Because it's awesome and reviewers that complained simply didn't understand that the entire game is about moving and dodging with correctly timed button presses (while listening to awesome music)?
Seriously, fire rapidly for 2 seconds, twist, cartwheel, fire some more, back flip, cartwheel, kill. Rapidly. And rack up combos. Maybe it was the fact that the button timing was somewhat precise? I just remember reading reviews and seeing that turning was slow and after playing that game thinking, "Why the hell would they want to waste time TURNING?!"
Granted I still have some trouble with the laser beam traps but I never said I was particularly GOOD at the game.
Along with this news, the publisher announced a line of Resident Evil "Classics" that will bring the GameCube games Resident Evil (the remake) and Resident Evil Zero to Wii. The Classics will set you back $30. Both should arrive this year. As with Resident Evil 4, these ports will be outfitted with Wii pointer controls.
Huh? Pointer controls? I'm pretty sure that they're just talking about using the nunchuck and Wiimote to control your character, but why say it like that? After all, how would you use the pointer in these games anyway? By the by, does anyone know how RE0 controls without having two analog sticks? I seem to recall that you could control both characters at once on the GC version using the control and camera sticks.
An unusually large number of people on PA like PN03.
I wanted to like it, but the controls (moreso the mashing of A) and the absolutely dull repetition of room after room after same-looking room got to me. I understand it's a shmup at heart and not really a Tomb Raider clone, but it still didn't click with me.
Hell yes for the REmake and RE Zero news. Never got to play RE Zero, now I'll be able to. Hopefully they let you play with the GameCube controller still.
The general plot and gameplay of Code Veronica X was pretty ho-hum dull. But I would replay the game all over again for that last cutscene with Wesker and Chris.

CV on the DC was the first RE game I ever played so it has a special place in my heart. Never did finish it, far through it with Chris on the second disc, I got stuck due to some unfortunate loop hole that meant I couldn't progress because I threw away an item as Claire instead of putting it in the item box.

RE0 was probably the hardest of the RE games, but it's still pretty good.
After further research, i think i have to take back what i said.
Biohazard Wii will NOT be widescreen, but should still be at 480p. If you do run the game at widescreen mode, the Wii will run at 4:3 a la megaman 9 on a widescreen.
Those RE: Darkside screenshots look amazing for a Wii game plus I like Leon & Claire's RE games better than Jill & Chris. UC, I ended up getting via goozex several months after release, but this new one, I may just have to buy day 1.

See, that's what I was thinking. I mean, if they had it in widescreen that'd mean that they'd gone back and done new pre-rendered backgrounds for every single angle, and that'd be a tall order.
Also, do you have to raise the Wiimote to ready your gun in REWii, or is there a button press that works too?

im trying to get word back from cvxfreak, but its shite load of control options at your mercy.
youll find one comforting im sure. including classic controller
I'd heard that if you don't own the GCN version you should pick it up, otherwise not. But I haven't played it so I'm not sure.
Also DSC is looking so damn good.
That's about right, it's pretty much a straight port - doesn't have pointer controls or anything. Given how the backgrounds are pre-rendered, they couldn't add widescreen, like most GCN ports. Apparantly it has 480p support, which is new in PAL-land, but I don't know if the GC NTSC version supported it or not.
Either way, it's not worth picking up if you already have it on GCN... unless you really like progressive scan.
Edit: And man, Darkside Chronicles looks tasty, though hopefully once this comes out they'll get cracking on a Resident Evil 4-2 - I'm amazed they've not built another RE game on that engine yet.

Resident Evil 4-2 - I'm amazed they've not built another RE game on that engine yet.
Resident Evil 5 maybe?
Nah, I meant the actual RE4 engine for the Wii (RE5 was built on MT Framework), it just seems a no-brainer way to make some easy money to me - you have one of the highest rated games of all time on a console that's sold a ridiculous amount... why wouldn't you make a follow up to that? You've got the engine right there.
Also, I found RE5 to be a crushing dissapointment, but that's another thing entirely.

Even with the engine already made, a new Resident Evil game based on the RE4 engine for the Wii would still take a ton of time & money to make unless it reused enemies & levels from RE4 liberally.
And Darkside Chronicles looks like it'll be awesome. The best of the early games (RE2) + more of a horror bent (shaky cam + being able to see your ally in 1P + better directing) = win. Most of the complaints that the IGN preview had seem to be the kinds of things that'll get straightened out before the game comes out after it's gotten a bit more polish.
So long as the camera smoothes out when you're supposed to be shooting at things, I'm really looking forward to this. I was kinda bummed out when I heard that DCS and DS: E were both going to be rail shooters, but I'm looking forward to both now.
They really should make another REWii game using the 4 engine though. I know Dead Rising is supposed to control a lot like RE4, but I dunno if I'm too interested in trying that any more.

So I was reading a release over at IGN, and it mentioned this:

I could watch the ass all day, though.
That's basically my sentiments here, too.
Though I'd really like another RE game with RE4 Wii Edition controls.
Point where character should move on the screen.

itll support all controllers including a sideways wiimote only option.

That's kind of a kick in the pants.
In one of the alternate control schemes, yes.
I'd say Summer of next year probably. (Well, at least for this game)
It's okay, they're wearing bunny slippers
By the way, has anybody played the Wii port of REmake? I'm kind of curious if I should pick it up and sell my old GC version.
Also DSC is looking so damn good.
