    Enter the Mines of Rumoria.

Seems like as Windows Mobile 7 gets rolling, the more rumors point to a Zune franchise involvement somehow.

OK, I've discovered a rather....annoying problem with my new ZuneHD. For my old 120, I'd pull out the headphone jack and put it down, confident that it would be paused, no battery drain, no worries. However, with my HD, it'll sometimes not pause when I pull out the jack. Has anyone else had this problem?

Yeah, it's happened to me too. But, I mean, it's not the Zune HD only. I've had it happen to my Zune 8gb and ipod nano. It's annoying but I've become almost completely used to checking all my PMPs.

Let's put it this way: if you want a device for media, and media only, grab an HD. If you want to see how they shoehorn the Zune software onto a WM7 device, go ahead and wait.

I'm a little pessimistic for that integration, and I'm absolutely loving my HD and Droid combination. It's a little pricey, but fuckit, I had the money sitting around.

    edit:

Further thought, I'm not really sure how WM7 is going to turn out at all thanks to Microsoft splitting the OS into two versions with different hardware. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

Apparently, one version is pure media, think Zune Phone, and one version is more business oriented, heh, think Phone, with a smaller Zune media player, if that makes sense.

Frankly, that'd be a very good thing, if MS can get more actual pieces of hardware that'll run zune, suddenly, there's not just 2-3 models of a Zune player, it's anything that'll run the software, which will get more people into the Zune marketplace.

As long as they don't end up prioritizing the phones over the players.

The media focus of zune has been it's real strong suit

Is it silly to want a zune HD pretty much solely for Audio Surf + Zune Pass?

Between my GF and I we have 2 zune 30's and I have had Zune Pass forever, I feel like i'm due an upgrade and man do I like the idea of zune pass audio surf.

Anyone have the Zune HD car kit and want to comment a bit on how good the FM transmitter is as well as the overall product? I use direct input most of the time, but sometimes I'm in a car that lacks an input/tape deck.

I'm wondering if the Media version will be WinMo7 with a Zune-style UI overlay on the whole thing, where the other version will be WinMo7 without the UI overlay, but both will have Zune integration and media controls built into the base OS. That I could see happening, especially since third parties have already really done the UI overlays on WinMo6 and Android and a few other OS options.

I think that's likely, The media version will be more Zune/Xbox centric, while the Business one'll still have it, but it would be just an app or something.

In my perfect wonderful dream world, The Zune software on the phone'll be able to download songs over the cell network, so you could actually use the related artist and whatnot like it should be, just click and play.

Well my ZuneHD 32GB came in (with the correct inscription) early morning.

The thing is a LOT smaller and shinier than I expected. I'm kind of sad that my Zune 80 dock won't fit (different type of port).

    But my god the screen.

Wait my Zune HD sits on a dock that I used for my 30 as I type this, are you sure you can't just pop the black guide piece out that makes the dock work for the 80 and plug it in? Plug the speaker/headphone into the back of the dock. (this is assuming you mean the charging dock)

Trying it again, you are correct--it does fit (the mouth itself is much bigger, thanks to the Zune 80's bigger size).

Noo! Not glass cleaner! Glass cleaners usually have ammonia which eats away at the finished layers of the glass. Never use Windex and shit like that for any electronic screens. Instead, go into a lenscrafters and they have a light blue spray for normal seeing glasses. It works excellent for cutting through the oil that slowly builds up over time. But I don't use it all the time, instead I use water and a shirt or something.

Again, don't use paper towel or tissue as they are made from wood pulp and sometimes a loose splinter is there and can gently scratch the screen.

Glasses cleaner. As in the kind you wear on your face (I've been wearing glasses for more than 15 years).

Okay, so no paper towels. I tend to use higher-quality tissues/paper towels, but a cotton cloth or something would be better.

I'll have to try that out (though I'm a little awkward on the matter of asking fore free stuff). I might just bend over and buy a little "kit" with the bottle and cloth so I can use it to clean my glasses as well. I haven't tried recently, but five years ago, they never gave away stuff for free. >.>

My HDTV came with a big, bright-green sheet of microfiber cloth, that I rarely use. That'll also work, I suspect.

Zune is underging some maintenance dudes. Zune on the 360, zune marketplace and the zune website are subject to being unavailable due to MS "tweaking things."

Don't think this will be a software/firmware update or anything. Seems like it just genuinely is maintenance as the Xvid and Smart DJ and Facebook stuff is coming in "Spring."

I can't either. I think there's a server issue. It asks me to accept a new license agreement, but the agreement's blank except for some text that says "License Agreement" (or something to that effect) and if I click "I Accept" it throws an error.

Ditto. I understand that they need to do an update. But don't push out a client update that doesn't work because you're servers are down. My first reaction was that the update was broken, but I realize now the TOS are being pulled down from a web service. It would make more sense if it told you "sorry, we're busy" instead of a vague an non-related error.

Does any one have any details on what the update gives us? I suppose we won't know until the servers are back up.

pretty mad at their decision to have the Zune software only look at Libraries. I had one folder set aside where all my portable music goes. I mess with that folder, zune autosyncs it, everything is good. now I have to spend forever telling the software everything I don't want on it if I want to continue to use Libraries on my computer?

edit: nevermind, I am retarded. just made more libraries and put everything else there, zune only watches the default 4...
