Haven't had that one, but I do occasionally get the game failing to launch after I put in my password and hit "connect"
Do you run Vista? And does it always work the second time you run it? If so, it's a known issue, has been for quite a while, and probably won't get fixed anytime soon. You can circumvent it by always switching to windowed mode before quitting, as then the game will start in windowed mode next time you run it, which avoids whatever conflict causes the failure to launch.
I finished installing it. It's updated, and now i'm running into an issue. I tell it to start, I select a server and click connect. The screen flashes black, goes back out to windows, flashes again, and then it closes.

Also on Vista? If so, start the launcher back up again and then it works. Do not ask what arcane powers are in place here.

Yeah, I'm on Vista. And it does always work the second time. It doesnt happen all that often though.

Another way to get around it is to run the game in windowed mode. I often prefer it since people keep sending me IM's and alt-tabbing can get annoying.

Whenever I switch to windowed mode, and open up the full map, I almost invariably close the whole game by accident by clicking the wrong X.

See, I just use the M key.
Edit: Lesson here is. Don't be a clicker.
If you can't play an MMO without a mouse, you're doing it wrong.*

So file this under "That was a fucking horrible idea, Turbine, and you should be slapped": Since I was just freeping, I can't log in to creep for 2 hours. I'm sure they have their reasons, but that doesn't make it any less retarded.

hmm.. I never knew that was the case, but I think it's a good idea if you really think about it. But 2hrs might be a little too much; an hour might be better.
I am tempted to resub with this 29.99 for 3 months deal still going. Enjoyed what I played of my Warden when I got MoM, got up to around 20 on Landroval, but how active is the PA guild at this point?
I am your shepherd. I will guide you into Middle-Earth, and would dare not lead you astray.

What's that ringing? Ting-ting-a-linging in my head~? Oh, you're always there, making me whole. You're always waiting up for me. You're my first kiss, ever so pure, and ever so defiling, once lost, can never be the same. Fuck me. Violate me. Deny me.
What exactly is the point of "freeping?" I tried it when I hit level 10, couldn't find anyone else and ended up dying to a 60 burglar. Are their any bonuses? (Aside from the small number of destiny points per monster kill?)
Also, what exactly are destiny points for--granted, I saw the buy screen--but none of those temporary abilities seemed at all worth while. Am I missing something?

If you're on the monster side it's called creeping, cause creeps are monsters and freeps are Free Peoples of Middle-Earth. Never tried it, personally, but the idea is to generally hang around in groups so you don't get solo-stomped.
Destiny points are hugely useful for two abilities: 1) Rested XP and 2) Clearing Dread after you Revive yourself and there's no minstrel or captain around to take it off for you.

It's kind of hard... and boring to go solo on a creep. Some servers have a creep vent channel, ask in /ooc if there is one, join it and there will be people will be talking about where all the action is going on and whatnot.... and thats when you usually can get into a raid. Or just ask in /ooc if there is a raid open that you can join. Or, sometimes, freep kins go creeping together.
There are different points on the map that you can capture. Capturing all or most of the points gives your side some buff.
For freeps, I assume you see what you can purchase with destiny points and I too find it to be not worth it. But for creeps, you purchase all your traits and skills with destiny points.
I made my way back to bree hoping that Dabble would catch up to that point before you logged off, but I'll try and get home by that time to help you out again.
What's a good class/race to start off as? My download is nearly finished.
I've been playing for , uh, six weeks or so, and Hunter is a good starting class, but there is also a shit ton of hunters around. However, I love it as a new player, as its very solo friendly, and being able to teleport to various towns is fucking awesome.
Goddamn you all. You assholes made me go out and buy anouther mmorg :x
Side note, just wow on the quest writing. I find myself caring less about the rewards and more about reading the next piece.
At some point I will put out a guild request, but it will be after I decide what I am going to end up maining. I am trying a champ atm but sounds like they are pretty well represented. Burglars are sounding damn sexy though, hairy barefeets and all :winky:

I hunt monsters because I need weapons. I need weapons because I hunt monsters.
I find it hilarious how good the game looks, and how well it runs on my pc, compared to Warhammer.
Also, could someone explain to me what the little orb next to my attack bar is for?

The one that says, on mouseover, auto attack mode? That's the sword hits in between abilities. When you click that one you put your weapons away. I think.
Is there a way to export your UI settings from character to character? Really don't feel like setting everything on the minstrel up when I already had it the way I liked on my burg.
So I downloaded the game again last night and restarted my account.. wow I missed it. I haven't REALLY played a lot since the first few months it opened. I had a brief stint last year, but I missed my LRM.
Which brings me to my question, are LRM's in demand?? Has a lot changed for them role wise? It use to be we were crowd control/debuff/Mana battery + whatever the group was missing... DPS/Back up healer/Good looking old man with awesome sword & staff combo.
I played around a bit last night and it seemed like nothing really has changed. However, that was all solo.

Poor, poor March of the Ents. You will sit, dusty and unused.
For two and a half more levels.
Whaaaaat?
Edit: Ah fuck. I downloaded the EU client.
Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaang.

:P ...and that screwed up percent is "normal", don't pay attention that, watch the #/# instead.
If this actually runs on my pc I'm totally gonna subscribe.
It's like.. $12 Australian. Seems a bit too cheap to be everything..
yep
That's dirt cheap.

Very. A lot of people jumped on that deal.

As for races, well, dwarves rule, elves drool. Hobbits and men are OK.
