I bought one a little different that didn't have the side pouch, but it's no longer on sale.

Sleeves make no sense to me. You're putting the thing in a pouch that (usually) doesn't add a handle, provides almost no protection except against scratches, and is totally redundant if you have a backpack you're carrying it in. What's the point?

The case can totally get scratched within a bag. Which is the exact reason I bought one, after the lid got a bit scratched up. Have you seen the size of the Mini9? I don't need a handle, it's that small and light. That's like saying that a paperback book needs a handle for you to carry it around. The foam sleeve can make the difference between a crack, as it absorbs at least a portion of the impact when it's dropped.

Better safe than sorry, and it makes a nice impromptu insulator when the Mini starts to get a little warm on my lap.

I suppose so. They had us using them on the 19" monstrosities we took to the MRS Trade Show in Boston in January, which just seemed ridiculous.

Also, if you have a laptop, a bag with a built-in cushioned pouch is a must-have.

And seriously people selling laptops online need to get the concept of a standard scale unit into their heads and put a god damn cola can in these pictures.

I, too, fail to see this in a positive light.

This is why I'll never buy a Dell again.

well, yeah, is is technically a piece of shit

but all that stuff was free from dell due to their shitty design

there was even a class action lawsuit due to the fact that the thing would get so hot that parts of the casing would melt onto the motherboard

So I'm thinking I'd either get an Asus Eee (probably the 1010HA) or the Lenovo Ideapad S10

The Ideapad is $50 more than the eee, though, I'm trying to figure out what the difference between the two is, (if any)

Edit: actually it looks like the battery is better on the Eee anyway.
