Ugh. 8 to 10 hours to complete? No thanks, I will pick it up in a few months.

    More accurate reports say 15-20.

I believe it all depends on your own personal pace. I mean, for me, personally, if someone is saying 8-10 hours, I can see myself taking closer to 15, simply because I like to take in the game, and appreciate all it has to offer. That, and I'm OCD about checking every last corner of every room.

I wouldn't fret too much about the length of the game, really. There's a great single- and multi-player campaign, a great side-game (mercenaries), as well as, likely, other side stuff to do (think assignment ada). Believe me, there is more than enough here to justify a $60 purchase for anybody who's a fan of RE, survival horror, action, or shooter games.

    Just sayin'.

Good to know that it's high on replayability.

Still have to pay my copy off this week sometime.

Also, GameStop is doing a midnight release where they invite you to come...zombified? I'm wondering if anyone is going to actually do this.

Awesome news about the midnight release. Store participation list added to OP!

In case you guys/gals didn't see it in the OP, I will be compiling gamertags/psn ID's leading up to the launch. Just pm me your gamertag/psn ID, and I'll begin throwing it together in the OP! (Note: as stated in OP, please do not just post it in the thread, as I may miss it. Just send me a pm.)

Ok, if I play a co-op game with a friend, where one of us is Chris and the other is Sheva. When whomever is Sheva starts a solo game later on as Chris, do they get to keep all the upgrades that they accumulated as Sheva, or does that person start from scratch?

I believe the host starts the game, and the friend then plays as Sheva in the host's game. However, I do not have the game, so that is purely conjecture.

Also, looks like Gamestop is doing a trade in bonus for RE5. Details are in OP.

You have to look out for spoilers already. A bunch of people have gotten the game already and it was all spoiled on NeoGAF. Some guy even did a live stream of the entire game.

Japan released on the 5th, I think. There was an article about them lining up for it already. I thought the series wasn't popular over there. Or am I just confusing it with Metroid?

EBGames over here breaks a lot of street dates, but I doubt they'd break it for something as big as RE5.

I didn't even know this was street-dated. I knew it wasn't coming out until the 13th, but sometimes games are or aren't street-dated. There was no big orange "DON'T SELL BY XXXX OR WE'LL HUNT YOUR ASS DOWN" sticker on the top like the big titles normally have.

Posted in the bigger RE5 thread, but I'll repost here - I grabbed an extra 360 and PS3 copy (left one PS3 copy for some soul behind) and don't really feel like messing with Ebay, but I'll keep them around for a day if anyone expresses interest in buying from me at cost + shipping. I'll ship Monday at whatever rate you're willing to pay for. If no one's interested, I'll just return them sometime tomorrow afternoon. I'm in no big hurry to return them, but a few days it won't matter anyway.

    Resident Evil 5 Launch Party!

To celebrate the release of Resident Evil 5 on Friday, March 13th, Capcom and our friends at GameStop are throwing a launch party! On the eve of the launch, Thursday the 12th, meet us at Union Square in San Francisco to usher in Resident Evil 5. The event kicks off at 8pm and ends at midnight when you will be able to pick up your game- in-between we’ll have plenty going on to keep you busy. For starters, there will be a whole tent dedicated to the game where tons of kiosks will be set up and players will get a chance to get their hands on the game before grabbing it at midnight. You’ll also have the chance to win prizes and giveaways, meet the development team including co-producers, Takeuchi-san and Kawata-san and hang out with the motion capture/voice actors that played Chris, Sheva and Josh. To top it all off there will be new game announcements, stage shows, and Resident Evil activities all through out the night.

In order to guarantee you get the game at midnight, please stop by the Powell Street GameStop before the party to get your game transaction processed. You will need to get your proof of purchase wrist band and receipt for the GameStop store in order to pick-up your game at the party.

Also make sure to get there early as there will be limited space and we want to make sure you all get to enjoy the party!

Just to re-cap the details: be at Union Square in San Francisco by 8:00pm. I highly recommend getting there EARLY. We’ll party until midnight, then you can get your copy of the game with proof of purchase at the Powell St. GameStop. See you there!

If they really announce a new game we haven't heard yet, I'll be personally impressed. Capcom has been in a serious roll lately. They're the only console company that hasn't been disappointing this gen.

'New game announcements' could be new announcements about games that we already know about, and not new games. They might announce a new game, but there is no way that they are announcing two or more.

Does anyone know if an event like this is planned in Aus?

Hey fellas, can anyone who has the full game confirm if this is true?
supposedly from a video on live a few weeks ago, there will be an alternate control scheme that is supposed to appease with Gears style players so moving and shooting willl be an option. Don't have a direct link as it was an insidee XBOX interview with somebody at capcom .

I've heard no such thing and i question its validity.

Yeah, I believe the "Gears" style control-scheme was the one that allows you to now strafe if you so choose, but that's it.

Personally, I'm ok with not being able to move and shoot, as it would greatly reduce your accuracy.

Game Focus: One of the staff here loves Code Veronica (Fale) and was wondering if we would see a XBLA or PSN release of this game.

Matt Dahlgren: Nothing is planned for the game regarding a remake on PSN/XBLA, but what I can say is if you are a fan of Code Veronica you should pay attention in the next couple of weeks there is some news you should be very pleased with. Tell him to pay attention on the 12th (March).
