Resident Evil 4-2 - I'm amazed they've not built another RE game on that engine yet.
Resident Evil 5 maybe?
Nah, I meant the actual RE4 engine for the Wii (RE5 was built on MT Framework), it just seems a no-brainer way to make some easy money to me - you have one of the highest rated games of all time on a console that's sold a ridiculous amount... why wouldn't you make a follow up to that? You've got the engine right there.
Even with the engine already made, a new Resident Evil game based on the RE4 engine for the Wii would still take a ton of time & money to make unless it reused enemies & levels from RE4 liberally.
Depends what you mean by 'a ton', really - I doubt it'd cost more to produce then Darkside Chronicles (and it'd be significantly cheaper then RE5), and if sales of RE4:Wii are anything to go by, it'd sell well.
Oh, it would definitely be cheaper to make than RE5, but I daresay it would be drastically more expensive to make than Darkside Chronicles if it's anything like Umbrella Chronicles. I loved Umbrella Chronicles, but there's no denying that it's a lot smaller than RE4 since UC is on rails & can be finished a lot quicker than RE4 plus UC had the advantage of being based on previous games in the series so they could reuse a lot of assets.
And like someone mentioned, Capcom did make another RE4 style game for the Wii: that Dead Rising spin-off.
What they should do is rather than release Resident Evil 1 over and over (for those who don't know, they're releasing another version for the Wii with nothing added to it) they should try remaking the game with RE4wii controls.
Perhaps the controls won't lend well to the hallways and small rooms of RE1, but I know I would buy it.
Actually, what they should do is risk the money and make RE6. Wii exclusive.

Actually, I think that was the original plan for Umbrella Chronicles before Capcom decided that Wii owners would hate that sort of thing.

Not that I'm "defending" the release of REmake again (I would if it was a cheap bundle with RE and RE0, I think it's good to give a chance for new players to play GC games and it makes business sense), but it's hardly fair or logical to compare a straight and simple port to a second remake of a game that would entail completely remaking the game, considering the levels were pre-rendered. Not to mention the old games aren't prone to the RE4 style controls and camera.

The Gamecube version had pre-rendered backgrounds? I thought it was all rendered in the engine but with fixed camera angles..
If that's the case, then yes, I agree that's asking too much.

Yep, pre-rendered backgrounds all the way for the Gamecube RE1 & RE0.
Although, RE2 is probably my favorite of the old school Resident Evil games, I'd say that RE3 would be the best suited for a RE4 style remake due to its setting (an entire city as opposed to just a large building or two).
Ideally, REmake will sell ridiculously well on the Wii, and Capcom will decide to remake Resident Evil 2 in a similar way.
Shit, they're already making a lot of the model assets for Darkside Chronicles. Part of the work is already done for them
I mean, they're working on Darkside CHronicles now, which is due out in the latter part of this year. They just released the Wii version of REmake and the Wii RE0 is due out sometime this year. Other than RE PSP, there's not much in the longterm announced for RE.
Also, the models in Darkside are looking fantastic and IMO would look great in a RE2 remake.
So I got RE4 a few weeks ago, and after beating it on normal, I'm on my Professional playthrough. It's going a bit rough, but I just got to the part with the.. whatever the hell Salazar's Right Hand is. This guy terrorized me on my Normal playthrough, and I never actually beat him (I ran into the elevator.) so I was with special vindictive glee when I finally killed his ass just now.
I let my brother borrow REmake on the GameCube the DAY AFTER i bought it, because I am a kickass brother who had a backlog and figured, he had nothing but a GameCube and I'll help him out.
He just told me he lost GameCube, with Disc 1 in it, when moving.
I am so pissed, as it was part of the collection that had RE:0, REmake and RE4 for Cube all in it.
So now Im debating picking up REmake Wii, as I doubt I can find the GC version cheap again. So this post was kinda pointless, but I needed to vent.
Also Darkside Chronicles looks fantastic.

Is there any chance RE1 Wii has a reversible cover thats not so ugly?

Bastard.
I always beat him by freezing him with a cylinder then one-hit killing him with the rocket launcher. Not too much of a problem that way. Without the rocket launcher, he's a fucking nightmare.

I'm saving the rocket launcher for when I get super stuck somewhere. Though from what I've been reading, even using it on Salazar or Saddler would be overkill. (Saddler was such a dissapointment on Normal.)
On my first playthrough I did the same, but I found that the ammo saved from other weapons was more than worth the lost rocket launcher. Other enemies can be more easily dispatched with conventional weapons.
Beat RE4 on professional. (I kinda cheated by using the invincible Ashley outfit.) and then proceeded to run through almost the whole game with the laser-gun thingy; getting enough money to buy both the infinte typewriter and the infinite rocket launcher.
Fun times.

Looks good to me. They're definitely going for a more horror feel this time around.
Zombies react to getting shot a lot better this go around.
I still wish they would just do this stuff RE4 style, not this on-rails crap. What exactly was it about RE4 Wii that didn't work and people didn't like? What made the game not sell a shitload of copies? Oh wait.
RE: Umbrella Chronicles sold a ton of copies (a lot more than the RE4 style Dead Rising spinoff) and was drastically cheaper to make then RE4 or RE5. Making a sequel to UC rather than another main game RE just for the Wii makes a lot of business sense.

More like lazy-ass cash-in sense.
Take RE4 Wii engine. Remake RE 1-2-3 whatever the fuck you want. Just make it play like RE4 Wii.

[Citation needed]. RE:UC/DC are made by Cavia. RE4/5 were made by Capcom. Given Cavia's track record, they wouldn't be up to the task of a RE# game which is why they don't make it. A port of RE4 outsold Umbrella Chronicles by a significant amount. Even if an RE4 style game costs a little more, it will also make more money. They just don't have anyone to make it. The Dead Rising spin-off being decidedly mediocre(61/100 average) is why it didn't sell well.

Darkside Chronicles is going to be released November 17 - the same day as Left 4 Dead 2. Well crap, that can't be good for sales. Still, considering how much of an Umbrella Chronicles fan I am, it's time to put my preorder in. The game really does look great.

That would be miracle considering that rendering something like that in real time is still one or two generations away.

Anywho, recent statements from Capcom on RE5 for the Wii is "It's technically possible, but unlikely."
Thank you, Capcom :P

I'd care if RE5 wasn't half-assed.
On the contrary, even if RE5 was left in half-assed mode, I'd buy it just to play it with the remote & nunchuck.
