What is a slavery apologist? Just somebody who says "sorry about the slavery"?
"It was a necessary evil!"
I can't find the exact quote but it has something to do with if we feel bad about slavery and attempt to atone for that we're gonna collapse as a country
its absolutely horrendous
So he was in the "We can't give every black person 40 acres and a mule, so we shouldn't do anything" camp and not the "maybe we should just stop fucking them over so they can have a shot" camp?
My chest was really itchy, and now it's bleeding. It's bleeding because I scratched it. I think if I ever shaved my chest I would end up tearing off my skin.
We didn't come this far because we're made of sugar candy. Once upon a time, we elbowed our way onto and across this continent by giving smallpox-infected blankets to Native Americans. That was biological warfare. And we used every other weapon we could get our hands on to grab this land from whomever.
And we grew prosperous. And yes, we greased the skids with the sweat of slaves. So it goes with most great nation-states, which--feeling guilty about their savage pasts--eventually civilize themselves out of business and wind up invaded and ultimately dominated by the lean, hungry up-and-coming who are not made of sugar candy.
seems to me he wasn't saying slavery was a good thing, but that it was a bad thing that happened a long time ago and we should stop dwelling on the past so much

He is saying that we shouldn't give stuff to people just because they were slaves because eventually they will rise up and overtake the country.

C'mon Raijin, we all watch BSG. We know what happens when you give your slaves free will.

I never really listened to talk radio. I WANTED TO ROCK as a little kid.
After we went our separate ways for college, my brother apparently started listening to him on a daily basis. We were working together at this state park, driving around, and he turns on the radio to Paul Harvey and just sits there and listens to this man talk. I hadn't seen him for months, so I tried to appreciate this Harvey dude.
Talk about smooth, seamless transitions from his show to commercials though. That was impressive.

Read and learn.
I'll just stay away from this thread then.
I should probably have done that in the first place as well.

Man doesn't have an upper lip.
He chewed it off to better his radio broadcasts.

Ew.

...and that man grew up to be...Saint Barnabus. And now you know...the rest of the story.
GOOD DAY!

We're doomed.
Listened to him every day for YEAARRRSS as a kid on the way to school, before I rode the bus.
