Firefox 3.0.7 installation issue

NightslyrNightslyr Registered User regular
Anyone else having the following problem:

I've downloaded both the partial update and complete update from Firefox, yet it won't install. If I tell it to restart and install immediately, nothing happens (Firefox won't restart). If I shut it down and start it back up manually after the download nothing happens, either.

Is there a way to manually launch the update? By, say, finding some sort of patch executable in one of the Firefox hard drive folders or something?

Its probably far easier to just download and install the new version

    ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/3.0.7/win32/en-US/

Or you can try to manually update:

Glad its not just me! I've tried a clean install and everything but I can't get Firefox 3.0.7 to run. As soon as I click on the icon task manager shows that firefox.exe is hogging 99% of the cpu power. it continues to do this without starting firefox at all. I am having no similar problems with Google Chrome so maybe the answer is clear!?! Everything was working fine until Monday when the update tried to install. My wife was surfing at the time and she said the update got about 90% installed and the PC froze. Any suggestions?

Hmm...not sure. Installing from the full new version (the first link DigDug provided above) fixed the issue for me. Have you tried doing a complete system restore to a date when everything worked, then installing from the full version?
