expressions like 'yaoi lolcows' probably not going to help convince people you are not a misogynist.
I learned Yaoi Lolcows can be either gender. I apoligize for the Gundam 00 comments, It would be more accurate that, rather than beign targeted at women, it's being targeted at "fandom" tards in general.

What surprises me more is Shimpy's hatred of Eva, given that it's aimed at classic mech connoisseurs who constantly site TVtropes. It basically takes every mech series trope and examines and reinterprets it.

He hates Shinji because he sees himself in him.
I hate EVA becuase I think Anno is a hack. I hate the whole damn studio for a reason.

Because they draw women and have protagonists that remind you of your own failings and fears.

Chirico wasn't perfect. But he had it in him to be awesome every now and again. and VOTOMS has a strong female protagonest in the form of Fyanna. and Fyanna didn't really even have fanservice!

Chirico was a good character, Fyanna was a good character, Shinji and the EVA girls were not

I've never seen a show with mechs in it where the whole premise of the show was "look! mechs!" except Megas XLR, which was a parody/homage/sitcom, and I've seen a lot of shows with mechs in them. Mechs aren't a genre, they're a weapon. Shows that exist solely to have mechs in them don't really exist, because they would suck horribly and be boring as fuck. Even sports-anime have shit going on besides tennis, because there are characters in them. Sometimes action-shows have mechs in them, or dramas, or comedies, or dramedies, or coming-of-age stories. There is no show that's just mechs for the sake of mechs. Even overly simplistic tripe like Mazinger has drama that moves the plot, rather than the mechs moving the plot. The same story could be told with some other weapon instead of mechs. Treating mechs as a genre is a fundamental failure to grasp even the simplest components of stories and story-telling.

Except, Mecha has it's own tropes, and if those things were replaced, it'd have the tropes of a completely different type of ANime, I fled from Fight Anime in favor of Mecha for a reason. it had themes and tropes I could click better with. Doesn't help FIght ANimes stopped being good after Hokuto no Ken and JoJo.

Instead of making a statement about shows I haven't watched, I'm going to instead ask you to support this statement. Explain the complexity of Chirico and Fyanna's backstories and character arcs in their respective series, and compare and contrast them to those of Shinji and Asuka.
