So I kicked the WoW habit about 6 months ago, and haven't had any reason to use a headset recently. But I picked up L4D on sale at Circuit City the other day and get psyched up to talk trash to zombies. Unfortunately, I plug in my old headset, and its FUBAR'ed. So does anyone have a good recommendation on a headset that's good and inexpensive. Wireless or wired don't really care.
They were $100 at circuit city back in December, and I got my pair for $40 open box. I have nothing but good things to say about them. you can probably find them for cheaper somewhere online. They are so comfey; I once wore them for 6 straight hours without any discomfort.
The Fatal1ty headset is the only Jonathan Wendel endorsed hardware that is actually really good. Super comfortable, removable mic, and a decent pair of cans to boot.
Is the majority opinion for or against usb headsets? What are the pros/cons?
I've had quite a few headsets in my time and all but one were non-usb. The biggest problem I had with the non-usb ones was that the mic was never sensitive enough, so I would have to talk at a louder volume than normal. This tended to piss off other people in the house at night for obvious reasons. But with the usb headset even my whispers were picked up, so it was pretty coo.

My exp with usb headsets is that they have some strange behaviors depending on what software you are using. I can only speculate as to why.

...and when you are done with that; take a folding
chair to Creation and then suplex the Void.
