Award awesome threads?

I'll be the first to admit (Probably because it's my idea) that I thought of this because I think the threads I make are goddamn awesome. Still, does anyone think that having a monthly award (Recognition, not some kind of physical prize) for the best thread in G&T/SE++ etc. is a good idea?

It seems as if offering recognition for effort put into making threads would improve the average quality of those threads.

Ninja edit: Also I want to point out that making a joke along the lines of "This thread wouldn't win" is mega-balls.

Or it would mean that there are a ton of wanky threads made just to get an award.

Wanky? You mean, bad? Then they wouldn't get the award, would they?

There's already the thread rating tool, and people hardly ever use that outside of the AP forum.

What can we do to increase people's awareness of the rating tool for threads?
