why would i want to give microsoft my money when all i have/want is a wii?

On another note, i just heard my 56 year-old boss will be spending his weekend playing wii over at his 70 year-old friends house.

On the upside, maybe they could use the mountain of money they make from fleecing the Brits to make some games.

Ha ha! It is a Wii joke!

Is this going to similarly increase the prices of games? Because they're already bloody expensive. Damn you recession, damn you!

On the plus side, I have a HUGE backlog that I could be working through right now instead of buying new games.

I still need to make a proper start of Baldur's Gate at some point. Never managed to get as far as the city of Baldur's Gate previously before something else came up and I had to leave the game for a while.

It's inflation. The UK's about to get hit hard by it in all areas thanks to our government's wonderful new policy of printing more imaginary money in order to try and deal with the current recession (a scheme that has proved hugely successful in Zimbabwe and 1920's Germany).

Nintendo's just ahead of the game.

I seriously question if the consumer base will bear this price increase though, either suppliers increase the price and the Wii costs more than an xbox elite or they swallow it and take no margin, in which case I expect they will work a lot harder to push consumers into buying a different console.

I doubt being more expensive than the Elite will be the tipping point. The Wii is already more expensive than the 60GB 360.

People that want Wiis, buy Wiis. The pricing was their selling point at launch, but has since established itself from Cheapo console to family console.

Heck... Even I'm thinking of buying a Wii for my nephews because I bought into that idea!
