Fiery Payback on PTR Fiery Payback is still 2 ranks. The disarm is a passive ability. It isn't dependent on being near death. We are still messing with the duration, etc.
Biggest update on our class so far.
Re: Frost Pots, I am gonna demonstrate a bit of ignorance here, but I don't see why those would be on a different CD from regular Mana Pots. Wouldn't you be better off popping one of those?
I could be wrong, I don't really fool with them, TBH.
I was planning on giving them to tanks and healers.
Gets better as you go. I don't remember how the spells are structured anymore, but once you hit 58 and start getting "real" gear, you will start to feel the power.
Do mages usually feel really weak and vulnerable while leveling? Levels 14-20 were a real pain in the ass.
It doesn't get any better until 27 and having 3/3 Shatter and 3/3 Frostbite. And even then it's still kinda balls.
It improves somewhat at 40 and Ice Barrier, and again at 48 with 2/2 Fingers of Frost and Empowered Frostbolt. Takes another running leap at 53 or so with Water Elemental and Brain Freeze, at 58 and Outlands gear you start doing a proper job, and then at 64 you switch to Arcane and become Death, Destroyer of Worlds
The whole 'fragile as a wet, starving little kitten' thing never really changes though

Does the "oh man I only have enough mana to take on one dude at a time," thing change though? This is getting a fair bit irritating. When I say this, I mean being Eiffel Tower-ed every time two dudes get in close.
Anyone feel like giving me their opinion on this comparison for a hit capped FFB mage? Dropping the 21 spellpower difference from 2 runed scarlet rubies and 1.25% haste for about 2% crit seems worth it to me, but I'm horribly indecisive.

we did a full clear of naxx last night with 9/10 raiders having never even been that far in naxx so
if you need frost resist in 10 man, chances are someone(s) in your group is... kinda bad
Well, they didn't explicitly said I needed it, but they said to grab it anyway in case it's needed for Hodir/other Ulduar bosses down the line, and it might help us kill him more smoothly with more heal effcinency.
I'm only Made the boots, and I might make the belt at some point.

I would say stick with the Woven Bracae Leggings.

That said, the t7/7.5 pants are better, because the set bonuses are great, and I prefer to have my non-set piece be my helm.
Henroid, Now that I'm not at work, I can finally post wowhead links to some builds, and write up some info for your first post regarding the fire builds.
The standard Fire/TTW raiding build looks like this -- http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=of0qcz0cZ0EcbRhIhVubhct
Glyphs -- Fireball, Improved Scorch, Molten Armor
Primarily focused on single target dps, it leaves out Blastwave and Dragon's Breath. The talent spec requires more hit than any other mage spec due to not being able to spare any points to pick up the hit talents. This spec is also dependent on having a slowing effect on your target for the Torment the Weak talent to increase your damage. This shouldn't be to difficult with a good tank, as all the slowing effects a tank can apply (thunderclap, frost fever, infected wounds, judgement of the just, etc) allow Torment the Weak to work.
Tishä's variation of the Fire/TTW -- http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=of0qcz0cZ0EzbRhIuVubhst
Glyphs -- Fireball, Improved Scorch, Molten Armor
Sacrifices 4% of the crit for a few spells from World in Flames to pick up Blastwave and Dragon's Breath.

Robes really fuck with how tabards display though. It's not a tabard at all, it becomes a fan t-shirt you got at some event at the San Francisco piers.
One of my favorite times with my mage is when she wore cindercloth leggings and the chest piece (with a red swashbuckler's shirt) (and this was actually the best gear at that level, low 50's). I like the spell-casting stance, but robes cover it up.
That helm... I don't even know what they're going for there.
Hood with a crown over it. It does look iffy, yeah. On the other hand, I like being able to wear something the Kirin Tor higher ups would probably wear.

Ah that's what it is. Probably easier to make out with a 360 view.
I probably will keep the graphic off though. Kinda ugly in comparison to the Hood of Rationality in my opinion. I keep that graphic on .

Whether or not I keep the graphic on depends on if my mage's hairtstyle makes this shit looks good. :P
I know my cloak graphic is going off though. And I'm going to pimp my guild tabard with pride.

I thought I'd seen screenshots with robes, too. My hope is that they will over us a vest/robe decision at the token vendor, both having the same stats, of course, but giving us a nice option for aesthetics.

You did see screenshots with robes. That was when Blizzard was still working on it. According to MMO Champion, this is the final decision on all T8 armor (barring a couple of glitches with the rogue stuff). Furthermore, according to MMO Champion the robe graphic for the mage T8 has been removed from the game files completely. This is it. It has been decided.
Also, I updated the OP a bunch. The Fire build and FFB builds have been updated both in description and talent alignment wise. I think they're set to be optimal now. But remember kids, these are only recommendations! <.<
We really need to go over the viable frost builds. I'm not doing it though because I hate frost.
Anyone here who's done Naxx (10 or 25) as Arcane want to comment on how you hold up during really long fights like Sapph or KT, mana-wise? Like how many evocates you go through, mana gems, that sort?
On a positive note... at least having our T8 be a vest doesn't make mages look like some sort of circus reject like the tailored epics did when TBC first came out. Spellfire vest and Spellstrike pants.... *shudder*

I used to have an Arcane Mage in my guild who was off the opinion that Sapph was a great fight to be Arcane on. The frequent Air Phase downtime is a great place to pop a gem or Evocate, so I guess he found it pretty easy to make it through. Dunno about KT though.

Oh lord...don't remind me.
I'm a little bit irritated about the vest thing, I'm of the general opinion that only a few races don't look retarded in caster vests, and Humans are not one of them.

Does anyone know how Glyph of Mage Armor is going to work if one has the 50% mana regen talent and, of course, Mage Armor up for 100%? Is it going to actually up mana regen or what?
I'm basically deciding if I should get Glyph of Arcane Power of Glyph of Mage Armor.

Both Sapph and KT I usually have no mana problems at all because of 2 simple talent points in frost warding (frost tree tier 2) that you normally place in ice shards (for no increase in dps on bosses). Just keep up your frost ward and you should regain a ton of mana on those two. Usually my rotation is arcane blast until missile proc on those two because mana is such a joke. My two cents

And yeah I respec'd arcane sooner than the patch.
Glyph of Mage Armor plus the talent does indeed mean 100% regen in the patch, Arcane Power glyph is a lower dps increase than the new arcane missiles glyph.
Arcane mages should be using: Glyph of Arcane Blast, Glyph of Arcane Missiles, Glyph of Molten Armor or Mage Armor depending on how cozy you want to keep your mana

Well what I mean is, is it possible to get more than 100% mana regen while casting?
Mage Armor: 50% regen while casting
Arcane Meditation: 50% regen while casting
You can get 100%. But with Mage Armor glyph'd (20% more mana regen while casting), can you go higher, or will it have no effect at all?

No effect - you cannot go over 100% of normal mana regeneration.
Well hopefully this week they come up with how.
