They're slaves to the military-industrial shelf complex man. We build a shelf, then the Russians build a bigger shelf, so we have to build like 10 shelves the size of Manhattan.

I got to play around with a Kindle v1 a few days ago. It's neat, but there's just some sort of visceral pleasure in holding a real paper book in your hands.

I'm guessing this is referring to AT&T's U-Verse thing that's coming out.

what a coincidence, my mom was telling me about it yesterday and how she's getting it on the cheap and how we're getting fiber-optics and everything's going to be so fast.

edit: yeah maybe they're talking about Kindle. but the U-verse remote control for the TV that they are coming out with never needs batteries or to be charged or something

E-books or kindle or whatever the fuck it's called is a great idea for text books, encyclopedias, or even information searching like my enormous Handbook of Chemistry and Physics.

For shit I want to read for enjoyment, there's nothing like holding a nice hardbound book. Then eating an apple, then yelling out the new name for the princess into the storm and fixing Fantasia.

Yeah. My sister's boyfriend has a Kindle and it's nice but I don't know, I just like real books too much. I think it'd be fantastic for traveling, though.

The thing that always makes me jealous of Kindle is that books are like $0.99 on Amazon through Kindle

It's be nice to have in a city with decent public transit/work commute, but around here you're gonna be driving 90% of the time.

I got Rachel Fantasia on DVD for Valentine's day. 8-)

Granted, it was the version that came out 8 years or so ago, so we'll probably get it again when it comes out on DVD. Apparently Fantasia is due to be re-released in 2010.

I like the Hardcover model but they need to extend the warranty to help fix the Broken Binding of Death bug. Also it sucks that when you send it in for repair you have to include the original Book Jacket.
