Can't Access 360 Downloaded content offline, please help me figure this out
So before my X-Box breaks I could play geometry wars, Braid, and downloaded rock band songs among other things when I wasn't connected to the internet. X-Box red rings, get it back, now I can only access stuff when I'm on live. It's not always possible for me to be connected to the internet with my X-Box and is important that I be able to use downloaded stuff even when I'm not on live. Like I said this used to work before, but after getting my X-box back I have problems.
I was on support for 3 hours and they had no idea how to help me. I tried deleting games and redownloading them but that didn't work. When I'm offline Geometry wars shows up as a trial game, even though with my profile I have paid for it. Same for Braid and Pacman.
Something like this happened last time when I red ringed before and what they had to do was reset all the permissions or liscenses for my content. But when I was on the phone yesterday they either didn't know how to do that/couldn't authorize it. 3 hours later the guy said he thought he did, but every one of the seven people I talked to yesterday didn't know how to handle the problem and were just reading from scripts not prepared or related to this problem.
The way 360 DLC works is it ties the download to the machine and account it is downloaded on the first time. If it can't prove you're using the correct account with an internet connection, it tries to validate the machine. In this case its not the one you originally downloaded them on, hence the problem.
I don't know enough about 360's to help actually solve the problem, but I'm sure it'll involve calling them back with these details.

I'd love to be the one disappoint you when I don't fall down

Very unlikely. Here's the Microsoft Knowledge Base article on this very subject. If the OP is like me, he just has to "redownload" his DLC. It doesn't actually download everything (i.e. you don't have to redownload all that data), just verifies the local files and replaces the local copy of the license with the new copy stored on Live. That should be enough to allow him to use his DLC while offline, provided he signs in to his Live profile.
Haha, did you had to quote me so I can't even edit my post to save face? =p
I think it was a fair assumption though, they'd have redirected him to the site if anything.

You need to use the tool at http://www.xbox.com/drm - after you've done that, you can then add stuff to your download queue from your account history at http://marketplace.xbox.com (I think you can have 40 items at a time in it).
Once it's downloaded, you can use it offline again. Of course, this doesn't help if you can't get online at all, but it's the only way.

Don't use the MS tool. Call support back. they need to transfer your new console ID to your account. Once they do that, you redownload your content and then you can play it offline. This just happened to me after a repair.
It will take 3-5 business days for them to transfer the console ID. Don't use the ms tool to do this, as you can only do it once a year, and they should have done it when they repaired your console.
They should have done, but they didn't. IMO it's worth using it just to save yourself the heartache.
Except if your 360 is replaced again within a year, either by repair or what ever reason, you can't use it again. For me it took five minutes on the phone, then waiting a week for an email saying it had been done.
Edit: And I'm not saying it's a good solution. It's all sorts of stupid that we have to go through this when our console breaks, and even dumber that they're license tranfer is only allowed once a year, but such is life.
Fair enough - when it happened to me they didn't even do that. They had to give me a fuckton of MS points and I downloaded it all on a different account :P

last time I tried to play some solo rock band I couldn't play any DLC. It would just stay loading it forever. the X-box didn't lock up at all. I could hit the guide button and shit would work. I haven't tried it now that I got my internet back working. (this was like 2.5 months ago)

That is exactly what happens when you use the MS tool. It's just a way of doing it without having to call support, and it happens right away.
Sure, you can only use the tool once a year, but anything that keeps you from having to call support is a plus in my opinion.

I went with support because if there's any chance I replace my 360 again or on my own, I don't want to have been stuck by the once a year thing.
It's all nonsense. As it was, it was a 5 minute phone call plus a week of waiting for an email. Not really all that much trouble on top of the whole repair process.

Any idea what would cause this?
Try redownloading your DLC songs. This exact problem happened to me when I got my console replaced, but only when I wasn't fully signed in to Xbox Live. If it's happening even when you are signed in and online and redownloading doesn't fix it, then I'd say call Live support because something is messed up with your license to use those songs.

Just found this. Hopefully it works, although he seems to say part of it doesn't work the way it's supposed too.

I would have been happy with that solution too
