Way to make Digsby Better

Mai-KeroMai-Kero Registered User regular
So, I'm using Digsby right now for all of my IM needs, and I'd like to see if anyone can convince me to switch to something less resource-intensive, or tell me how to fix Digsby so it doesn't suck for certain things.

Certain things being: Whenever I'm running a program or doing anything, really, and I get an IM, it freezes up for like five or six seconds. If I'm playing, say, WoW, and I get an IM, the game won't recognize my keyboard/mouse commands until the IM window is fully loaded. Is this a bug? A result of using one of the default skins?

I've heard good things about Miranda IM, but does it have access to everything that I'm using right now (AIM/MSN/Facebook/Myspace/Twitter/Email)?

Im using Digsby and i do like it. It used to have some typing delay but that's been fixed. I've not had this freezing bug though but then i generally don't run it in game.
Have you tried looking on the official forums?

I like Pidgin, personally. Don't know if it works with Facebook or Twitter, but there's 3rd party plugins that may work with it.

I have not used either of these, but they seem relevant.

I use digsby and haven't experienced any of the issues you've mentioned.

I would love the feature to make the main window pop up on certain sides of the screen on startup. It never saves where I put it, it just resets the position every time I restart my machine.

i had to stop using digsby because of the bloat. tried all sorts of things, but in the end i decided it just wasnt efficient enough.

so, back to pidgin, which ive used for years as gaim etc. there are plugins for all the networks youd ever need to communicate with. on windows 7, though, i can only stay connected to msn for a while before it crashes.

I've tried both pidgin and digsby, and I would have to say go with pidgin. It's much more lightweight and customizable.

The last time I downloaded it, maybe a few months ago, the installer was way different than it was when the program first came out and it prompted me to install all this fucking crap.

    Check it, yo.

I never had any of that. I think Yahoo toolbar which seems to be the standard but as for other ad-ware ive not seen any. Scans have come up negative.

yea the Digsby installer by default wants you to install a couple of things. You have to uncheck them, and it's not 100% obvious. They kind of hide the programs in with the "create desktop shortcut" checkboxes too.

Not cool on Digsby's part, and one of the reasons I stopped using it.
