Too many = Bonus buttons for next year! (This is the route I am taking)

One way to handle it is to simply see how much you can afford, and then order in the summer when people start committing (actually buying buttons).

Hmm... okay, well thanks for the advice. I'll debate it. I don't really have to decide right now anyways. Cost isn't so much the factor as is having tons of leftovers... actually, that may not be a bad idea... could do something interesting with them, should I have extras.8-)

I am employed again (yay!) but this means my time was drastically reduced right when I was ready to get started (boo!). I have decided to go it alone because I don't have the time to sit down and learn the new tech that I wanted to initially, and it would be unfair to make the rest of the guys work on something they don't know or have a stake in.

I'll have a better ETA after this Sunday and I see how much I get done.

If you look in the OP you'll see my method of button collecting which was quite effective - a scarf I bought from the gift shop at The Grand Hyatt. It was awesome as it was highly visible, easy to put on and take off, didn't get in the way most of the time, didn't have any knock off or come off. This yeah I feel it might not be enough as with 174 buttons it weight in at 3lb. This year might actually break my neck with the amount of buttons we're looking at. But I'm probably gonna go with the button scarf again.

If I see any other bastard with a button scarf I'm gonna charge them for copyright bitches. Unoriginal mofos.

Anything you want. We had a couple last year with elf hats. There's Cuzza's infamous scarf in the OP. Lots of people used their backpacks/messanger bags. I'm making a jacket this year, as I'm hoping to not be lugging a backpack around too much.
