Hey everybody. Sorry in advance for the silly question, but does Oblivion for the 360 support a 3rd person perspective? My partner has put over 200 hours (seriously) into Fallout 3, so I think this would be up her alley. She is not, however, big on the 1st person perspective.
I'm thinking of picking up Morrowind over Steam. Played the hell out of it on console, but would definitely like to mod it up a little on PC.
Any crucial/suggested mods for Morrowind I should consider? Like upping visuals and such, to make better than xbox was...
This site, and the sites that it links to, has a number of mods that should improve your Morrowind experience substantially. They're all pretty good, so have a look through the descriptions and just install what you think sounds interesting.
Galsiah's Character Development is a pretty good start, as is the Morrowind Visual Pack (I think, it's been a while).

I'm about 99.9% certain it does have 3rd person as an option... Just click the joystick. The 0.1% is only because I haven't played it in 6mo - 1yr.

Thanks a ton! It'll definitely be a lot easier to get back into if it looks a little less like ass

It supports a third-person perspective, but if it's anything like the PC version, it won't be very much fun to play that way. On the PC, I pretty much just used it for peeking around corners without popping out.

- The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (2017, colorized)
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5535 - Morrowind Graphics Extender (just plain awesome for the anti-aliasing alone, but there's a lot of stuff in here that can really improve the visual quality of the game)
http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=119915&id=6068 - Darknut's Greater Dwemer Ruins (awesome, awesome mod that turns the last three dungeons of the main quest from generic Dwemer Ruins into sprawling labyrinths full of tough enemies and traps, very much improves the rather lackluster ending to the main quest that the original game has)
http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=5730 - Building Up Uvirith's Grave (for Telvanni players, this mod gives you the option to make your Telvanni stronghold into an entirely new city, you also get guild services that set up shop in the town depending on your standing within the various guilds across Morrowind)
There's a bunch more mods that I would recommend but can't remember the name of at the moment. There are a lot of texture/mesh/model replacers that you should look into as well if you're into that sort of thing. Personally I think that Morrowind still looks great as long as you enable anti-aliasing in the Graphics Extender so it doesn't look all choppy (and use Better Bodies/Heads because the default NPC models suck), and you always run the risk of not quite making everything look the same thematically which can lead to some dissonance in certain areas (one run through of Morrowind that I did had gorgeous landscape and building textures, but in some areas there were very jarring changes from one texture to another). However, I consider the seven mods "required" for any Morrowind experience (six if you don't want to play a House Telvanni character, which is fine if you want to sell-out to the Imperial-loving Hlaalu or the witless Redoran brutes).

The Script Extender, Graphics Extender and Morrowind Enhanced are all external programs. You might have a problem getting them to run on the Steam version, but don't quote me on that.
Edit: Browsing around the Steam forums, it seems that the MGE does not work with the Steam version.

We can only hope for a patch I guess. The games themselves are great, but if I have it on PC it's all about the mods.

The first thing I do at the start of a new Oblivion game is make a run for Shivering Isles and take off the armor from the guys that get killed by the gatekeeper. Steel armor right off the bat!
And the most striking thing to me about Oblivion was how hard they tried to keep good items out of people's houses and such. Nobody has master alchemy gear lying around.

Not even the alchemists had very good alchemy gear lying around. I wish some of the stores had stronger weapons in them. If they were worried about balance, they could make them a bitch to get to.
Arghh, so confusing, someone post simple instructions to install FCOM and MMM
I posted step-by-step instructions in the OP on how to install it. Its not that difficult or confusing, you just have to install everything in the right order. And you can't be afraid of Wrye Bash
Guys, I'm trying to spice up Morrowind, and I need to know what's the best way to install and run the FPS Optimizer and the MGE and the Morrowind Enhanced mod...
I tried using wrye mash and it didn't work very well.
whoa what? is this the first time you guys are hearing about this?
wow.

Well I'd heard about it, but I just re-installed Morrowind for the first time in years and was surprised it worked so impressively with such a low fps hit.
Holy fuck, Morrowind Comes Alive completely KILLS my frame rate... Even in Seyda Neen. Whenever I look at the central area with the new NPCs, it goes from 50fps to 5fps, without hyperbole. I think I'm giving up on it... Even a freaking Core2Duo E8400 with can't handle the scripts.
I managed to get MGE and MWExtended work fine, but one of the domina armor mods and the readable signposts mod complain about Bloodmoon or Tribunal being altered. Weird. I have the CD-ROM GOTY version, which is 100% uptodate.
whoa what? is this the first time you guys are hearing about this?
wow.
I fell in love with Morrowind back on OXbox. Never had a computer able to process anything very well until not too long ago. This is the first time I've looked into re-purchasing Morrowind on PC to re-live oh so many hours I've poured into the Xbox version.
So yea, I knew there were mods out there to make it look better, just never what exactly.

You can also get it on Steam for cheap now.
Bought hard-copy. Steam blocks some mods and graphical enhancements.
So I installed FCOM with the rune skulls but I forgot what i did when it came to the travellers and all the other crap. I think I should have written everything down or done it in one day instead of 5.
Right now it loads and goes through a little bit and then freezes. First it froze right after the asshole in teh cell across from me talked about dying. Then it froze when teh captain said her 3rd line, then it froze right after a Mythic Dawn assassin jumped from that door that was locked.
I may wipe the hole thing and start over again or install S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and try that instead.

just try this, i already linked it before but i think poeple just ignored it, its a basically made for people who dont have the time or patience to install fcom and everything else and then bug shoot shit.
No matter what I seem to do, I seem to be missing lots of important textures for FCOM (getting lots of those yellow boxes with exclamation points, and floating bodies). Plus, the whole thing is now in... German? That's odd.
I'd love to get it running, but it might not be feasible. There's just so much shit going on. Does it require a completely new game to take effect, or can I load a save from directly at the sewer doors? Followed the install directions to the letter. Kind of at a loss now.

It's in German because you need to use Bob's Armory EV. EV stands for english version.
Or, at least I think it is bob's armory. It might be War Cry.
[edit] Yea, use the War Cry EV .esp or .esm, I forgot which one. Disable the non-EV one - that be where you're getting German from.
Are there any mods for Oblivion that makes the loot a bit more interesting? I'm not to fond of all these weapons with charges and having to mess around with soul gems and recharging and shit.
I just want to adventure and kill shit with nice new weapons. I guess I should play diablo 2 instead. Actually, Oblivion with a diablo 2 style loot system would be pretty sweet...

there was a mod like that in progress many years ago.. not sure if it ever got released but the trailers looked pretty awesome.
