    I'm probably a shitty player, but man unlocking Gouken seems to be rather rage inducing. I've gotten to the point where I can get a perfect and three ultras pretty easy, but Seth is giving me trouble.

    I did eventually fight and defeat Gouken... but then I found out I needed to beat arcade with Akuma first... which was an infuriating revelation to say the least.

    Man I could never go back to concave buttons now. I tried playing Tekken Tag at a bowling alley that had Happs and a bat top and I felt like I was in another world or something. My playstation Namco stick and tons of play time on it totally destroyed any hope of me liking the American style buttons/sticks.

    I don't think you can do a cancel unless the special move actually hits. Unless I misunderstand you, you can't really catch someone off guard with a cancel move they can't do anything about :P

    So, what is the version to buy for this? Or is it ultimately up to the controller preferance? How does the stick on the 360 work for this? Or is d-pad more accurate? If people say dpad is the way to go, I'd lean toward ps3, but if stick works fine, 360 is the better controller.

    cant stand bat sticks... but I have the most time spent on the old SF2 arcade machine, hence preference. I'm sure that will change once my fingers adapt.

    I think my stick suffers from that washer problem on the previous page. It gets stuck every once in a while and I basically have to fidget with it to get it to recenter. Makes my Blanka jump into SRK's faster than I can curse.

    PS3 has a better controller but side by side comparisons showed that 360 version looks better. Xbox has 2x Anti-Aliasing whereas PS3 does not.

    They both do installs and will both be nice and fast - If you play Online a lot get 360 because 360 players are just better people in general.*

    I'm yet another shoto player, I <3 Ryu. I've tried all the chars now, and the only others ones I remotely like for playstyle are Zang and Rufus. I'm having trouble getting past 1400bps because I never get games against people with 500+bps. So whenever I win I gain like 30, and when I lose its over 100.

    I finally mastered the SRK, FADC, Ultra after practicing quite a while in training. However, I still cannot pull this off in a real match. It's going to take A LOT more practice to be able to do it in the heat of battle. I'm having trouble with my throw game too. I was much better at in 3S. I seem to whiff a lot of throws in this, and have a lot of trouble getting them to work against opponents on wakeup. I think my timing is off, but I don't know how exactly.

    I'd like to get some games in against anyone who is really good. I'm down for some long sessions.

    Yeah see, I have a SFII arcade machine with bat tops, so i've been thinking of buying a bat top for my fightstick. Dunno though.

    and to whoever was asking, the stick that comes with the SE fightstick seems just fine. very responsive.

    The games are the same, just your personal preference. I got it for my PS3 because I...
    A) hate it when Live runs out exactly when my friends all want to play
    B) Hate it when my xbox360 red rings or eats discs; I saw what my 360 did to CoD4 disc, that is NOT happening again
    D) Less people have Mics for Ps3... in a fighting game I think that is a good thing. Less potty mouth 12 year olds the better. Also, Mics on a 360 dont work (unless you got that wireless one I think) with the Fightstick.
    E) my Ps3 is rock solid compared to MY 360, online is free, my bluetooth headset works like a charm.


    I wish I got it for 360 so I wouldnt have to play against all the friggin Tekken 5 online players with bad ass custom arcade sticks and have nothing better to do but play fighting games all day long cause I suck. Seems all the Ken players are on 360. Ryus on the PS3 rofl.


    Edit: Yea very responsive... mine even jumps when I think it, no hands required. This rarely happens though.

    I beat a Sagat with Gouken last night and he had 1000bp.

    Gouken is probably Sagat's worst matchup considering his medium fireballs will hit whether he's jumping or standing if you time it right.

    He wasn't dash canceling mind you. I'd like to see it used effectively in order find a way to thwart it. My guess is that when he's in range, toss out some reversals ala Dudley's cross counter and start the whole fireball trapping process over again.

    I used to do online customer support. False inventory like that only make trouble.
    They don't have them, they couldn't even ship the ones that were ordered months in advance.

    edit: oh the standard one... hmmm, maybe.

    I beat a 1000+ sagat last night with my blanka. he musta been pissed or falling asleep. I kept baiting him into tiger knees and uppercuts which I countered with an ultra lightning ball, an ex lightning or just a grab'nbite. If I played more games like that I'd destroy shoto's but I am very very inconsistent.

    Read... most shotos. I ran into a Ryu that was fucking amazing last night. He did shit that looked effortless. No wonder he had over 2500 BP.

    Tried to get on to play you last night ToeFoe, but wife made us go out to dinner. I got one like right when you got off.


    Edit: B&N dont have the standard either... Amazon had the same thing when I ordered my stick back on Feb 13. It said In Stock. Then it changed my order to Shipping Soon with a ship date of Feb 25 and a delivery of march 10th. Back on the main page it said out of stock. Pretty sure they dont have any and were pulling a gamestop "oh its in our next shipment" deal.

    I still suck pretty bad at this. Me and the twin just got it yesterday and a couple of sticks so we are learning sticks and this game at the same time.

    I haven't ventured into ranked matches yet, only plaid some unranked against a guy who I think was swearing at me then removed me after I beat him 4-1 :/

    There was a patch for it today, any idea what this included? I'd like to play some on ps3 against some nice, non-abusive players but I don't know if there is a workign lobby system yet?

    If you're waiting on sticks/pads I highly recommend waiting it out instead of paying a ton of cash for one. Because of the excitement around SFIVs release we'll surely be seeing a ton of sticks hit the market in a month or 2. I can guarantee HORI will be issuing a restock to all the online retailers.

    I'm also up for some games all weekend. Mojo let's play again! If any of you want to play just look fir my name on the 360 friends list.

    What I do like about Xbox Live is how for every 10 matches against a horrible Ken player you come across someone really decent. I don't care who people use as long as they're decent. Last night I played an amazing Ryu player. He beat me in ranked then we squared off in player matches for about 20 games of random select goodness.

    Some (most) of you won't agree with this but I really think they should have gotten OC Remix to work on the soundtrack for this. The music in HDRemix is so much better than in IV. Just my opinion!

    that's what they say. I might try that out before buying a stick, it's cheaper. maybe I can fix that washer hanging up on the screw/springs. probably why I cant bust out my vert. thing is getting stuck in a down position.

    Yup! The one with the yellow center. Its such a friggin bitch putting in though. I thought I was going to break the damn thing.
