So should there be many people camping out on Sunday morning? And are we sure that the big stores like Best Buy and Target are going to start SELLING the Wiis on Sunday? I know our small town Wal-Mart just got about 10, but they're holding them until the 6th. I was hoping to drive over to the nearest city (San Antonio) early in the afternoon and find one fairly easily.
Toys r us should have them on sunday, they are on Roto Hold, meaning no store can sell them untill then, and all stores will recieve at least one shipment to ensure they are in stock for the Roto breaking that day.

hahahaha that must be why the guy at Toys R Us got in trouble for telling me that they were getting a shipment in the next day.
Says JC Penny delivered mine to the apt complex office on 11/29, i realy need to check my mail more. I'm gonna go pick it up when they open in an hour or so.
One thing though is I won't be able to connect to the network since I have a hardwired router. So from what I hear I'll either be SOL until stupid Nintendo releases their usb adapter thingy. Or I need to get a wireless access point for my wired router, or a completely new wireless router. Any suggestions? I'd prefer to keep my wired router.

If you dont mind needing to use your computer as a link, you can just pink up the DS USB gadget, word is it works fine with the Wii.

you didnt hear it from me.
Any suggested time?
well, we dont generally get our shipments anytime from 11-1ish ususally, on top of that we really dont know whats in them till we open them essentially.
then again, the delivery times store to store will also probably vary greatly.
Edit: If you do get one, no need for thanks, just send one to me too

Yeah, yesterday I overheard the guy at one of the stores tell a customer "Maybe tomorrow.....try calling around 2:00."
Fun fact: yesterday, my Gamestop had 86 inquiries about Wii availability, but only 8 people asked about the PS3.
Fun fact: Yesterday I went to Best Buy to look for a Wii. I asked the electronics guy if they had any in stock and he said "No, but we do have one last PS3! Want to buy it?"
He pulled it out and I took a good hard look at it before I declined. I left the store and continued my search for the Wii.
Just got off the phone with a local EB. Was told they are supposed to be receiving a shipment today between 11am - 1pm EST (20 minutes from now). This is the most promising and specific news I've heard all week.

"Receiving a shipment" could simply be referring to the daily shipment they get each day that may or may not contain Wiis. However, if I had one nearby, I would at least check it out on my lunch.

I'm not familiar with this item. So it's like a USB cable type thing?
Its a dongle that plugs into a USB drive on your computer and lets nintendo products share your computer's internet connection, basically.
Just in case, I'll mention that it's Windows XP only, at least according to Nintendo's website.
Also, the USB LAN adapter for Wii is likely to be about as expensive as a cheap 802.11b router, especially if you go used. And 802.11b router is likely to have many more uses than said adapter as well. As it stands, it looks like Nintendo's USB wireless adapter runs about $40, which is about the price of a 802.11g router, if you aren't picky.
Is there some particular reason you're attached to your wired router? I mean, you could even buy a cheap used 802.11b router and just wire it into your existing router if you felt the burning need...such as if your wired router is particularly awesome or something.
No real reason to keep my wired router. I guess it's just apathy since it works well already and my 2 desktops and 360 are all wired to it and are located in the same area. Can pcs be plugged in with a wire into the back of a wireless router? Or would I need wireless cards? I want to run the Wii out of the bedroom I think so That's where I'm thinking I'd need a wireless adapter type thing or access point. Or a new router completely.

Most (if not all) wireless routers have 4 ports on the back to wire in extra things (I have my network printer and PS2 attached to mine this way, with 4 computers wirelessly on it)
EBGames: He paused, then said "Yes, we are getting them in. However, we also have people in line already. It's really not worth coming in."
Hey, at least he told you. Some dickheads would just let you come down and find out for yourself.
Some bigger dickheads would tell everyone that so they can get one for themselves
This reminds me of my exploits in trying to find a Wii last week, before I hit paydirt with the Best Buy thing.
My sister and I were cruising around the mall, and we decided to stop in on the Gamestop situated in one of the smaller plazas surrounding the mall. It was a longshot, but we figured we'd drop in and see if they had anything Wii-related. They had a handful of Wii boxes situated in a display in the window, so we went in, and picked up one of the boxes to see if they were empty. They were.
So, we turn around to take a look around the store, and we see three more Wii boxes up on top of the cabinets. We walk up to the counter just in time to catch the tail end of a conversation about the Wii launch, in which Employee number 1 declares to a customer in an incredibly pompous tone, "Yeah, I got a Wii at launch - because I work here."
We get to the front of the line and my sister asks if they have any Wii for sale. Employee number 2 doesn't even make eye contact and says "Next week."
She points to the boxes on the cabinet and asks if those are more empty display boxes, or if they're actual Wii units.
He looks up, gives her a stern look.
"NEXT WEEK."
I have no doubt that those boxes contained Wii, and he was holding at least one of them for himself. Fucking dick.

nope sorry, the boxes you saw were display boxes. We are forced to put them out wether or not we have the stock or not.
if you look around you will see display boxes for every system, not just Wii or PS3.
Japanese Wii launch line pics. While the Wii has technically launched in Japan, based on previous launches I think most stores won't start selling them until 8 or so. It'll be several more hours before we see lots of pictures of happy people buying their Wiis.

They had display boxes for all three major systems in the window, next to the door., and on the side of the counter nearest the door The three boxes in question were stacked in non-display fashion on top of the cabinets behind the counter.
That in itself isn't what's interesting. It was the angry, defensive attitude the employee copped when we asked about them that got me.

Yep, every store has them like that (and like you said, there is 3 of them), its in our marketing kit, in the windows, and behind the counter on the cabinents.
i cant speak for his attitude, i always try to be polite, but honest to god, you can only take so many "HAVE ANY WII/PS3?" questions with the same exact answer every time before you become a bit... shall we say, accustomed to spitting out the same retoric every time someone asks which yes could come off as angry or defensive.
and yes, i got my Wii and sold it at launch for four hundred and seventy five u.s. dollars, because i work there.

Some bitch in line infront of me the about a week after the launch was like "We weren't gonna get a Wii but now since they're so popular we are gonna get one. However we are definitely going to save it for christmas."

More rumors of course, but I read somewhere that walmart wont actually be selling theirs till 8am.
Like I said, nothing more then a rumor i read on the internets, but when it comes down to it, most information on this topic is internet rumor.
