Flattening out an old movie poster?

I recently one an eBay auction for an original poster from John Carpenter's The Thing. The seller states that it came folded and I will receive it folded. In the picture on the auction page there are obvious folds but it's difficult to tell whether or not there are deep creases. Apparently it has not been folded and unfolded often and it's in fairly good condition.

I should note that I've not received the poster yet and will probably do so tomorrow.

I plan on framing this poster, but is there anything that I can do to flatten it out and make sure there are no creases before I frame it? Do any of you have any experience in this area?

Garry: I know you gentlemen have been through a lot, but when you find the time I'd rather not spend the rest of the winter TIED TO THIS FUCKING COUCH!

I've flattened out newspaper to a reasonable degree by ironing it on a low setting.

I would do so (re: ironing) through a towel or something, as well, depending on the finish of that poster.

I rolled up my FO3 poster I got at PAX for the plane trip home. When I got home, we had some 1/2" thick old wooden shelves in the basement that I put on top of it after rolling it out. I also put some other stuff on top of the wood for more weight.

I left it there for like 3 days and it was perfectly flat when I picked it up.

Getting it flat isn't hard. I usually put a poster somewhere it won't be disturbed (under a bed) and lay textbooks all over it to get it flattened out. Dunno if that will get rid of obvious folds though, but weight is your best tool here.

I put towels over mine, then heavy textbooks all over it.

    Mine wasn't that folded though
