wireless adapter for vista 64

My coworker just bought a new home computer and has a wireless g network that is upstairs from his PC (maybe 20 feet away through the floor). his old adapter apparantly doesn't support 64 bit vista, does anyone know of an adapter that will pick up good signal and supports 64 bit vista? hes looking at aroung 40-50 bucks. PCI or USB is fine.

reading through reviews gave me reports of "works with vista 64" and the next one is "doesn't work with vista 64"

    Cons: does not work with xp x64 or vista x64. Card will become un-responsive with extended use ( leaving on all night for updates / downloads )

    Other Thoughts: It is a good card with good range and good speed. I would not recommend for desktop use. Make sure you do your research if you plan to use vista with ANY wireless network card.

    - No failed connection or any errors
    - Useful adapter cable/ docking station
    - Works fine with our Verizon Fios Router

    Cons: - Didn't found anything yet.

    Other Thoughts: I installed the CD driver on my Vista 64bit and it worked
    fine, Vista even updated my driver.
    When I ordered it I thought I can't use it because of
    the complains about a no x64 drivers.
    And its true there is no driver but the CD driver
    was fine for me. I use Vista 64bit Home Premium.

    What adapter was it? I grabbed a cheapo Netgear G adapter and even though the CD didn't have the 64 bit drivers I was able to download them from the website with no problems.
