I am so bored that I am flipping through other people's aracade stick templates and concepts.
Tempted to make one of the SF2 sprites blown up so it looks super pixellated for that retroish look of Blanka biting some bitch right in the face. By bitch I mean chunli cause Cammy wasnt around until later... although if I went for world edition I could get Blanka eating a pink t-hawk.
Edit: I wouldnt put sand anywhere near electronics or PCB's in the fear of the blag snagging and breaking open. Use something else that is heavy.. like fucking weights. Or take a piece of metal, cut it and trim it and attach it to the bottom of the stick to make it heavier.
Oh and sorry guido, i think that was me. Umm, you're probably better off just having them play one character so you can start to recognize patterns. I think I was giving you trouble because I was switching characters every match so you could really never catch on to what I was doing.
So, the TE stick...it doesn't need to be tied down so it doesn't move mid match? It is heavy enough to just place down on a surface? I might have to look into one of them.
I just want my stick to not move when I play with it.
i have no issue with the weight; i've been usin' Hori fightsticks on the PS2 - which is pretty much the same exact thing. i had a buddy accidentally pickup and clear the whole tabletop during one tense match of KoF11 (a couple pints of Guinness + light carpet = glad it's a rental); but, other than that - just don't be so hard on it.
Randoms are much worse obviously since it becomes Sagat/Ken/Ryu/Akuma Fighter, but losing, even to friendly competition, can get old after a while especially when you don't feel like you're making any progress.
It sucks that you feel that way. For what it's worth, I hope you don't just up and quit. If you play long enough, it'll eventually just click with you.

Get your mind out of the gutter.
About 6.5lbs supposedly, a little heavier than an hrap and much heavier than the EX2/FS3. I haven't tried one myself yet, but I'd think it would be decent for table play.
You can also try to velcro down your EX2 to a wood block or something, if you want to table it.
Hey jubeh, in one of the other threads I saw you mention something about Houston, are you down here in Houston as well?
you could always put some small lead cubes for weight in the corners.
also...
You guys probably getting bored of me posting people's stick templates/art but I think I am for sure going to have to order up some clear buttons and rock some Blanka on my SE stick. This Chun-li is nice.
Too bad I am married or I'd have some bad ass Azasuke Wind art or some rule34 C. Viper or something. That would rock for taking over to a friends house. None R34 Blanka will work though.
Oh and sorry guido, i think that was me. Umm, you're probably better off just having them play one character so you can start to recognize patterns. I think I was giving you trouble because I was switching characters every match so you could really never catch on to what I was doing.
Honestly, at the end I was kinda just going through the motions. I lost my focus and was just throwing out things randomly.
And if it was one person it's not really a problem, but the two people I've played today for a significant amount of time I was 1-15 and 2-14 against. And then the other day I was playing someone else and was like 0-10. And honestly, the only reason I won at least one of those games was because I was Sagat and Sagat is a giant cheeseball---so I didn't even really "enjoy" that win.
It just seems on average anyone I'll play here is significantly better than I am--and my only RL friend who plays online is basically the same way.
Not really shocking, though---this tends to happen to me a lot in competitive video games because I'm not as fiercely competitive as some people.

My advice based on the games we played would be to stick with 1 character for now, your ryu seemed pretty good and use a mic so we can tell you what you're doing wrong :P
Sorry, guido, I've played many much street fights. I think you're just trying to do too much at once, do some combo challenges and don't assume players won't block.
Maybe give it a shot with snugglesworth some time?
went i got back in to HDR after a long street fighter break i don't think i won a single 'competitive' (read: ranked) match for about a week.
pretty sure i lost my first 20 matches out the gate, player or ranked
it's just one of those things it takes time to get used to
i had a friend i could never beat - one day i sat him down and we played for like 3 hours. after every match i asked him meticulous questions about why i lost. at least now i can compete with him.
Dude, let me tell you I havnt touched a fighting game since street fighter 2. I was TERRIBLE when I first grabbed the game, got my ass downright ripped up. Then I found someone who was just as bad as me on these forums and we went at it for hours back and forth. Part ways, play some ranked, unlock some character and in a few days fight again and see where we stand. I guess it's a competitive thing like you said, I dunnos. But I can feel myself getting better, especially when I get my ass beat by Ah_pook or whoever mains Honda on here.
I find myself not falling for the same stupid shit over and over, you just need a friend who will help you break your bad habits. Someone who knows the shit out of this game to tell you on the mic while you play "Hey, dont do that, my move beats it everytime, try this move instead".
Hope you stick with the game though, it is really fun once it clicks, took about a week for me but I feel myself going from terrible to average. Maybe starting to get above average but I aint gunna toot my own horn.
What problems are you having anyways that make you lose (controller problems, manual dexterity problems? strategy? priority problems?) and who do you mainly play as?
Hey jubeh, in one of the other threads I saw you mention something about Houston, are you down here in Houston as well?
Yeah, you play at PZ?
Nah I aint that good and I live too far away now, I used to work at the gamestop near PZ though the royal oaks one and at the highway 6 one. My buddy Kenny who is a bad ass tekken player started to go up there after a buncha PZ guys came into the store and challeneged him to tekken. Think he met up with them at someone's house and played Crow and got beat-up.
i have no issue with the weight; i've been usin' Hori fightsticks on the PS2 - which is pretty much the same exact thing. i had a buddy accidentally pickup and clear the whole tabletop during one tense match of KoF11 (a couple pints of Guinness + light carpet = glad it's a rental); but, other than that - just don't be so hard on it.
what motions are making it move?
I was just playing regularly with Guile. It isn't like I am pounding away. Holding down+back and then trying to go forward or up just makes the stick move slightly. If I use a stick, I want it to not move. Period. When I played at my friends house and put it on the leg part of his leather recliner/massage chair, it didn't move at all. It was nice.
There is no way I can play with it on my lap. I would need to like screw it to a heavy wooden board that I could put over my lap.
I would love to have part of an arcade cabinet and just put the hori stick in there and screw it down.

