Desktop advice.

I am currently in the market for a new desktop that can handle hardcore gaming. i.e. the newer games coming out with intense graphics and animation.

I built my last computer, myself, but I feel I did not get much out of it due to my own ignorance on computing and the like.

So I am seeking advice here in hopes that someone with experience, or who does know, how to build a decent machine for gaming.

Within the 1200-1800 dollar range.
Tower only, no keyboard/speakers/monitor.
I will most likely look into buying this computer on the internet as my local computer stores really suck.

Thanks in advance.

You'll probably get better advice in The Once and Future Computer Thread. All the crazy gamer hardware types hang out in there.
