Xbox Live and the games that deserve the points

So bestbuy.com had this deal that if you buy any xbox live product (or a console) you get 2 tickets to the Watchmen. So I did this and I now have 1590 points after getting one of the Skate 2 extra levels.

From here however I have no idea what to do. There are a ton more games on live than the last I went to buy/try. I have Lumines Live, Aegis Wing, Castle Crashers, Every Extended Extra, Geometry Wars, Ikaruga and Undertow.

Just to get it out of the way, I tried Braid and sadly I dont think its for me.

What games should I try out? I really have no idea whats crap and whats not.

If you have someone to play with in real life, get SFIIHDRemix. The online gets boring real fast and is pretty godawful at skill matching, but it's still the best damn fighter to play with a bud, now all prettied up and high def.

Edit: Also, if you don't already have the Orange Box and and don't really care about Half Life, you must get Portal. It's a standalone Arcade title now, and is easily worth it.

When looking for a new game, I download the trial for the most popular one in the market place, and if I don't like it, I delete it and go to the next one down. And I keep going until I find one I like.

Pac-Man:CE, N+, and Geometry Wars 2 are my 3 favorite Live games. You can't go wrong with any of them.

Geometry Wars 2 is so, so, so worth the money. It blows the original out of the water, has six wildly different play modes and is easily one of the best games I played in 2008. Also, since you like Lumines and E4, you need Rez HD.

EDIT: Other titles: Bionic Command Rearmed was excellent and feels like a steal at 800 points. If you like shmups, Omega Five is beautiful and has a very Forgotten Worlds kind of vibe. And I second RainbowDespair's recommendation of Pac-Man CE, it's amazing.

On a related note, Rainbow, I got so freaking close to topping your GW2 Deadline score last night, and then I choked right at the last second and slammed into a gate instead of triggering it. I'm only about 500k away, so I know I would have beaten it if I had just tripped the stupid gate. :x I've been trying to get at your score for months!

Lunker, if I have Geometry Wars Galaxies for the Wii, is GW2 still worth grabbing, since I have been thinking about it?

150 percent yes. I had Galaxies on DS, and GW2 feels like the much more proper sequel. It uses the Geoms concept, but the six different play modes in GW2 offer much more variety than the different planets in Galaxies, and it feels like a tighter, more focused experience overall. The different shapes of planets were kind of neat, but ultimately all of the planets felt like slight reskins of the Evolved mode.

The leaderboard chasing is my personal addiction, and because the next person above you always has their score sitting in the top-right corner—plus the mini-leaderboards right at the main menu—you have a lot more incentive to keep going back and topping your friends.

Thanks for the recs so far. I already have Rez on the PS2. I guess I do need to check out Geometry Wars 2 considering the 1st one is why I bought a 360.

Geo Wars 2 is awesome. I suck at it compared to the first game though.

Spend all those points in Rock Band 2!

Then rebuy it! Seeing it in 720p and widescreen with 5.1 surround sound, additional audio/visual filters (bloom! glare! sepia tones! reverb settings!) and the ability to use up to three other 360 controllers as trance vibrators is stunning. If you paid $50 for the original like I did, the $10 upgrade is worth it.

    Seriously, just try the demo.

    I'll second this.

Rez on XBLA blows the original out of the water.

I noticed you have Lumines Live. Do you have the Rockin' Holiday pack? If not, get it ASAP - it's easily the best out of the expansions for the game and it's only 400 points.

I also vote for Geometry Wars 2.

HDRemix is a great deal if you like Street Fighter. For 1/4 the price of SF4, you get a better fighting game with better online modes.

If you want a recommendation for a more obscure title, I recommend Prince of Persia Classic. I had never played the original, and for me it held up as a great platformer even after all this time. And, the new 3d graphics are great.
