Graargh for some reason i SUCK at the Warden quest where you have go in solo and help holdn the line against brigands, and if your buddy dies, youre all fucked.
I suck at protecting stupid NPCs.
Have you tried using the Fist line of gambits to draw aggro? That and chucking javelins at the oncoming orcses is the way I beat it. You have to admit, it's a pretty neat class quest
Oh its neat as hell, but I just suck at drawing aggro off of multiple enemies.
Do we know how far you can run forward as long as youre between the rock and tree? Cuz then I could just draw aggro before my dude ever gets near em.
You can pull one, and let your hombre offtank the other while you finish yours off. I only dared taking a few steps forward, so i dunno how big the actual area is.

Not very. I actually failed the quest by running forward and attacking one that was attacking us from range. It's better to just run back to the starting location and draw them to you. Throw up your In-Combat Morale regen skill, draw two of them on to you (leaving one for Holdin) and hope you get lucky. It's not too bad so long as they're blue, but since the game levels them randomly sometimes you'll get stuck with 3 whites. It probably took me five times before I got lucky and didn't get a single white con mob and didn't run out of the area when they started attacking us from range.

Man, trying to protect NPC's as a Hunter seems damn near impossible, as I mentioned in chat last night. That retard in the Goblin camp at the base of Weathertop, he can stay captured.
yeah, the third ranger in the human prologue quest was annoying to escort. Worse than the old lady, cause at least she didn't charge into rooms full of spiders at half health all the time. Sometimes NPCs moving too slow is better than too fast.
failed it about 4 times, so i levelled up a few levels and came back better equipped to protect that guy from harm.
Heh, "Uhh... Wait here for a few days!" *Cue training montage, showing Dojango slaying hordes of boars and then haggling with a shopkeeper* "I have to returned to, to uhh... Jim?! Noooo!"

One thing that's gotten me annoyed today is that whenever there's an NPC that you have to protect as part of a quest, they've always been programmed with the goddamn Leeroy Jenkins AI script. It's like "LOL I LEEV U 2 FITE 4 GOBBOS WHIEL I AGRO 4 MORE LULZ"
I'm standing there trying to kill the bastards as quick as I can, all while watching the NPC's health bar evaporate to the group that he just ran off and aggro'd as soon as I pulled the previous group off of him.

That quest is fucking hard.
Even if you're over-leveled for it, the guy's HP is so low that all you need is one goblin about 40 feet away to sneeze and he'll fall over dead. And then he just charges head-on into camps full of angry goblins.
Escort quests as a whole really suck in this game.

I just finished (sort of) Ost Guruth. I've got quests leading me to Agamaur, but that's a bit too high for me right now. I'm 25, almost 26. I don't know where to go. I already did the quests out of Trestlebridge.
One thing I remember from a long time ago is that there was a quest hub up to the north of Trestlebridge. Just a little group of people standing on a ruin or something. I ran up there, though, and there aren't any quests available.
I'm kind of at a loss about where to go. I don't know the fruity-folk lands at all, so maybe there's something over that way? Or is there a way to get that North Downs quest hub?
Mincham's camp just south of the Fields of Fornost should have a couple of quests for you. Amarion the ranger sits atop Amon Raith a little to the east; he should have given you a quest to collect some boar meat. After that, he should ask you to scout on some goblins, then maybe one more quest, and then the other people hanging out on Amon Raith with him should have some quests for you as well.
If you follow the road east across the Kingsfell, you'll find the hidden ranger outpost of Esteldin, (your home for the next 7-10 levels or so; get comfy!) with the dwarves of Othrikar to the north and the elves of Lin Giliath to the south, each ready and waiting to fill up your quest tracker as well.
Yeah, this is true. In CoH, NPC's you rescue are quite capable of taking care of themselves most of the time.
Yanno, except for when they get stuck, or lost, or refuse to follow you, or refuse to walk towards the goal, or get stuck, or have pathing issues, or clipping issues, or get lost....

I didn't really find the quest that hard to be honest, I was level 15, which is the minimum level I think. But my gear was all self crafted and was way better than the average quest reward at that time. It took me three times, the first time my buddy died on the second wave. The 2nd try I got to the final wave and I accidentally left the area. But got it on the third try.

You'll have to excuse me if I'm skeptical that your level 15 anything could solo 4-6 level 15-17 spawns at a time while maintaining all of the aggro so that the fuckwit with the deathwish and 249 HP doesn't get himself killed. Plus any random adds he picks up. With very little downtime in between each fight.
The only way that quest is easy is if someone cleared the camps ahead of time.

I was actually still talking about the Warden quest, not the weathertop guy. I read the first quote, about the warden quest, and your quote, and didn't read the middle one noting that you started talking about that captured dude who just HAS to find his sword.
I started that quest and he walked into a camp and pulled like 5 mobs and told him he was on his own and made a break for it.
So I've hit level 16 with my Dwarven Minstrel and just got to Bree. And now I am totally overwhelmed with quest abundance..
Besides catching up to the epic story, is there a specific quest hub I should run to now? I don't really want to do all these level 12-15 quest lines in Bree itself, and just kind of catch up to the area that's around my level.

I want to say the Lone Lands (Forsaken Inn) would be a good place. I believe that's around level 15-20. I just ended up doing all of the quests in Bree and then heading into the North Downs at 21, so I'm not positive on the levels in between.

Lone Lands isn't really as interesting as Bree and the area quickly outlevels you. Did you plough through the Old Forest yet? That will get you used to the craziness Lotro can throw at you.

Today I got a pirate hat from a 'secret admirer' in the mail and I killed a few bosses in Forochel. This instance seems to be a little more popular than Garth Agarwen, yet i still want to finish GA at least once. I mean, I did so many quests leading to the point where the NPCs are just going all "man, that Red Maiden is the source of our problems" and now I just want to put that classy lady to rest for reals.
*E: and I downloaded two .abc files: redemption song and House of the Rising song. i was looking for ska, but the more famous bands weren't on The Fat Lute.
But but but.. suboptimal quest experience! Nooooo!
How would it be suboptimal? I think ignoring a bunch of quests in the town that's the game's biggest trading hub, and one of its first major quest hubs would be what made the experience suboptimal.

I'm going out of town for a couple of days, so see y'alls on, like, Tuesday.
And you picked a great race, Inquisitor. Hobbits are wonderful. They go well with eggs in the morning and are a vital part of wholesome, nutritional breakfast. MMmmm... Crunchy!

I'm wondering about that secret admirer stuff as well. Not enough to look it up, though.

Tried to GA again today, but the guy from my kin who set it up had to leave when we were 10 minutes in, then someone else left the moment she finished her quest and then i was stuck with 2 hunters and a minstrel who liked to pull mobs. I'm going to try and get a run planned through my kin forum instead, hopefully I can sucker a lev60 into joining.

They aren't bad in City of Heroes!

So, anyway, I need a bit of advice.

I think I'll go and do the inn league fetch quests tomorrow. Does someone have that wiki guide at hand?
