I am super pissed that I actually bought into the whole "Wiis will be easy to get for reals!" bullshit that was flying around here before launch.
Well, the actual supply is a bit lower than expected, but the demand is way higher than expected. The Wii is already about 25-30% of the way to matching the total sales of the Gamecube here in Australia.
That said, I walked into my local Hi-Fi store here, and picked up a Wii at 7PM on launch day. They had plenty, and still have units in stock.

I just don't know when to camp all it takes is to miss it by a few hours and you are fucked.
I would call the store early and keep checking. I was planning on midnight last weekend, called at 5pm just to check and found out there were already 4 people in line so I headed over there.
Those of you waiting for 12/22 to camp TRU for a Wii should call or go straight to your local TRU now! Everything was in the back so ask the cashier even if the sold out signs are still up.
I just got back while going out to pick up Viva Pinata from BB and decided to stop by and scope out the TRU situation for tomorrow. They were selling them right when I got there. The guy wouldn't say how many he had, only that they would sell out by the end of the day! They are not holding shipments for tomorrow. Go now!
You will be unable to walk in and get a Wii before March.
Everyone and their brother will have Xmas money to blow on them for the next 2 months.
Highly doubt this as the 360 was easy to come by right after Christmas. I expect around the first two weeks of January, for Wii's to be more readily available.
I don't think the 360 was in as high demand as the Wii is.
In the Chicago suburbs I wasn't able to track a 360 down until around March. Every once in a while I would see a bundle at CostCo, but never when I had the monies.

The difference between the 360 and the Wii is that no stores held shipments of 360s, they just sold them when they got them so people couldnt really camp out....there was definitely a demand for the 360
Back on Topic: Apparently some TRUs are selling the Wiis they got in already...people from the somethingawful forums are reporting they picked on up a few hours ago
I tried to call the one closest to me (near Washington Square Mall) but they wouldn't even let me talk to the electronics people. Gah! :x And it's too far away to drive there if they aren't selling them yet.
Oh well, I'll just play some more Portrait of Ruin instead
Does anyone have any Canadian info? I'm sick of getting all excited about reports of shipments just for them to only apply to America, and then calling stores, waiting 45 minutes for their lines to become free, only to be told they have no idea when any are coming in.

Man, they will all be gone before I get to TRU.
Damn you internets. Spreading information like that.

Other than the notification e-mail I received from ConsoleWatch this morning that said the Wii was in stock somewhere among the sites they track (that my only meeting this week which ran an hour longer than scheduled caused me to miss ) I haven't heard anything. Since December 6th Future Shop's website claimed a shipment would be arriving sometime this week, but I have no idea if they actually got any.
But as I just posted in the PS3 thread, there were over 30 60gb PS3s sitting at Best Buy this afternoon...
This perplexes me.
What that no one really wanted a Ps3 and it was all just hype and ebayers they drove up demand?
That's not the entire story here. The media pretty much told everyone that it is impossible to find one, so a lot of people just stopped looking. Not saying that the sticker shock or the huge press the Wii is getting didn't do anything, but the fact that people have given up can't be ignored.
Based on my experience last week, if you know of anywhere that will have a Wii at their store opening tomorrow, then you had better line up at that store RIGHT THIS FUCKING SECOND! PREPARE FOR A TRUE CAMPOUT AND GO GO GO!
Add another to the "my TRU put their's out today" column:
So, my brother is in town and he wanted to hit TRU to check for some Star Wars figures. I decide to see if they have any extra Wiimotes ... I don't need any, but was curious. I check the tag holder, and they are out. There is another tag holder next to it, which I figure is nunchukas or VC controllers. I look. Hmmm, Wii, 249.99. One tag left. I immediately grab the tag, flag down a nearby employee and verify that they do have them in stock and this isn't some sick joke. He says "Yes ... oh, and it looks like you have the last one. We also have these in stock." (points to PS3s) "Ok, uh, thanks," I say.
(They had at least 20 slips for the 60 GB PS3)
So, looks like my parents (who couldn't get enough of it over Thanksgiving) will be getting a but of a surprise.
They sold them at my local TRU today. Since none of the TRU's I've called had a clue about the press release on their own website, I called the 800 number. After hearing the same 1 minute recording about 20 times, someone finally picked up and even they didn't know ANYTHING about the press release.
This sucks. I was actually going to camp. Thank goodness I called.
Damn you internets. Spreading information like that.
I'll check the Toys r Us in madison, if there are any I'll get one for ya.
Nothing in madison when I finally got there.
Thanks for checking, dude.
There were none at my TRU either. This lady I talked to there said people literally followed the DHL delivery truck to the building, came in and bought all the Wiis.
I'm throwing in the towel. I'll try for the Wii again once the new year starts, but now it's really almost pointless.
Oh, Wii. How I long to rub my cheek on your shiny white shell.
Yeah, this is pretty much where I'm at now as well. I'll just wait it out. Though it's going to be hard looking at Twilight Princess sitting on my shelf mocking me each day.

Steam Support is the worst. Seriously, the worst
When do "Shipments" actually hit? I assme it's Store opening for most places, but what about places like Wal- Mart that are 24hrs?

ho ho ho
Stop it! You're going to make me jump in the car and rush down there and there's not going to be any! And then I'll cry! Again!

Nothing in madison when I finally got there.
I have given up on getting a Wii until Mid-January.
It's okay, though, because Nintendo systems are STILL stealing my money every week. With their Sonic rushes and Final Fantasies and Trauma Centers.
Curse you, NintenDOOOOOOO!
Oh shit I'm hitting up fry's tomorrow!
Thanks for the tip!
Also, have fun with your DS -- there's lots of DS love for you to catch up on! Get the Castlevanias.

I think a lot of places are now having them in all the time now.
Or maybe I go lucky.
Still no wii, though.
