Three levels away from my battlecruiser seems so far, and with my windows reinstall it seems to have about a 50% chance of crashing if I alt+tab (which I used to do for pretty much the first few minutes of any battle), and then I just can't be bothered starting it up again. Harumph.

There've been alt-tab problems for a long time, I wouldn't recommend it. Though in my experience as long as you don't do it during a battle proper it won't crash (the battle waiting room seems to be ok). Plus tabbing out when you could be assisting the team is kinda lame anyway.

Though I can't judge, I did that too when GBs first came out and I was still in a DD ;-)

We need to us vent more, the chatting funcionality of this game is absolutely terrible. I've not been playing just because few people are on, and when they are you only can talk to them briefly and not during combat.

    sure you can, F12.

    Communication is lacking though

edit: also '\' will toggle the radioman in battle if you wanna send tells as well

during combat the chat window covers up parts of the UI though, what I'm getting at is that yes it has a working chat room etc, but its poorly done, not useful for talking with clan members since their messages get scrolled past quickly, and generally just in the way.

    Vent solves all those problems.

you can use enter then /squadron [message] instead of having the chat interface up during battle. It is shit though.

Ok I tried this out and I cant beat the beginner BB mission for the life of me. Any tips on what to do because my guns are doing shitty damage like 50 damage to the battle ships and they are just unloading on me. Seems damn near impossible.

Yeah I'll be on for a bit, send me a tell or find the PA room in area 14, I'm usually there if I'm afk (like I will be for a short bit right now) or tabbed out. In game it's flecko proper no zero

The best tip is DONT DO THE MISSIONS. They aren't nearly as useful as the sink or swim tactic.

Yeah, don't bother with the missions at all.

    Choices... 4 single 11"s, or 4 double 8s. I think I'll stick with the 8s.
Two and a half levels left for my BB...

I officially hate torpers in this game. If it's not the bigass cruisers and battleships killing me it's the 30 torpedoes spread out barely far enough for me to squeeze through.

Blowing up other people with them is pretty satisfying, though.

Torpers arent so bad, you at least can dodge them a good chunk of the time and they tend to be defenseless a lot of the time. Its nothing compared to the Great Battles where I'm shot down without even seeing who shot me, let alone being able to shoot back. That's frustrating.

You learn ways to counter torpedoes after a while, the main one being don't rush off right at the start, just wait there for a few minutes, and if you do rush at the start go north or south, not to the middle of the ma.

Ok so I have been playing a little more and I am lvl 22 and ended up joining the UK. I plan on Going the CL and BB line of ships and was wondering what sailors should I be working on at the moment? Right now I have 3 Arms and 1 Support guy who I am not sure what to do with. I know down the line my arms guys can either spec in reload or accuracy and im not sure which way is the best to go. Any help would be appreciated just dont want to screw up making my sailors and be f'ed over in the long run. Basically ay type of information you guys could give me on what I should be working on leveling up would help tremendously.

You'll want 4 gunners total, Ideally two with 12/10 (or 11/10 that's fine too) in the acc/reload stats for the main guns and two 10/12(11) for the T-slots if you want to use AA guns (lvl them up as reload sailors, actual anti-air sailors are very inferior)

For UK support slots any combination of engies and repairers is good. Also make sure to level up one rookie pilot so you can scout as soon as you get a CL that supports it

to be fair, I have seen machine gun fire take out a squad of torp divers on their approach before they fired their shots.

I've always wanted a game similar to this but set in space.

Morkath - torp divers, you say? Does this game features launchable troops that physically invade other boats? If it does, I will download it right now.

AA skill boosts the damage that the automatic MGs do to planes, and they receive a lot more damage from them the lower they are. As a DD or CL you can actually help BBs a bit by going a wee bit in front of them so that your automatic AA shoots dive bombers, plus this gives you straight up points

AAW is handy, but you can take out torp bombers that way without focusing at all on the AAW stat at all. And higher level pilots are immune to it all together. The main reasoning for Reload over AA gunners is that AA gunners have a crappy rate of fire, you want to put as much flak into the air as fast as possible when you're trying to stop a wave of bombers from getting the BB you're escorting

Hey we finally get a patch that isn't nothing!
    Patch 1.254

    1. The recent patch with the upgraded medic ability on CVs will work same on ships
    of allied nations.

    2. Ship class limit on Night Battle will be removed(execpt submarine class) and max
enter limit on each class will be set same as Great Battle.
    * This patch is the fix of the patch we have placed few weeks ago.

    3. The error which disabled to send PMs to accout names which has '_' in it has been
    fixed.

    4. The local area code limit on the NF client will be removed. Now players who does
not have English OS can be able to play NF without any troubles.

    5. The time of the auto returning function of Aircrafts has been reduced abit.
    * This is not a nerf patch of decreasing the fuel of aircrafts. The fuel amount for all
aircrafts is same as usual, but this patch has been placed for the local fighters.

    6. New type fighters - Local fighters - has been added.
    - One type of local fighter has been added for each country.
    -US
    P-55
    -UK
    F5U Mark I
    -JPN
    J7W Shinden
    -GER
    Hs P.75

    - Local fighters can be used starting from Lv. 40 fighter pilots.
    - Local fighters has an advanced speed and powerful air combat abilities. It also has
a fast launching speed than other aircrafts.
    - Due to the speed of the Local fighter, the flight distance of the Local fighter is
limited around the CV, and the sight range is limited also. Also due to the speciality
in attacking, it's defense is not as advanced as it's attacking abilties.
    - Local fighters take much space due to it's form that it can't fold it's wings. It also is
    much expensive than other aircrafts.

Nothing I'm excited about, I just like that it's something. I'll give the new fighters a try, though I'm not too sure based on the notes. A CV shouldn't need close range fighter support unless they screwed up. and less fighters is not a great thing either depending on how much more space they take up

    ugh tonight's patch notes:

    1. The language issue on the Aircraft control panel has been fixed.

i.e. fixing a fuck up in last week's patch. I really wish they'd hold events such as the three year anniversary we saw a few weeks ago more often. The number of people online for the XP bonus was incredible, I've never seen that many people since the beta ended. BS patches like this one aren't helping them, especially when they foolishly advertise things like battleship tier 3,4 and & 5 and premium Carriers coming soon (these two have been coming soon for months and months now).

A huge draw in the 2x exp events is how quickly you can advance a low level crew in blitz and GB games. I suppose they're worried about people leveling too fast but realistically once you get into the 50s-60s even with double XP things are still slow as hell. I've got to assume they made more money in that period than they normally do, with more people growing faster they're going to sell more premium ships, more sailor boosts and more expert/vet increases than they normally would

i've found a good way to make cash is selling lv.11 neutral sailors. spend 15-20mins clicking to re-roll button until you get one of these:

    +15 pot, 12acc/11 or 10 rel, 12rel/ 11 or 10 acc, 12 torp, 12 eng,rep,rest/10 eng,rep,rest., 12 air/10 figther/bomber and 10 air/12 fighter/bomber

all of those will sell for 200k+, sell gunners in matched pairs for best results. you can also sell them for points.
