There is a new trailer out for Spielberg and Tom Hanks new WWII series, the Pacific.

Ever since Saving Private Ryan, any time there is some sort of beach landing I expect everyone to brutally die.

What're you, retarded? The series itself isn't set to debut until late this year or early next year. It even says that in the link.

I highly recommend actually reading Band of Brothers too.

Also, go and pick up The Biggest Brother. It's an entire book about Captain Winters. He is such an amazing man.

Did you know that Tom Hanks sends him gallons of ice cream every year for his birthday?

As far as I know he's alive and living in Philly.

He was the one that the author of Biggest Brother contacted so he could get in touch with Winters. Apparently he's just as grizzled as ever and told the guy not to even fucking bother if he had only seen the series and not read the book.

Band of Brothers on blu-ray is a sight to behold. Thankfully they shot the whole thing in film, so they just took a repressing of the original print and stuck that up on some indestuctable plastic discs.

It's absolutely beautiful in places, and gut-crushingly gory in others.

The actor sounds exactly like he does in real life. At least how he sounded in the series.

    Yep.

Apparently Winters was hanging out on set when the actors were doing the Currahee filming. He and the guy that plays Bill hit it off. Winters had him going the distance as the entire cast ran up the mountain. I don't think he made it the whole way but he got really close.

Edit: Seriously... buy and read this book

It is pointless to do a WW2 North Africa movie because Ice Cold In Alex made all the rest obsolete.

Though parts of Valkyrie do take place in Africa. Furthermore, the Russian front was forever ruined by Enemy at the Gates.

By just seeing these things on film, I feel like more of a man.

Paradoxically, they are also so manly that seeing those things on film will make you feel like less of a man as well. So manly that the laws of logic are emasculated and tossed aside!

Their whole attack at Breacourt Manor was fucking amazing. You know you did good when it becomes the textbook example for an attack on a position like that.

Desert Fox, Sundown, Sea of Sand, The Black Tent come to mind.

Most of the films on North Africa are British made because we barely did anything and they have a fucking hard-on for Rommel.
