"And as we lie beneath the stars we realize how small they are. If they could love like you and me, imagine what the world could be."
I know this quote is in a Nickleback song, If Everyone Cared... but I heard this quote a while back before the song ever came out and I was wondering if anyone knew where or who said it before Nickleback made it super famous. I've been banging my head against the wall for a few years and searched everywhere and I just can't find it.
Looking up at the stars, I know quite well
That, for all they care, I can go to hell,
But on earth indifference is the least
We have to dread from man or beast.
How should we like it were stars to burn
With a passion for us we could not return?
If equal affection cannot be,
Let the more loving one be me.
I don't think this is it. I remember one of my friends in high school (2000-2004) having that quote up on his AIM away message a lot. I don't talk to him any more and he changed his AIM name so I can't ask him.
Thank you for that poem though! Its really pretty!
