Cheap antihystamines?

My wife has nasty allergies, and she got a hair lodged in her nose last night and is suffering horribly, but we don't have the money for a proper allergy OTC. Any home remedies? We've even gone so far as to shoot saline up her nose (A very unpleasant experience).

A box of claritin or even Zyrtec is like 15 dollars.

I'm a Zyrtec man. If you look hard enough you can find coupons for $5 off a bottle.

Have you tried normal nasal sprays?

Same here. It sucks, but hey at least we don't have to do yard work!

Yeah, generic antihistamines are very cheap. 12p a day or something?

If you really don't have $15 dollars for the medicine other people mentioned above, have her wash her hair and take a hot shower that will steam up the bathroom. Sometimes, this can help, but it's really no replacement for getting the pills.

Boil water in a pot and have her put a towel over her head over it. That will help clear her out. Keeping her drinking hot fluids will help as well. You might want to consider investing in a netipot as well.

Drinking more water during the day is supposed to help with problems like this too.

Nasal Irrigation might help. All you need is water, salt, and a bulb syringe (you could use a neti pot, too)

Yeah, the saline thing is very helpful, and you do get used to it after 2 or 3 tries.

    http://www.neilmed.com/

The NeilMed Sinus Rinse is unstoppable.

Its really just water and a little salt packet to match your nose so it doesn't burn when you do it so you dont really have to buy the official kit.

Thanks all! We ended up stealing our neighbor's Benadryl (?), since the other stuff didn't work for her, or she didn't want to try it (sorry, DesertBox, it was the sound of the words "neti pot" that freaked her out). She's been miserable all day, and I've been yelled at rather regularly throughout the day for reasons I have yet to determine, but she's asleep in bed now, looking like an angel, so I guess I'll just have to keep her drugged with borrowed meds.
