My mother's friend, whose son works at Gamestop, keeps saying that the prices should go down to $199 after Christmas.
I dunno the validity of that, either.
Hehe... yeah... I'll believe that one when I see it. Nintendo can't make Wii's fast enough to keep them in stores. And they're at a lower price point than the other consoles. And they make a good profit on each one sold. The only reason to drop the price now would be an illogical dislike of money.

Next time I find out there is a shipment... if it is before the 16th (when classes start again) I am camping the fuck out. I will be there the SECOND I hear a shipment is coming. For reals.
Well i'm in a bit of a situation. My super special surprise Christmas gift was a Wii gift card from Wal-Mart. Which is basically a method of exploiting ignorant customers (See: My Parents) by tricking them into purchasing a gift card which cost as much as the console but does not gurantee in anyway that you will be able to purcahse the console within the next year or so. The good news is that there is an assload of wal-marts, the bad news is that all of their shipments are sporadic and I may have to shove this card down a store clerks throat to receive a decent answer as to when shipments will be in.
So um, does anyone have any details on Wal-mart? I'm in Northeast Ohio btw.
I talked with someone in a store [Target] today. What he told me is that the last time they got a shipment, 150 people lined up for them and there were only 13. So now Nintendo isn't saying when the shipments are coming... Don't know about the validity of this claim... or if it's come up here before.
I'm going to call BS. I'm working at an EB, and we've been getting sporiadic e-mail updates as to when we can expect Wii's and PS3's. However, we have been told the following:
1. If somebody asks, we don't have any idea when Wii's or PS3's are coming in. Keep calling/checking back.
2. If we get them in and somebody calls, the most we can hold one for is an hour.
We (apparently) do this because we don't want expectant customers showing up and storming out of the store angry because they were told systems were available. I'd imagine this is the general consensus amongst retailers right now, hence the "we have no idea when they're coming" line.

Thats the truth. Saying "we don't know when they'll be here" is much better than saying "I think we'll have some on Wednesday." If you do that you'll have 50 more people in on Wednesday than you have Wii's, all yelling because you "promised them they could buy a Wii today!"
I was browsing many of the Wii tracker sites, and I did find info off of this site http://wii.clambert.org/ Although, the site went down earlier, so I'm not too sure on the info, but it did say that target stores and walmart stores around me will have 5+ each on dec 31st, which is so little of an amount that I sort of believe it.
Well, after about 2 weeks of struggling in the Central Iowa area (primarily Ames/Des Moines), and calling all the electronics retailers everyday, I beseech you, G&T.
Glancing through the thread, anyone want to consolidate the tips for this week, or anyone in Iowa want to give a helpful hint?
That says Dec 31st for Best Buy. It says "10+" Wiis will be at each location. But I'd take that with a grain of salt.

Goddamn you Nintendo, you beautiful bastards. You've really done it. I took my Wii in with me for Christmas and had 50-somethings playing with 5 year olds, both kicking the crap out of the 20-somethings. It was a hit at every house I took it to.

Hey, at least you have a Wii. My family spent all day hearing about how awesome the Wii is, but no one in the family has actually seen one (except for me).

Very useful link. With that in mind, does anyone know Wal-Marts policy, since it's a 24 hour place. . .when the hell do the consoles go on the shelf? I don't want to stay in there from midnight on the 31st until new years but i'm sure I wouldn't be the first person to ring in the new year with the Wal-Martians.

Get sales papers. The last time Wal-Mart had a campout, the consoles were sold at 8am. They'll probably make you wait outside in the cold, but a 24 hour store with bathrooms is nice.
The sales papers, and normally the employees a day or so before, will have info on what they'll have and when.
This goes for anyone looking at camping out anywhere. Look up the retailers' ads online. Keep checking back until you see a Wii and minimum numbers.
That's what all the tracker sites are doing. :P

The 31st eh... shit. Where to camp out? A place that will probably get a bigger shipment but with more people likely to camp there, or a place with a smaller shipment but probably less people likely to camp there?

I hate wii hunting now. Missed both EB games in the area, was walking upto Circuit City only to see a guy walking away with one, but that was the last one.
The Chris Lamert Wii Locator seems to be kind of worthless. It seems to me as if it only gives you locations of Target stores, and only tells you how many they had on launch day.
I think all the big stores (best buy, target, wal-mart etc.) are going to hold them for sunday. But I could be wrong.
If Wal-Mart holds them, it'll be for a Wednesday sale, they like to act like a grocery store. :P
Can anyone confirm this? I know Target held their Wiis til Sunday 2 weeks before Christmas, but I haven't seen any bigger chains doing this.
More importantly, Walmart needs those Wiis out for sale tomorrow, yet the 3 people I talked to at local Walmarts all told me they had no idea when the next shipment was in. Anyone want to substantiate the Wednesday claim before I freeze my ass off?

I live in Orange County and the clsoest 5 Wal marts to me have no idea about Wiis and there's no sign of any wiis in the "advertised values". Do you think Sears might have any?

So I walk into Circuit City, getting some Zune accessories and such and happen to wander over to the Wii section, knowing they probably don't have any.
So I get over there and low and behold, there are three Wii's sitting there.
Goddamnit, only PS3's on Sunday for Best Buy? I have work super-early this Sunday, so I was going to try the one in town that morning.
I'll probably just have to keep checking all the stores around here each day 'til the end of the week and hope for the best. The official line everywhere has been "We don't know when we'll get our next shipment", so there's no point in speculating unless I get something concrete about chains in New Jersey.
I'm actually crossing my fingers that Costco gets them soon, as I got a great deal on a GameCube there when it first came out.
I've been checking wal-mart twice a day for the past few days except christmas.
I walk in, navigate through the dozen faggots in the videogame aisle to where a wii would be and I see about 2 dozen micros there. To the right of that tiny space is about 20 feet of 360s then another small space for PS3s.
Also, they have every wii game worth noting except Zelda.
They should stop making Nintendo Dogs so their factories can make more wiis and Zelda.

Hell, they could make it go up to 275 and it'd still sell off the shelves.

This site doesn't work for me, either that or no stores by my house will get shipments ever.
So yes, EB/Gamestop should be getting them in today. I'm sure the other stores will wait til Sunday.
Keep searching, friends! I wish the best.
Nintendo has to get its shit together and start shipping more wiis.
They don't want to let me get one because "It's so Juvenile".
And "You already have enough videogames."

$250 - Wii
$50 - Zelda:TP
$24 - Tax
$324 Retail
So I basically spent a $100 premium to avoid calling stores every day, standing in line overnight, or not having a Wii for three months.
Worth it? Hell yes.
Just make sure you pay attention to the shipping cost. A lot of people are screwing buyers with higher charges there.
:x
God damn it.

Bestbuy in the Meyerland shopping area, the one on Beechnut, just got a huge Wii shipment.
Tons of boxes of them. Just a couple of hours ago.

Wal-Mart
Go to the store locator and punch in your zip, find your closest store. Then look at advertised deals for that store.
If your store ad says Wii, then call em up and ask to know how many they have. (My closest store has no Wii in the ad.)
If not, search other stores. MANY stores put their ads online. Check em, check numbers, then call. :P
Good luck.