It's an hour drive for me, but the comp is worth it. All the best players chill there.

You could try sticking some rubber matting on the bottom of it. Like kind that people put under rugs on hardwood floors. That should make it not move when resting it on something like your legs or a coffee table.

Yea, I live out in cypress/katy area between 10 and 290. It's quite a drive but I work here in Stafford... almost bout time for that 1 hour and a half drive home. I am so average I would be ashamed to take my weak ass blanka game there. Trying to get my friend on some street fighter but he rolls with all those PZ tekken guys so if his ps3 is turned on it's dark resurrection online for him.
Did you go to any of the GS tournys Jubeh? I'm sure my old store hosted one since we were the biggest volume store other than the galleria.
GENERAL ALERT ABOUT PA Street Fighter 360 FRIEND LIST
Currently PASF4 has 88+ friends. I will continue to accept anyone up to the limit however if I get requests afterwords I will be deleting those who have been the most inactive from the list.
Man, I just player matched a guy for about 7 or 8 games. He was Ken the whole time and rocked my fucking face off. I'm not talking "oh, I fell for some shoryken" cheese; this dude was a fucking zoning master. I could not get close; and he reversed ALL of my ultras w/ his own ultra.
Can't get mad a Ken players who knows the shit back to front.
For a terrible player like myself who hasn't even dipped his toe in the online game, it feels damn good to be able to pull off combos consistently, a feat that I never seem to be able to manage in other fighters.

What problems are you having anyways that make you lose (controller problems, manual dexterity problems? strategy? priority problems?) and who do you mainly play as?
All of the above. I can't do most ultras (and even some regular moves) consistently, which is my main problem. EX's, too, seem to be an issue, as using L1/L2 along with the D-pad doesn't work well for me. I'm trying to learn ways of pressing two of the kick/punch buttons at the same time but can't get the timing quite down.
Everything else is an issue, but that is the central one, as not being able to use my moves consistently impairs any strategy I may come up with. I'm also not very good at putting together combos at all--unless it's a combo involving single button presses I have a difficult time executing them properly.
At first I mainly played as Abel, who wasn't working very well for me against, well, anybody---except for this one dude I played on PSN who I had some good matches with. I'm trying out using C. Viper as my main, and she tends to do better. I also like using Dan and Rufus, but neither have really clicked for me as of yet.
I don't doubt that I might be a bit better with Ryu, but man fuck him. When I was still playing randoms, I grew to hate both Ken and Ryu, and can't really enjoy myself playing as either.

I remapped my 3p 3k to the right shoulders because of this. I have mp mk on the left, it's fairly easy to hit them both at the same time for focus attacks. Are you good with charges at all? Blanka seems to be a pretty good character for starters.
Try messing around in training mode with input display turned on, it really helps with getting over bad habits that have you inputting moves wrong like hitting the button too early or late on some moves.

I dunno man, even with a 360 pad hitting an ex shoulden't really be a problem. I map my buttons so that they are vertically aligned and just slap my thumb on either 'column'.
Hah. I just beat that DarkSydePhil guy everyone was complaining about the other day. That felt pretty good.
Just goes to show that even when you are a whiney complainy evo-caliber player from srk, you are in no way exempt from getting your ass beat.
Good job on that.

Sev: Your gameplay is the most heavily yomi based around. Usually you look for characters that allow you to force guessing situations for big dmg. Even if the guess is mathematically nowhere near in your favor lol. You're happiest when you have either a 50/50, 33/33/33 or even a 75/25 situation to go crazy with. And you will take big risks to force those situations to come up.

That's what I did with mine. I had thought about ways to clamp it to my coffee table or something but figured I might as well try the $5 solution first. That no-slip mat worked way better than I expected; the EX2 is practically glued to my coffee table now.
