The 3rd anniversary event is starting this Thursday and lasting for a week. Some DS and iPod giveaways for people who basically make playing NF a full time job, some crappy drawing for prizes noone wants, but here's what I like:
+50% exp (+100% on Sun and Sat).
Hoping I have time to take advantage of the weekend bonus and get my Colorado and Essex
the exact details can be found on a link on the mainpage

sweet! double exp! I might have to stay up late sat and sunday. I should get over 4k-5k per battle. that should level me up pretty fast. Hopefully to CA levels of bad assness.
Doesn't look like I'll be getting that sub. Going to be leaving pretty soon and going cold turkey on the electronics and lifestyle to which I am so utterly addicted.
I'll sink you again Flecko, when the oceans burn again.
Wow, I did that whole "keep your sailors fully recruited" thing, and it sucked all my points out of me to just get recruits. Now I have no prayer of getting my soldiers upgraded to reload gunners or anything else really. Just this simple points drain scheme is making me consider shelving this game since its obviously a "haha, your not paying us anything so fuck you" measure.
Yeah it should almost be in the thread title, it's no secret NF is super-grindy, you really have to enjoy the gameplay to stick it out for the the big ships. The event coming up will show you what things look like from a "subscription perspective" which while not required... I don't think I'd bother playing my higher level ships without it. The scrip is the only NF store item I'd say becomes vital later on, elite sailors and boosted sailors are really just a luxury (say making a lvl 50 sailor act like a lvl 52 sailor). I.E. handy for the grind but not a game breaking advantage at all, I'd really only go for those if you think "hey I've got some money and wanna help the devs".
The premium ships really depend on the nation and ship line, though I can say if you find yourself going down the US battleship line I'd suggest getting the sevastopol. US BBs are just sorta ok until your a few levels above the Colorado level. Then they become devourers of worlds when you get to the REALLY big stuff like the Iowa and Montana.
As for points, people will usually give them away, me included. Credits are one thing, I gotta keep my ships up to date :P . But as far as points go I literally have more than I could ever use so if you need those just ask

NOOOO!!! Our only German-line heathen!! Is this like a "quitting games" type thing or a "going on a long vacation" type thing? We'll miss ya
Mostly all the wonkery in the shipyard, the actual battles seem simple enough. I'm wading through some of the shipyard stuff with help from some of the 3rd party tutorial pages.
2. 3rd Anniversary event will be held.

Double XP, tell your friends.
To Phant 2 things: Post your in game name so we can add you to the squad, post any questions about anything at all here, the cumulative knowledge of the people here should be able to answer almost anything. There's a lot of undocumented crap that can be really handy to know
Ok so, I've got it mostly figured out, but now that I've done that I'm pretty sure I fucked up fairly badly. I have crews that are specialized in things they really aren't suited for. Is there any way to fix this other than just grinding out enough points to recruit a fresh new set of sailors?
if you aren't too far in the best way is probly to reset the account by deleteing all the sailors and ships and relogging if you find youself in a point crunch, or if you have enough to trade (50k points and creds) we can give you some.
Be aware that classing a sailor up costs points as well, and quite a few in the beginning
Ok, despite all the searching I can't find anything that explains the numbers after "Arm" in ship information.
Example. The next DD I can get is the Tribal, at the bottom of its stats(most of which make some sort of sense) it says "ARM 64, 64, 29, 64, 64". Noone apparently thinks this needs explination...
Also, I can see nothing that explains whats so special about the Pitt that it is its own little dead-end ship tree. wtf?
One other thing... I'm trying to understand the advantages of the manual firing FCS. So far I have seen none. It doesn't seem to make my shell groupings any better, and it just seems to add more things I'm trying to keep track of, so while I'm frantically trying to range my guns on the guy that is apparently effortlessly smashing my brains out I fail to notice that sub that just introduced me to some surprise torp-sex. I guess I can see where it would allow big ships to drop their full salvo in a smaller area, but as a DD my spread isn't that wide, and in either case a majority of my shells are splashing all the fuck over the place that isn't my target in any case, manual aiming or auto. Even if I managed to range my target properly I can count on 75 to 100% of my shells deviating enough that they just splash water on the enemies crew, no doubt refreshing them for renewed efforts in turning my lil' DD into a artificial reef.

It has something to do with the size of the guns it can hold, I really have no idea what the actual significance of those numbers are, besides being able to tell how many guns a ship can hold in its R and T-slots

The Pitt is the UK landing craft, each nation has one. they're used in Harbor Assaults to unload ground troops once the attacking fleet makes it to the harbor itself (note: I don't know much about harbor assaults :P at all)

The true advantage of an Aiming FCS doesn't become apparent until your in a CL. With more range and higher level gunners your accuracy and spread will drastically improve. Most people just recommend learning it in a DD to get a head start

The numbers indicate the maximum size of weapon for that slot, with the different weapons taking up different amounts of space. The ammo takes up some space too, so make sure you leave some room for that.
I'm running out of credits to play Santa claus with, mainly because of this event and the new ships it's rushed me to. Though I've still got plenty of points I can hand out

Yea no joke. I've went up 14 levels in about 10 hours worth of playing. Good times right there. Still trying to decide if switching to the Cleveland with 8" doubles is worth the loss of the 6" trips on the Brooklyn.
Urf, I moved up to a Emerald and am discovering that all those guns aren't so great when your gunners can't make them impact inside a area smaller than three europas set side by side. Might have to switch back to the Q class for awhile...
also, webguy that image in your sig is freaking me the fuck out.
