Okay, so I can see quite plainly that a good number of you are giving up on getting a Wii until after the holidays... but no such luck for me. I am optimistically on the verge of a nevrous breakdown. I had two opportunities to get a Wii which were squandered due to "family obligations." I need one.
I am from Southern California, but stranded [amongst family] in the Bay Area (Danville to be precise) so I am out of my element. I desperately need tips (or even just one good tip) on getting a Wii up here. This is the horrible part... I need it before Christmas. (I am putting my own present under the tree, most likely after I've played it) If you have tips for after Christmas but before the 29th, I will still greatly appreciate them. I know everyone is in the same boat as me, but I have to try.

You're totally fucked. Unless you can be at every major retailer in your area before they open tomorrow or Saturday, I cannot envision you obtaining a Wii.

Try the Best Buy in Pleasant Hill, while I did camp there to get mine, they usually get big shipments.

eBay was like gamefaqs. Yeah, it's probably cheating, but at least I don't have to fucking worry about it anymore and can get on with my gaming.

The amount of people still looking for Wiis and DS today (I spent all day finishing up my Christmas Shopping, so many many malls!) was only slightly more than the number of 20 and 60GB PS3 I saw. Target had a whole bunch in the display case, and Best Buy had a couple dozen on the table by the register. At no less than three different stores I went to they were out of the Wii (expected), wiimotes (also expected) but plenty of classic controllers and nunchucks. They were also out of all DS Lites and surprisingly, DS phatties and GBA SP's!

So it is safe to say Nintendo will have sold through all Wiis shipped in 2006?

I didn't realize DS Lites would be sold out either. My DS Lite microphone has been acting up recently. I would take it to Nintendo, but I have a warranty from Gamestop, so I wanted to change it there. Didn't realize that they were sold out. Guess I'll go after Christmas. Luckily, I can still play games that do not really require the microphone.

So apparently a Best Buy near me in Southern California has received a lot of Wii accessories. I saw a few classic controllers but 2 carts almost full of remotes and nunchucks. I'm heading there tomorrow to pick up my 4th remote so that my family can play 4-player Wii Tennis on Christmas.
edit-
It's the Chatsworth/Porter Ranch Best Buy.

Thanks for the tip, doesn't look like that's going to pan out though. I spent all day looking around, asking around... I guess it really is futile.
Anyways, I am at least happy to say that while this is tough for us... it's great news for Nintendo. Unlike Sony, Nintendo is pumping their systems out and we just can't get enough of them! With any luck Nintendo will be market leader by this time next year!
Wii will prevail!

McNealy said investors and game makers tempered their forecasts for the PS3s since initial numbers fell short. He added that the PS3 will likely remain scarce through the June quarter.
"They have to launch in Europe, and they're stretched," said McNealy.
Wii shortages could ease in the March quarter, he said.

There's probably nothing to it, but it's always a possibility.
I talked with someone in a store [Target] today. What he told me is that the last time they got a shipment, 150 people lined up for them and there were only 13. So now Nintendo isn't saying when the shipments are coming... Don't know about the validity of this claim... or if it's come up here before.
EDIT: Still. everyone I've talked to has said next shipment is probably not until after Chirstmas and most likely not until January.
My Gamestop had drawers stuffed full of chucks and wiimotes and a bunch of classics as well. Other stores in my area (Bowling Green, OH) had a bunch of them as well.
Just a heads up; I was at the Oakville BB yesterday and they had around 15 or so nunchucks, no wiimotes or consoles though.

Fuck all! My mom was so close to getting a Wii, her niece's boyfriend's mother works at Target. She promised she'd get us one if there was one left, they had 7 and sold the last one last night.

CURSE YOU, ELUSIVE WII.
I'm hoping there's an elephant piss torrent of them before new years.
So thanks to Christmas I have $425 dollars in best buy gift cards.
When is the next Best Buy shipment, and is it basically a requirement for me to camp out?
Any Canadians know if stores will be getting Wiis in on Boxing Day?
I've heard Wal-Mart. I've also heard $199.
I am reluctant to believe anything.

My mother's friend, whose son works at Gamestop, keeps saying that the prices should go down to $199 after Christmas.
I dunno the validity of that, either.

After I dry my hair and put my face on, gonna drive around and see if there are any lines at Walmart/Target/EB (all right next to eachother). Boxing Day rumors are making me curious, and a couple people have claimed their Target will get shipments the 26th or 27th.
Maybe some impromptu camping? For the first time? Hmmm.

Steam Support is the worst. Seriously, the worst
No wiimotes or Wiis though.
Grabbed a nun-chuck for myself so I can finally do 2 player boxing.
They're estimating March for Wii's.

They're estimating March for PS3s. They just kinda said "Oh the Wii is selling out too" like once or twice in that article.
Also, analysts are retarded.

I've seen a good many on the shelves, there, too. Well, before the last week of Xmas, anyway.
