so the screen folds and slides up, but how does it become a tablet?

It's not a sliding motion, the screen is the computer, and attaches to the keyboard.

ah, so you separate it into two parts, flip the screen and reattach to the keyboard

that "keyboard" looks pretty fuckin' chunky to be just a keyboard
    Chunky?

With the keyboard, it's 1.4" thick. That's really not that bad. Only 2lbs, too.

Here's their site, where you can preorder it.

I actually swapped out the Youtube icon for Lala.com so I can stream my music.

I can shoot you the icons at some point, just lemme know when you need'em.

Also, the process to getting them to show up properly when you use prism is a bit of a pain as well. You have to make sure you have a copy of it in the .prism folder for each of the apps, and then do a bit of editting to a file to make sure it points to the right icon when it's in the taskbar.

Oh, and I'm using a different, better (in my opinion) wireless connection program called WICD.

    Hahaha, sorry.

Prism is an application made by Mozilla that uses the same rendering engine as Firefox, but strips away most of the interface options, like the address bar, back and forward buttons, etc. The Single Site Browser. One of the current downsides to Prism is that it doesn't easily support the same extensions that work within Firefox. Google Chrome makes the process of creating SSBs a little bit easier, but it's not available (or at least not an official version) on Linux yet, and doesn't have extensions either.

Here's a nice explanation of Prism and the philosophy of SSBs.

Prism stores some of this info on your computer. It's as simple as moving the icon into the proper folder, and then telling the Prism file that "this is what should show up in the system tray, instead of the default Prism icon"

It's a purely aesthetic thing, but it's not hard to do. I'll see if I can throw together a basic guide tonight.

It's pretty decent, although it restarts sometimes for no reason. My Ocean did that too, though. I really miss the keypad, but I'm really glad that I at least have a phone that isn't so fucking big.

Totally considering buying an iPhone once my contract runs out but at the same time I don't know if I want to pay the $100 a month for unlimited data transfer with AT&T.

Jesus, what, it's only $400 for the full thing? I clicked through to the preorders expecting a $700 piece of equipment. It looks totally rad but I keep running into this thing where I can't get over the fact that it's less than half an inch longer than my hand is wide.

The Touch Book uses an innovative ARM processor from Texas Instruments that delivers the power of a traditional desktop computer but uses a fraction of the energy.

    That. Right there. Bullshit.

The ARM processors are good for a dvd sized screen running a highly optimized custom OS 4 years in the making (the iphone). larger resolution + operating system? good luck with that.

I had to do a bit of tweaking for it to support my dual-monitor setup on my desktop, but beyond that it's been easy peasy to work with.

For some reason Ubuntu has a lot of kinks to iron out when it comes to multiple monitor setups. . .

EDIT: I was gonna make that suggestion, too, Jordyn, but that would have been mean. Meany.
